The gamification aspect, across a lot of computer languages, some vendors only offer it in one language/platform. During a tournament, developers/programmers can also compete with others. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Learning Needs Analysis at an individual even team level needs further development. Some activities do not count towards achieving higher maturity, e.g. from Beginner to Security Aware, when it clearly should be. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Good concept, useful material, easy to use. Can help to create engagement in the devs community. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Unprofessional customer success managers who peek in and completely disappear when they are actually asked to support.
The tournaments thing was sold as a "collaboration" between securecodewarrior and the client, however SCW totally vanishes once it's requested to actually collaborate in it.
There is no direct update on new features or guidance / recommendations on how to use them.
The challenges for tournaments remain the same and developers who participate in multiple tournaments will face the exact same ones over and over.
To me this is an oversell and underdeliver. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Its a fun and educational way to learn and practice coding skills. The hints and feedback provided are really helpful in guiding developers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The IDE is frustrating and sometimes the problems feel like they prioritize tricks over helping developers shift left on security. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like that Secure code warrior offers intensive and interactive, gamified training modules to our engineers. This helps to expand our secure coding practices as a team , and makes it easier to remediate and identify potential security flaws present in our codebase. Secure code warrior provides code scanning functionalities , integrated into our
continuous integration and continuous development (CI/CD) framework, and providing quick, real-time code scanning remediation guidance of our software development workflow. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Implementing and using Secure code warrior is highly resource intensive. Since it requires a significant amount of dedicated time and effort from our engineers and software security teams. Also , I must mention that secure code warrior is unable to completely detect all security vulnerability , especially those related to specific programming languages and their development frameworks. The platform has different levels of assessments for certifications programs example white belt certification, yellow belt certification etc. which is similar to karate belts and it gets progressively difficult as the level of developer increases. The Platform provides multiple programming languages to learn and work on assessments to obtain the certification and the scenarios are very engaging. The training videos help explain the types of problems or security threats one can face. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There is a huge gap between the training videos and the expectation in solving the assessment. While it's easy to learn about security issues theoretically it gets trickier and hard to solve using the inbuilt IDE which does not have shortcuts to navigate files. It's just code, no comment or reference is provided to what the code does. Until you are a trained professional you have to keep exploring and make assumptions even for the white belt certification which is the basic level. The IDE is laggy. The IDE and the whole platform look jazzy and tempting at first but one starts to get confused after using it for a while. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The ability to be hands-on to learn secure coding as a sofware developer/programmer. As a beginner in secure coding, I can refer to the resources section (videos). As an intermediate level, I can play with challenges on the training or courses ground. As an expert, I can take assessments or participate in timed-tournaments. SCW is for every skill level of a developer. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The GUI sometimes shapes out when operating it at high loads (prolonged period of use). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It is extremely easy to pick up Secure Code Warrior and it's fun too. It feels like you're playing and game and before you know it, you're learning how to write secure code! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Secure Code Warrior was not a good fit for Software Testers. However, this changed with Missions. Everyone I have spoken to, be it Developers or QAs, enjoys playing SCW Missions. I feel the platform could be improved further with Missions that were tailored toward black box penetration testing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The Platform was very easy to use, especially for onboarding. Also, it supports a breadth of languages which makes it easy to design security education programs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Nothing to dislike. As an education platform, it's tricky to get the depth of content. As a platform, it's great for starters and engineers new to a programming language to learn the best practices of a particular framework, however, it's difficult to keep the engagement once the developer has reached a certain level of maturity. The best part of Secure Code Warrior is how the UI is fun and interactive, which helps keep developers interested and focused on the tasks at hand, and also helps make them want to take part on their own accord. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There isn't much to dislike. Sometimes the hints are less helpful than they could be as they will take away an answer rather than give more details about it, however, this is something that we raised with the Secure Code Warrior team and they took this on board and have already started working on better ways to represent the hints to give the developers the best experience when completing their courses. I love that I can choose from multiple programming languages. And moreover, I love the competition style that gets me motivated to complete the tutorials. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I think they could have video tutorials explaining how to write secure code instead of just reading the tutorial. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
