  ### 2. Essential Low Code Tool with Versatile Connections

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Phoebe Vasilisa A. | Sabi@, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 14, 2026

**What do you like best about Retool?**

I like how practical Retool is for making connections (resources) and the preloaded components. It allows me to create low-code apps quickly, which are visually appealing and connect with various platforms. I enjoy how with a basic panel, our agents can interact with tools like Intercom, Zapier, Linear without needing to give them full access. The preloaded components are a great advantage, as I can create tools in minutes without having to code each element, like a graph or table. Additionally, I find the platform quite intuitive, which allowed us a simple initial setup.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

Some connections with APIs are still not so up-to-date, which sometimes makes me have to do it externally. Also, the memory limit for libraries that can be downloaded from an app, if it were higher, would be perfect.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Retool to create low-code apps quickly and visually appealing, connecting various platforms. It allows us to interact with tools like Intercom and Zapier without full access, and the preloaded components make it easy to create charts or tables in minutes.

  ### 3. Effortless Dashboard Creation with Retool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Eduard B. | Alternant - Développement Full-Stack, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 14, 2026

**What do you like best about Retool?**

I appreciate Retool because it allows me to create administrative dashboards quickly and clearly. It offers up-to-date dashboards without needing to code or maintain anything, which simplifies my life. What I like the most is its drag-and-drop principle, which quickly brings our ideas to life by simply selecting the right components. This makes it a functional system where data is displayed correctly without any hassle. Moreover, the initial setup with the self-hosted version was super simple.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

The only thing I would have improved would be to add a messaging component.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Retool to create clear and fast administrative dashboards without having to code. It's easier to maintain because it is self-hosted, and the drag-and-drop principle allows me to realize my ideas quickly.

  ### 4. Flexibility and Speed for Small Tech Teams

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** April L. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 14, 2026

**What do you like best about Retool?**

I really like the speed at which we can spin up fully functioning, multiple-page apps with Retool. It's a huge benefit for us as a small startup with a very small (2 person) tech team. Additionally, I appreciate the flexibility it provides while being low code / no code, assisted by AI, which is essential for managing our internal tooling needs.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

Moving things around can be tricky. Would be amazing if moving the order of items in the component tree moved them in the app itself. The side windows would be great if they could be undocked and put on other windows, its hard to do any work on a smaller screen.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Retool offers more flexibility as a low code/no code solution aided by AI, helping us overcome Airtable's record count limits and handling more complex workflows.

  ### 5. Retool Streamlines Product Uploads and Speeds Up Publishing

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Zizo L. | Ecommerce Specialist, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 18, 2026

**What do you like best about Retool?**

I like Retool because it streamlines the way we prepare and upload products for our online store. It makes managing product data straightforward, helps reduce errors, and speeds up the publishing process, which ultimately improves our overall efficiency.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

One downside of Retool is that it can feel limiting when you’re trying to handle more complex workflows or bulk product uploads, and it sometimes ends up requiring extra manual steps. It also depends heavily on how well everything is set up: if the underlying data structure isn’t clean, you can run into errors, slowdowns, or general inefficiencies.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Retool helps us avoid slow, manual product management by providing a central place to prepare, manage, and upload product data for our online store.

  ### 6. Retool Streamlines Backend Product Management for Faster Launches

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Zethu F. | E-commerce Marketing Assistant, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 10, 2026

**What do you like best about Retool?**

I like Retool because it streamlines our backend product processes and makes it easier to manage and prepare products so they’re ready for customer-facing platforms.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

The system can feel slow when many users access it at the same time, which can delay getting products online for a large team of 500+ users.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

By making information, images, and features instantly accessible when a consumer clicks, Retool solves the issue of maintaining and organising product data. This helps us by speeding backend procedures and producing a seamless and engaging customer experience.

  ### 7. Fast App Building with Customization Challenges

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sam S. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 14, 2026

**What do you like best about Retool?**

I like that Retool is fast and quick to assemble apps. It's really easy for me to quickly create views for our customer team to use. The initial setup of Retool was also very easy.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

The tables are so ugly, and I wish that there was more customizability there. Also, the graphs too are pretty limited in terms of customizability. I wish it was easier to add custom React components like I can with Plotly.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Retool to quickly build dashboards that display live data, helping our customer team track performance effectively.

