This tool requires improvement on various cloud service integration.(AWS, Azure and other cloud services) . **Recommendations to others considering SAP PowerDesigner:** SAP PowerDesigner is good for setting up middle ware frame work code such as data abstraction and TIBCO data services **What problems is SAP PowerDesigner solving and how is that benefiting you?** Using SAP PowerDesigner we have setup middle ware component and services to generated code for financial service applications, abstract data exchange to secure data from SQL Injection and improve performance. ### 2. And the PowerDesigner Viewer for viewing models for free. **What do you dislike about SAP PowerDesigner?** PD Portal: slow performance and handling of customizations. **Recommendations to others considering SAP PowerDesigner:** If you need a reliable enterprise-class modeling tool, look no further. But beware, PowerDesigner should be installed on Windows and the Portal version lacks some of its features. Lots of features that make modeling easy and maintenance is easy by using this tool. Liked the reporting capabilities on model. **What do you dislike about SAP PowerDesigner?** Connection to repository takes time and also sometime it creates issue while check-in the local model. **Recommendations to others considering SAP PowerDesigner:** It s one of the modeling tools that has all the required capabilities that we generally find in other popular modeling tool, plus it has more features that makes easy to use and add more information to model easily. **What problems is SAP PowerDesigner solving and how is that benefiting you?** Data Modeling ### 4. I'm not sure how the sales talks and lucky I wasn't invloved in the presale stage **What do you dislike about SAP PowerDesigner?** It's old, and it hasn't been sold in Taiwan this decade (server version). It may be powerful a decade ago. Stuff like reverse engineering on DDL and SQL generations seem too good to be true. Well, it just doesn't support the new technology database. If you ever need to draw DB design diagrams. Perhaps MS Visio or Excel drawing tool is good enough. There's no need to buy such an expensive too to do something so simple. **What problems is SAP PowerDesigner solving and how is that benefiting you?** Data warehouse design with a Financial group. The UI for data lineage still can be enhanced; 2. Capability to generate end to end query; **Recommendations to others considering SAP PowerDesigner:** Regarding enterprise level data modelling, I believe PowerDesigner is obvious the Top one. **What problems is SAP PowerDesigner solving and how is that benefiting you?** We used Power Designer in our data warehouse project to migrate from SAS to Hadoop. Power Designer provided huge benefit on the metadata design, data modelling and data lineage. We also used power designer to generate customized model related reports. We are really happy about the robust data modelling and forward-engineer capability of Power Designer. We had about 4 major designers and one architect to support modelling of different LOB with multiple phases covering concept modelling, logical modelling and physical modelling. Power Designer really handled the work pretty cool. ### 8. Overall, it has Improved the ability to collaborate on data modelling across our company. **What do you dislike about SAP PowerDesigner?** It is unfortunate that we have to view costs of tools such as these are a negative rather than an important empowerment, but C level executives have balked a the pricing.
