The system does everything you need for setting up your own affiliate program, I tested a few different ones and this seemed to be the best compromise for features, price and how modern it looked. The system could allow more customisation in both the layout of the customer facing portal and potential API options for if you don't do things exactly like it expects you to.

One example is the system assumes that you always create a customer in Stripe for a free trial which we do not do as it would end up with a lot of redundant customers in there, this means that some of the reporting is not correct because the system doesn't know that a trial signup occurred, having an API call where you can pass the ID of the referred user would be helpful for people that don't run their entire setup via Stripe.

Because of the above and a few other things, we have had to do quite a bit of tweaking with CSS on the customer portal to hide certain parts to avoid any confusion for the end user, including some CSS to make the customer portal layout look correct on mobile devices, which is something that has been reported a while ago yet we had to fix it ourselves with CSS.

Adding additional options such as being able to stop affiliates from creating their own custom referral links would be good as well to make it as easy to use as possible for new affiliates, we did suggest this but the response was "It's not complicated for them to use their dashboard" which is very much a matter of opinion, yes for seasoned affiliates the concept of generating multiple referral links for different campaigns etc is perfectly normal but for people that are new to affiliate programs like some of our existing customers then giving them options to create additional links etc just causes unnecessary confusion when they are setting themselves up as an affiliate. Rewardful is incredibly easy to start affiliate marketing. The dashboard is straightforward with sane defaults, payouts are intuitaive, and it took basically no dev time to "install" since it works so flawlessly with Stripe. While we don't use the API it's very nice to have it available for future integrations with Zapier/our custom backend.

Small nitpick, but it's a little expensive for what it does. I'd feel like it's a no-brainer at closer to $30/mo but $50 is steep for the value we're currently getting from our affiliate campaigns. There is basically no comparable alternative, and if affiliates start rolling in I guess we wouldn't care anyway.

In order to test any kind of meaningful functionality, you have to pay $100/mo. Then it'll take a minute to realize whether this thing does what you want.

My expectations of a product like this are to abstract away the need to think about the logistics of managing affiliates for my products. The logistics of managing affiliates are:

1. Create an affiliate program

2. Keep track of how much I owe to affiliates per unit time

3. Make it easy for affiliates to be paid out

4. Automate away paying out affiliates

At best, Rewardful fulfills the first two of these requirements, everything else you'll have to handle yourself. This makes it so that you won't stop thinking about logistics pertaining to running your affiliate program. Their customer support is not very helpful and takes hours to respond so any hope of quick resolutions is moot. Further, set up instructions within a React web application are vague and unclear.