  ### 8. Empowers Team with User-Friendly Data Access

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Natalie D. | Director of Product, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 24, 2026

**What do you like best about Retool?**

I like Retool's ability to expand access to data upload across the team, which means we don't have to rely completely on engineers for this task. I also find the initial setup easy. Additionally, I appreciate that it solves the problem of uploading with a GUI instead of just on the backend.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

I think Retool could be a bit more user-friendly for non-technical folks.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Retool solves the problem of uploading data with a GUI, making the process more accessible. It enhances our ability to expand data upload access across the team, reducing reliance on engineers.

  ### 14. Retool Supercharges App Development with Seamless AI and CI/CD Integration

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Glen W. | Digital Architect, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 10, 2025

**What do you like best about Retool?**

There are many great things about Retool.
1. Creating enterprise quality applications very quickly.
2. Ability to connect with source control.
3. Ability to connect and kick off CI/CD.
4. Built in unit tests that automatically run on changes. So, very "pushed left" into the app developer environment.
5. Very useful integration of AI. The editor makes AI a collaborator. AI can handle iterative development.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

No known issues at this point. We are early in our adoption process.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The big one is application development acceleration. We have a very large backlog of pending work.

  ### 15. ReTool Lets You Build Exactly What You Need—Fast and Easy

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 21, 2026

**What do you like best about Retool?**

ReTool is fantastic for tech-enabled business owners. You create EXACTLY what you need with relative ease.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

I can't think of anything that I dislike, maybe the prefab boxes could have a better UI

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have our entire CRM backend tool on ReTool, to get something like this made would cost 5 figures and have an ongoing maintenance contract from the supplier.

  ### 16. Retool is excellent to use

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aaron R. | IT Systems Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 08, 2024

**What do you like best about Retool?**

I think one of the best things about Retool is how it empowers developers to build internal tools quickly and efficiently. Its drag-and-drop interface makes it easy to connect with various data sources and APIs without needing to start from scratch. Plus, the ability to customize components using JavaScript offers a great balance between speed and flexibility, allowing for robust applications that can adapt to specific business needs. Overall, it streamlines the process of tool development, making it accessible even for teams with limited resources.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

Somewhat complex for new users, especially those who aren’t familiar with JavaScript or backend concepts.

Integration: Retool seamlessly connects to various data sources and APIs, making it easier to pull in and manipulate data from different platforms, which benefits our teams needing to streamline workflows.

User-Friendly Interface: The drag-and-drop interface simplifies the design process, enabling non-developers to participate in building tools, which enhances collaboration across teams.

Customization: Despite its user-friendly nature, Retool offers deep customization options through JavaScript, allowing for tailored solutions that meet specific business needs.

  ### 17. Has helped me "wow" everyone at every job I've had.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Camilo M. | Business Intelligence Analyst, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 20, 2025

**What do you like best about Retool?**

The ease and speed in which you can deploy very impressive internal apps is something that I have never experienced before. It has honestly changed the way I look at internal tools and helped me wow all my bosses in every single job I've ever had. Has also boosted my creativity when it comes to finding creative solutions to any software/tool problem I or the company I'm working for faces :)

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

There really isn't any significant downside, the only thing is that it might be a bit limited when it comes to base customization of things, however with the custom components and some cool workarounds you can basically do everything you'd ever want.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It has helped me automate and optimize processes with ease. I can find a solution to any process with retool.

