We can Design, model and document building systems in the context of full building information model, including architectural and structural components. Because “I” in BIM means Information, one of the foremost important part of BIM. Streamlining the engineering design process with Revit. Use a single model to enhance the communication of design intent, before construction begins, this was the best. Also I am able to document each and every information and we have the complete model even before the construction begins. We here at techture used to prepare a model for detailed co-ordination of fabrication and installation. Design development stage is an important consideration to keep costs down. Each discipline must be precisely aware of the locations of other installations during the modelling phases. There will be surely many more things that can be mentioned about Revit that I missed but I honestly mentioned what I felt. **What do you dislike about Revit MEP?** As we all know no digital design software is perfect. And on the disadvantage side, it always automatically changes something or deletes something without even telling the users. This is the reason why many people use Revit as a drafting tool, rather than its full parametric potential, and we really disliked this drawback which always leads to huge wastage of time. Many times we even were not able to recover the elements when the model got corrupted. I guess Revit should look into this issue. To be very technical on disliking a feature in Revit what I encountered recently was when I change some parameters in a valve family without changing anything at the connector’s side, all the valves i.e. families got disconnected resulted in huge reinvestment of time. Also, Disconnection of families like sprinklers whenever I change its family categorisation because connecting all the sprinklers again to the main fire sprinkler line was very dishearten for us. **Recommendations to others considering Revit MEP:** Being a digital design software Revit MEP has its own set of Pros and Cons but I can say that it can be one of the best software to use and also Auto desk is continuously working on its improvements and updating its versions. **What problems is Revit MEP solving and how is that benefiting you?** There are various challenges in the AEC Industry which are getting solved with the concept of a simplified BIM tool “Revit”. Conducting simulations and interference detection earlier in the design process is one of the foremost problems that we here at techture are solving with Revit. That leads to a huge cost cut thus enhancing project delivery time & delivers high quality. Other benefits of using Revit are Spatial Coordination between the equipment and its Built-In building performance analysis is also very beneficial.Various other problems also got solve with that AddIn feature of Revit. It is very easy to model MEP elements such as ducts, pipes, cable trays, etc. The snap tool is very helpful for connecting ducts, pipes, cable trays, etc. We can also run clash tests to identify the clashes between MEP and resolve them in Revit itself. We can also assign different system types and color to ducts and pipes for differentiation and easy recognition. To model the MEP elements for Building Information Modelling (BIM), Revit MEP is very convenient. The MEP elements i.e. ducts, pipes, cable trays and conduits are easy to model by setting the routing preferences. In the routing preferences we can specifically assign the families of elbows, tee's, couplings, etc to be used while modeling. The snap tool makes it easy to model accurately. The trim command is also very helpful. We can specifically assign the angles, sizes and pipe segments to be used in the mechanical settings so that we can make sure that the standards are followed throughout the project as many users work on the same file (worksharing feature in Revit). We can use graphic override and assign different colours to different systems so that we can easily recognize the systems while modelling. We can assign various parameters as well to the elements for facility management. **What do you dislike about Revit MEP?** While modelling drainage, we have to give slope to the pipes, but we can't change the slope of the whole pipe system at once, we will have to remodel the whole thing. Well sadly, i can't tackle all the this it can offer but so starter, it reduces drafting, plan views, isometric and detailing of plan in by a huge time. Coordination of different services or system with the building is easily fix before hand the construction phase. Datas and drafts are easily edited in all plan in a matter of minutes. Being to see your project in a 3d environment so easily at a leeser effort i think is one of its best advantages because it enable us engineer to review the plan well. If your asking for disadvantages, well just need a well set up computer and a will to learn the software for starters. **What do you dislike about Revit MEP?** Well, you see eventhough you learn RevitMEP, its only a part of the whole REVIT software. This Software can be used for design, coordination and documentation, and thus a reason why many companies prefer it. **What do you dislike about Revit MEP?** Some big files take a lot of time, and are hard to work, sometimes need auditing. Shop drawing produced from sheet maybe poor based on graphics or due to other issues. Many troubleshooting issues are not answered. Wish there were multiple options and modification tools to create a family file. Smart features or guide to create parameters would have been great. Some symbols won't rotate despite the families orientation being changed and may disappear. **Recommendations to others considering Revit MEP:** It's a great software, and you need to be proficient to see it's benfits. There is a reason why it is the core of BIM industry. **What problems is Revit MEP solving and how is that benefiting you?** I have modelled a lot of projects related to building services. Created material take off, even used coordinating option like clash detection instead of Navisworks.
