Best part of SAP BPC is that it is user friendly. Business users mostly are comfortable with excel and BPC provided that excel interface with the help of EPM add in. Business users are happy with provision of planning in different version and then comparing them back. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It should be made little less IT dependent. Coding should be minimised and there should be more standard functions and packages which can handle most common scenarios. Data loading process can be simplified as well. Master data and hierarchies has scope of optimization. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like EPM Excel for Planning, where the Business users generally play with data. Another thing is the concept of Model and Dimensions where the Data is to be retrieved by the members as we need.
Another Interesting thing is the DM Packages to ETL process, where we can get the data from various sources. The most Intrest this is WorkStatus for data Consistency and data Secure. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I am not happy with the coding part in the BPC, which is a purely technical thing. As a functional Consultant, it is okay for " If, then, Else conditions," but not purely depend on ABAP and Java Scripts for BADI and other calculations point of view, where a purely Finance guy will not be fitted in this. Our legacy ECC, Oracle, Excel-based systems are integrated to feed into this system. Really handy and go-to tool for implementing any Supply Chain Related work for our clients. SAP Support is the USP for SAP BPC. Lots of Click-options to use and easy to learn quickly. Integration of scripts and BADIs makes it really handy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The main turn-off is the user-interface, GUI or whatever takes the general appeal of usability away. In our organization for SAP BPC to be widely used, it's interface and ubiquity needs improving. Secondly, the interface with Excel needs to be improved a lot as well. The data needs to be refreshed many times before it can be used. Finally, documentation on scripts is very limited. -Very useful for Budget Planning and Forecasting and reporting of it
-Very useful for simulation even on very detailed data
-Best tool for financial consolidation and reporting of it
-Enabling input data function on excel and also adjusting data from database on live forms Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
-Demands a lot of financial knowledge and majorly companies are not very well structured in terms of financial basis especially on consolidation part
-At some point you need to have the same knowledge as SAP Developers had in regards to Consolidation
-EPM integration was very problematic.
-Companies need to insist on the tool a lot to make it stable and useful tool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Most helpful feature of BPC is that you can either user a user friendly EPM version which is convinient to enterprise users customed to EXCEL or you can choose a feature rich embedded version which can be used with SAP AO and SAC. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
BPC is optimal solution only for client using existing SAP suite and is not optimal as a standalone version Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
1) It's tight Integration with the SAP landscape and flexibility to integrate the Non SAP systems.
2) The flexibility to create any rules as per the requirement Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
1) system incapability to handle large volume of records
2) analytics side is missing Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The best of the features in BPC is its modelling of dimensions and the relationship it allows across models to drive the business value for the legal entity. No more variations in the assumptions on Sales Numbers for Production and Finance and optimize the operations control with focus on corporate planning and consolidation Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The only hitch i could see is the control given at the Conversion File which passively controls the data update into BPC for the actual loads. This sometimes create lot of confusion when the conversion is required differently in BPC from the source data. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The integration with Excel and being able to use Excel and VBA adds immeasurable value.
BPC Script logic is very easy to master and gives much freedom to do just about any calculation and optimize performance, especially with top down distributions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The reporting tools are not really great, especially compared with other products. SAP has been trying to provide a good reporting tool over the last 10 years, changing the tool significantly between releases, only to come back to the tool that was available in 2007, which is still cumbersome to use.
Having to create every report on input sheet from scratch (with all the choice Excel offers), actually costs more than clients ever plan on, especially in terms of time, keeping in mind how expensive SAP consultants/contractors are.
FOX programs are very slow. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Easy to learn. BPC Embedded is just BW-IP with BPC front end. So to scale a project quickly.
It sumplifies the migration to S/4 HANA
Front end reporting tool is Excel Analysis addin. So easier for customisation with VBA Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Data refresh is Analysis office input forms and reports needs some improvement.
VBA codes are not stable.
Consolidation related development requires much CA and functional knowledge Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Friendly enough for most of the financial users who's familiar with MS Excel. Simplified administrative tasks and interface to whom ever not having heavy technical background.
customizable backend on BW4/HANA. Very powerful on data performance Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Super expensive on such a software platform with a simple structure. Besides powerful backend (HANA), the product functions only improve less than 1% in the past 12 years. Very customizable, which also means it rely on a lot of consultants' design efforts. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