  ### 18. Dream To Reality with Retool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Thabang M. | Entrepreneur, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 10, 2025

**What do you like best about Retool?**

I was at beginner level in coding and still am. I used it for a week and had my app done within that time frame. Very easy to use. Simple. I have managed to make a mobile app that I can pilot and use.The Implentation of compoenets and widget tools was very easy to use. In editing, colouring, fraimng my pages for each its use. Watch the space because something life changing for us, the people.... is coming. I'm definetely going to recommend this to my friends and family. If you have an Idea, do not be afraid to put it to good use. My first ever app and honestly, Im proud of what I see. Thank you Retool!! You have a lifetime friend overhere.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

Had a few errors in the beginning as some tools were hard to use but after persistence I managed to get exactly what I wanted. Honestly, the only dislike is that I cant make it into an apk file and be able to share and use it as , not everyone i shared with for pilot use was keen on wanting to hace to download the app then open via a link after creating an account.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Some drag and drop applications and softwares I used previously were not this easy to use. I could share the project with friends and family too. I thought making an App would be a lot harder and require alot more of my time. I wish I had done this 5 years ago

  ### 19. Fastest Way to Build Internal Tools with Real-Time Data Access

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Donghwa L. | Product Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 03, 2025

**What do you like best about Retool?**

Retool significantly reduces the time required to build internal dashboards and admin panels. The drag-and-drop UI makes it easy to lay out components, while the ability to write custom JavaScript enables flexible logic. We were able to connect to our database and internal APIs within minutes. The built-in components (like tables, forms, and modals) are polished and production-ready, which saved us days of front-end work.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

While Retool is very capable, there are occasional layout limitations that may require minor workarounds. Pricing could also be a consideration for teams that are rapidly scaling. For more complex workflows, non-engineers might find the logic setup slightly challenging at first — though the documentation and community support help bridge that gap.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Retool streamlines internal tool development by letting us build data-driven UIs without writing full front-end code. It reduces engineering overhead and speeds up iteration by connecting directly to our databases and APIs.

  ### 20. A great tool for developers who want to leverage abstraction and built-in front-end components

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** George K. | Automation Consultant, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 10, 2025

**What do you like best about Retool?**

I really enjoy the variety of components that come inside the app editor. I like the fact that they focus on technical people (i.e. developers) who speak the same language, yet they empower them with the right features they need to build internal tools faster and seamlessly. Most things are customizable and easily managed with coding! Although I like to use niche tools each focused on solving a specific problem, I have been enjoying how Retool combines various elements of a platform development process (e.g. built-in dashboard, file storage, automation workflows and email).

Their community forum and support are great, as a result of both contributing members and Retool experts! Moreover, their pricing plans are generous.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

It can get quite pricey if you want to deploy an app to the public that is focused on external users. It is best for building internal tools. Even if I built an internal app, I would have liked to have the ability to share a public URL instead of inviting my colleagues to sign up and join. At the same time, I find that sometimes the app editor is lagging and could respond faster. Last but not least, I tried adding their Mapbox component, but I didn't have the option to customize it fully. I will need to develop one myself in React and then add it to my Retool app.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It targets developers who want to build internal tools, dashboards and admin panels inside low-code platforms. The develop enjoys having the drag-and-drop feature. Otherwise as a developer I would have to either custom code it myself from scratch or use npm packages trying to architect various components together myself.

  ### 21. Retool makes me feel like a team of 10 :)

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Logistics and Supply Chain | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 22, 2025

**What do you like best about Retool?**

Retool is honestly one of the best tools I’ve worked with in the last few years. It’s crazy how easy it is to build powerful internal apps or middleware without getting lost in boilerplate code or endless setup.

A few years ago, building what I can now do with Retool would’ve taken a full team, but now I can do it all myself in a fraction of the time.

The UI is intuitive, connecting to APIs or databases is fast, and scripting logic into your tools is quick.
I’ve used it to automate tasks, build dashboards, and link systems together that didn’t talk before, and it just works very very well.

If you’re looking to move fast and flexible, and enjoy building tools, give Retool a try: it’s a productivity boost I didn’t know I needed.
AAA+ for me.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

NO FTP CLIENT INTEGRATION! :)
Please give it to us!!! (legacy enterprises still use it)

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Integrate with different systems it's very very easay

  ### 22. Retool can truly be used in every way possible for software development!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hugo L. | Owner, founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 04, 2025

**What do you like best about Retool?**

Retool makes all front-end work very simple, which saves a lot of time that I can dedicate to developing background processes. With the help of Workflows and custom queries, it becomes much easier for a programming beginner like me.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

Sometimes, it can be challenging to create fully customized processes, but the ability to write JavaScript and CSS everywhere makes this manageable. The Retool team constantly improves the platform based on user needs, adding great new features—like the recent Multi-Page App support, which has been highly appreciated!

