This is one of the finest tool in the market for code base analysis. It is easy to use and implement in the enviornment. It can be integrated with lot of DB's for quick results.

The tool provides good impact analysis capabilities. It also helps in performing code analysis and gives enough options to analyze the programs via flow charts, diagrams, animator options to walk through the codes, etc. There are other options that are useful in long-term use in projects which includes BRM which provides business intelligence reports after we give inputs on business functions on programs. The tool is much more competent w.r.t. previous tools like Revolve etc. but still the scoping of bigger projects and related options to get dependency, and diagrams are not that great. We do have to rely on a lot of manual analysis. It would be good if there is an option to look at level-wise analysis of complex programming and intercoupling between objects to scope our analysis.

It also fails in getting analysis from a lot of schedular programs which is still the tool limitation. It only supports a minimal 1-2 schedule in the tool.

There are a lot of limitations in the tool w.r.t. impact analysis. We already submitted 4-5 cases with the support and it has come to us as product limitations which include the animator option in impact analysis for source code other than COBOL, backtracing of programs capabilities (not too great) etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Micro focus COBOL analyzer is the best tool around and provides a platform to do analysis on a level that helps users to identify hidden patterns, & provide great insights. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

COBOL micro focus analyzer is a little complicated when it comes to understanding the tool in an expansive manner. There should be more user friendly in order to gain more users Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Couple of things I would like to mention:

- Deeper interactive analysis which is showing program structure, stack trace, data flow, change analyzer

- REST API and CI integration

- Code search capability

Well, no such downside but the tool requires a little bit of learning initially. Probably few videos might help users quickly learn the different functions.

Micro focus Modernization will be very helpful to modernize your application from Mainframe Cobol. It is easy to maintenance.and cost reduction. The best thing about microfocus visual cobol is it's integration with various RDBMS and ability to get deployed on various OS which helps to reuse the cobol code efficiently. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Sometimes I have faced performance issues with microfocus when I was trying to run integrated cobol applications and system was taking the maximum CPU usage. This may impact efficiency of the application. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
