Business Objects is a powerful tool which used in the right way can help in effective analytics for any business.

- This application evolved from time to time, right from BO 6 until BI 4.0 right now. This tools has considered most of the latest technological developments into its evolution. So, anyone who plan to use this tool can be assured about a good long term relation with the application.

E.g: BI 4.0 now is 64-bit application and is capable of achieving more.

- Web Intelligence in BI 4.0 has come up with a revised user interface which is more convenient to use and looks pretty cool. The charts now are interactive. As this being a 64-bit application now, the application can run big amount of data without giving any memory problems.

- Now the latest Information Design Tool (which was formerly Universe Designer) is capable of accomodating multiple datasources into its universes and also compatible with SAP Hana.

Right now considering the latest SAP BI 4.0 application, we have encountered many bugs as the application has become really heavy now with many features included, and due to the same reason now the tools is comparatively slower than the previous versions.

The best thing on BO (BODS) is robustness, with BO you are capable to cover almost any requirements of business scenarios needed by the companies. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I can only comment from perspective of basis administrator., but I consider this product as very unstable, and not transparent for the maintenance. It is taking lot of disk space having files "everywhere", it is slow, there is often need to restart whole BO to get something working again, even automatic restarts implemented by crontab job or task scheduler are not useful because there is always need to check if all processes comes up (and they usually don't). This tool is best when used in combination with other SAP components. It can sit on top of SAP BI and pull data together from multiple sources, allowing you to make connections between seemingly unconnected data points. It also has the ability to expose its queries as web services, allowing for integration with other tools (i.e. Xcelsius Dashboards, etc). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Performance can be a little bit slow, but honestly, this would be the case with any reporting system if you have very large queries. Using SAP BI on top of HANA as a data source should help remedy this. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Business Objects provides a perfect solution solution for organisations with complete set of tools to manage business intelligence. With initial training users will be able to do self reporting and share among to develop more complex reports. I have used Webi 4.0 to generate complex reports and dashboard for visual view of business operations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

One thing I dislike with business objects is the response time when multiple users access the same universe. Due to inconsistent data results the product should improve in data connections. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