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Retool helps me streamline and automate property management processes by providing an easy way to build custom applications without spending too much time on frontend development. It simplifies database interactions, API integrations, and background automation through Workflows. This allows me to focus more on backend logic and optimizing real estate data processing. The flexibility of JavaScript and SQL within Retool makes it easy to customize solutions while still benefiting from a low-code environment.

  ### 23. Versatile approach for quick solutions

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 15, 2025

**What do you like best about Retool?**

The thing I love about Retool is that allows you to solve operational issues in a pretty straightforward way: "can we solve it with a retool?" If the answer is no, then we automatically justify assigning proper resources to a given development.
Retool is so powerful in its applications yet so simple in its implementations, that 90% of the regular problems that could arise in production can be handled by an app that can regularly be completed in under an hour (without aesthetic efforts). If you cannot make it easily in Retool, perhaps you shouldn't make it in Retool
Be it interacting with your DB, your backend, making specific calculations, working with your cloud provider, Retool is the path to avoid relying on scripts in some intern's laptop.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

Honestly, only my biased dislike of javascript, as it is the used for pretty much anything that is not an out-of-the-box interaction for a given element. Besides that point (which is really not an issue), Retool is great for what it does.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

anytime i need someone to interact with our database, where there is not a provided BE solution directly available, i can simply make a Retool that makes said interaction in a predefined, validated and secure way. it is also a great way

  ### 24. The ultimate versatile platform for in-house data based apps

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Yaakov G. | Bike shop owner and operator, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 13, 2025

**What do you like best about Retool?**

As a software developer, I really like the immediate availability of all the building blocks of a full fledged app - database, file storage, interfaces, etc. Also the ease with which the interface components connect to the backend resources is such a breeze! Most or maybe even all the standard use cases for displaying data can be implemented in just a few minutes. I was able to set up all the data infrastructure and UI for a bike business, including tracking repairs, rentals, bike tours, and inventory in just a couple of days.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

The highly opinionated nature of the platform can be a limitation at times, but there is always a workaround.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was looking for a solution for a small business (bike shop) that included a number of interrelated and complex areas of activity - rentals, repairs, purchases, sales, and inventory. The only kind of existing software that could satisfactorily solve all those things would be enterprise packages that are very expensive and unwieldy for a small business.

  ### 25. A powerful and simple tool for rapid application development

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Carlos P. | Multitask (Family company), Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 02, 2025

**What do you like best about Retool?**

What I like most about Retool is how quickly it allows you to develop applications without needing extensive coding knowledge. It's super easy to use and connect with databases or APIs. Additionally, the interface is very intuitive, which makes the development process much more agile. Ideal for saving time and focusing on what really matters.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

Honestly, not much. I've been developing an advanced CRM for a few weeks, and if I had to mention something, it would be that it doesn't have a system to rename components dynamically (or at least I haven't detected one). Changing the name of each object one by one can be quite tedious when working with larger scenes. But other than that, everything's great.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The reduction of time in the development and setup of the CRM, the quick setup, and the possibility to test it quickly (Trial and error made easier)

  ### 26. Great tool to build internal tools UI

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Isaac M. | VP Engineering, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 01, 2025

**What do you like best about Retool?**

I like that Retool strikes a great balance between low-code simplicity and flexibility — it lets you build quickly without code when needed, but still gives you the control to create better UIs when it matters.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

The pricing model is hard to make it work when your user base is big.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our backend developers used to face a barrier when it came to contributing to our internal tools — they lacked the frontend expertise. With Retool, that’s no longer a limitation. They can now build and contribute to the tools they’ve always wanted, without needing to become frontend specialists. On top of that, we no longer need a dedicated team managing patching and frontend dependencies.

