I really like ScyllaDB for its compatibility with CQL and its large ecosystem. The community and documentation are amazing, which is a huge plus for us. I find ScyllaDB to be fast, atomic, and provides scalable column databases. The initial setup was pretty easy too, as we just used the docker image.

I think new features are not really visible unless you actually go looking for them.

**What do you like best about ScyllaDB?**

It supports CQL (Cassandra Query Language), so migrating or integrating with Cassandra-based systems is very easy. Automatic Sharding and Load balancing reduces our operational overhead and it makes the node management very easy. In-built Grafana monitoring tool is really awesome, we do not need to set them up separately.

**What do you dislike about ScyllaDB?**

ScyllaDB Cloud does not provide a way to visually browse databases, tables, or data rows. While it’s growing, there are fewer integrations or community tools.

**What problems is ScyllaDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use ScyllaDB for our internal data indexing and machine learning pipelines, which need to be fast and able to grow. ScyllaDB takes care of data distribution on its own and makes it easier for us to manage our database nodes, which saves us time on maintenance. Since we use ScyllaDB Cloud, scaling and upkeep are taken care of for us, letting our team stay focused on analytics and building better models instead of worrying about infrastructure.

It is a high performance, open-source NoSQL database; what is not to love? I think the way it is setup it really helps when building databases at scale.

**What do you dislike about ScyllaDB?**

There is some learning curve to using ScallyDB, so it is hard sometimes to get juniors on-boarded with using it given how specialised of a tool it is. It is also not a general purposes database which is both a pro and a con; meaning it fills a very narrow number of use-cases given the cost-benefit analysis.

**What problems is ScyllaDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The obvious answer is my answer which is dealing with high latency issues with traditional databases as well as high-throughput which is ideal for massive scale.

**What do you like best about ScyllaDB?**

ScyllaDB is very fast and handles a huge amount of data without any performance issues. We store large datasets for training our machine learning model, and it works smoothly even when the data keeps growing. Our setup is simple, and once it starts running, it needs very little care. (Thanks to Scylladb)

**What do you dislike about ScyllaDB?**

Nothing to dislike anything regarding performance and latency. Native data adapters still does not exist. AFAIK, we can not get live updates on any change in the data via any events or sockets. But I believe lots of features will eventually be added 🚀.

**What problems is ScyllaDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It saves the time, reduces delays. We are using ScyllaDB to store and manage crop and soil data for our ML model. The model predicts which soil, weather, and crop types are best for suitable environment. It also helps us test hybrid seed options. ScyllaDB makes it easy to handle and fetch this large data quickly, which helps our model train faster and give better results.

I find ScyllaDB's latency to be an extremely important feature. It's crucial for me because faster response times are essential for the projects I plan to work on in the future. The security aspect of ScyllaDB also stands out as a highly valued feature. Although I'm still in the learning phase, these features are significant reasons why I am planning to use this database. Furthermore, the initial setup of ScyllaDB was relatively easy for me, despite my being new and facing some difficulties initially. I like that ScyllaDB can handle very large amounts of data quickly and smoothly. It is easy to add more servers as our data grows, and the system balances the data across nodes on its own. It works well for real-time data processing and has been very reliable with no major downtime. I also like their initiatives to organize various events regarding how to use scylladb in various fields.

**What do you dislike about ScyllaDB?**

The main issue is that it uses a lot of system resources. Some features like search or graph queries are not built-in, and setting it up can be a bit hard for new users.

We use ScyllaDB for large-scale data processing, especially for security and analysis. It helps us store and read data at high speed, even when the volume is very large. Scaling is smooth and we rarely face problems with availability, which makes our data processing work much faster and more reliable.

It gives very high throughput, and it stays fast all time even when we send a lot of data at the same time. As Compared to MongoDB, the speed is much better, and the latency is very low.

Some tools and features we get easily in MongoDB are not available in ScyllaDB. Also, setting up the cluster needs some learning, and simple built-in monitoring could be better.

Scylladb makes our system more stable and quick than what we saw earlier with MongoDB. It improved our user experience and we also reduced the cost of database via using scylladb as our primary database.

Performance and latency are two key important thing that it's specialized for. But, The sharding system works well in our usecase. Each node manages its own part of data, so the load is balanced. Even when traffic grows, the database stays stable. The replica system also helps. Query times are low, and I don’t have to worry about slow responses. Community and customer support is amazing here.

The learning curve is a bit high at the start, especially when dealing with partitions and compactions.

ScyllaDB is very fast and  can handle a lot of with great efficiency. It works well for real-time use, heavy writes, and large-scale systems like IoT or analytics. Adding new nodes is quick and easy, and the data gets balanced automatically. It also works with Cassandra, so moving to it is simple. I also like that it runs on any cloud and supports containers.

Some features, like graph queries or advanced search, are missing compared to other databases. It can also take time to learn and set up, and the docs could use more real-world examples. Like most NoSQL systems, you have to deal with things like eventual consistency and fewer options for joins or transactions.

We also value the low operational overhead—compared to other NoSQL databases, ScyllaDB uses less infrastructure because of its auto-tuning features and effective hardware utilization. In particular, the native support for time-based TTLs is useful for automatically controlling log retention. It just operates on a larger scale.

ScyllaDB has a learning curve for teams used to Apache Cassandra or more traditional relational databases even if it boasts better performance. For some complex tuning parameters and architectural ideas, such log analytics, optimal performance for particular workloads depends on a better knowledge. Moreover, even if the documentation is usually good, some edge cases—especially those related to large-scale cluster management and repair activities—would benefit from more practical examples. Additionally, ScyllaDB’s support for transactions is limited, and features like secondary indexes and multi-key transactions are either not fully supported or have notable limitations. **What do you like best about ScyllaDB?**

I used to use Postgres as my go-to database. When I started using Scylla, its SQL-like syntax made it super easy for me to get used to it. Not only is it easier to get used to, but it's also lightning fast. Plus, Cassandra compatibility! I don't think I can ever go back to using Postgres again after experiencing this (unless it's part of the project requirement). Now, Scylla is my go-to database.

**What do you dislike about ScyllaDB?**

I'd be nitpicking here, but there are times when I just want to fetch something without using all partition keys or to update a field that happens to be a clustering key. Not as part of my project or test (that would be silly), but just for some random reason. Of course, that doesn't work the way it does with SQL. That's something I miss. But I really can't blame Scylla for this, I could have used any NoSQL database and the same would have been true.

**What problems is ScyllaDB solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Its lightning-fast speed has significantly reduced response time. As the biggest (or narrowest, if you will) bottleneck used to be database latency before, with Scylla that's not an issue anymore, as it responds within nanoseconds.

It’s really fast and handles a lot of data without slowing down. I like that it’s easy to scale and doesn’t need as much tuning as Cassandra. The global secondary indexes and other modern features are also very helpful. I like the sessions as well, very interactive + gives hands on experience. Customer support also gives timely response. Additionally, it was easy to integrate, my company Samespace uses it, overall its very handy and is frequently used

Some features are still a bit limited, and using secondary indexes can slow down writes. Also, the setup and docs can be a little hard to follow if you're new, but university was a great way to get myself started

At Samespace, we deal with real-time voice, chat, and customer interaction data at scale. ScyllaDB helps us handle this large volume of data with low latency and high throughput, which improves performance and reliability across our services.