  ### 27. A Game-Changer for Building Internal Tools at Lightning Speed

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Leisure, Travel & Tourism | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 10, 2025

**What do you like best about Retool?**

Honestly, what blew me away was the speed. I'm using it for the first time and I managed to build a functional tool in just one afternoon, something I thought would take me at least a few days. Connecting it to my database was surprisingly easy, it just worked. I love that even though it's so simple to start, I can still write my own code if I ever need to do something more specific. I can already see how much time this is going to save me.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

It can get a bit complex when you want to build something really custom. The basics are simple, but it can sometimes be difficult to find and connect more complicated actions, like making one button trigger several different steps.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The biggest problem Retool solves for us is the slow, manual process of interacting with our database. Previously, if I needed to view customer data, I have to run a manual query.
Retool gives us a way to get quick access to our databases and present that data in a really clear way, like in a table or a list. The main benefit is that we can now manage all that information in a surprisingly simple way. We can build tools with forms and buttons that let our team safely create, update, or delete records without needing any technical help. It has saved us a huge amount of development time.

  ### 28. Fastest way to handle information and build tools

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Holden L. | Co-Founder, Financial Services, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 09, 2025

**What do you like best about Retool?**

Super quick to pick up, even for new users.
Drag-and-drop interface is intuitive and responsive.
Endless possibilities for creating custom tools.
Wide variety of components available to build anything you need.
Excellent documentation and videos for guidance.
Solid error handling ensures stability when building applications.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

Takes some time to fully get used to, but resources help bridge the gap.
While non-technical users can easily interact with completed products, creating tools independently could be challenging.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Retool helped us solve the challenge of building an internal tool to manage our customers, update our database, and view files and uploads efficiently. We needed a solution that could be launched in just a few days, and Retool made it incredibly easy to connect to our existing infrastructure and build the tools we required. Additionally, it provided a user-friendly interface that even non-technical team members could interact with, enabling our entire team to manage operations effectively without requiring extensive training or technical expertise.

  ### 29. Transformative Tool for Rapid App Development

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bruno S. | Founding Software Engineer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 19, 2024

**What do you like best about Retool?**

Retool has completely changed the way I build apps. The drag-and-drop interface is super intuitive, making it easy to piece together complex applications without writing tons of code. I love how seamlessly it connects with all sorts of data sources and APIs—whether it's a SQL database or a REST API, Retool handles it all effortlessly. Plus, the pre-built templates save me so much time when starting new projects.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

While I love using Retool, there are a few hiccups. The learning curve was a bit steep at first, especially when diving into more advanced features.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Retool has been a lifesaver for streamlining our internal processes. We've built several apps that help automate tasks and manage data more efficiently, saving us hours every week. It's also cut down on our development costs since we don't need to hire extra developers for every little tool we need. Overall, it's made my job easier and our team more productive.

  ### 30. Fast way to build powerful tools

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 03, 2025

**What do you like best about Retool?**

Retool is fantastic. I was able to create a fully functional app in just a couple of days, even without much coding or web architecture experience. The interface is clear, and it’s especially great for adding AI features easily. Highly recommend if you want to move fast and build reliable tools.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

The UI can be a bit unclear at times. It’s easy to spend several minutes clicking around to figure out how to do something simple. A bit more guidance or clearer workflows would help.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Retool lets me build internal apps without needing to involve the tech team. I can quickly create AI prototypes, experiment with workflows, and automate parts of our company processes. This saves time, reduces dependency on developers, and helps us move faster.

  ### 31. Retool and recommendation

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vedant T. | SDE, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 13, 2024

**What do you like best about Retool?**

Its ability to handle the complex data patterns and displaying it in very efficient manner.
It provides easy to use UI to start with creative dashboards.
Integration with Rest API, Google spreadsheets etc.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

As it has lots of features sometime it is difficult to have the idea of all features immediately. For example i didn't knew that i can write python code in the workflow and run it using a different input feature as workflow and display it in the ui for user.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As retool is efficient to build the interactive dashboards it helps in displaying the complex table data and api response in proper and well created UI. It all handles the data and user to customize the errors and data restrictions can be set by user.
Upto what extent data should be displayed. Different functions can be written to handle google sheets and run python code for understanding the user requirements.
For me it resolved the problem of complex data to display easily and in dynamic way.

  ### 32. Great tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mark B. | IT Administrator, Religious Institutions, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 19, 2025

**What do you like best about Retool?**

I have 0 experience in development but building an app is super easy with Retool

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

I have zero dislikes about Retool. I have not found them yet.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I am creating a dashboard with information that comes from an API.

  ### 33. Flexible, highly performance and customisable tool

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kevin K V. | Operations Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 02, 2025

**What do you like best about Retool?**

Retool has allowed me to both spinup prototypes as well as extremely functional internal tooling that has given me fine control of the components that I am utilising for the application

It's a great combination of off the shelf components, as well as lots of opportunities to use JavaScript to add almost limitless functionality beyond what other low-code tools are able to allow.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

Some of the online tutorials are slightly outdated, but the need to use them is extremely infrequent

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I needed a tool that allowed me to access multiple databases, query that data, and send processed data to a number of webhooks to trigger a chrome extension that I have built.

It has been extremely quick to drag and drop the components that I needed to make it all work, and simple to create the queries that allow this to happen

  ### 34. Very impressed - intuitive and adaptable

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Henry N. | CX Lead, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 28, 2024

**What do you like best about Retool?**

Very fast and responsive - intuitive too. I have experience as a front-end developer but I haven't found the need to rely on those skills too much. I find it very easy to use. The preview function is good and also the releases and history mean I can roll back if I have an issue. I have been using a combination of ChatGPT & Claude to help me when I get stuck.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

I have found it a little bit difficuilt to view my app in a mobile viewport. Also some limitations in terms of theming. I would say maybe as a true "no code" tool it would be quite a lot more limited, if people had no idea about code then they might get stuck.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Quicky build a usable app that we can hand out internally. Usually we'd rely on a dev team to build this but we're able to do this in-house.

  ### 35. Fantastic tool for building a number of solutions without staffing a developer

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Justin F. | Revenue Analyst, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 02, 2024

**What do you like best about Retool?**

After trying a number of low-code applications, I found that Retool was the perfect fit for functionality, flexibility, and ease of use. I am not a developer and have very little experience with wring any coding language. But, with nothing more than ChatGPT and the super helpful Retool community, I've was able to spin up a number of simple to complex tools and applications that provide deep analysis with directy BigQuery connections and automated data.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

The negatives I've had so far are few and far between. If I had to pick one, it would be a longer roadmap on some of the very specific features I've been waiting for like native pivot table functionaltiy. However, I 've been able to find workarounds with the help of the community.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Building complex marketing and sales analysis tools that connects to multiple databases.

  ### 36. Useful for Internal Tools

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed Date:** September 17, 2025

**What do you like best about Retool?**

Easy to access Rest APIs and BigQuery quickly.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

The UI is a bit bland compared to some competitors.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I needed to connect data from BigQuery to Postgres data sources. The tool is helpful for this.

  ### 37. Best tool for fast interactive internal tools.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Angel R. | Customer Enablement Operations Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 31, 2024

**What do you like best about Retool?**

What I love most about Retool is its incredible flexibility and speed in building custom interactive tools. The platform allows us to bring together APIs, databases, and even AI agents seamlessly, letting us create interactive, dynamic KPI that are tailored precisely to stakeholder needs. The ability to write and execute Python, JavaScript, and SQL directly within the platform gives us control over everything, from data processing to creating unique visual components. It’s a powerful, all-in-one solution that accelerates development and has become essential for our operations.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

The main downside is the learning curve—Retool can feel a bit overwhelming for team members without coding experience. Advanced customizations sometimes need extra support or technical know-how, which can slow down non-developers. But once you get it, is easy for any implementation you need.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Retool is helping us build a fully interactive dashboard that pulls data from multiple sources, all in one place. By connecting APIs and integrating AI agents, we’re able to get real-time data, fast insights, and summaries that make decision making smoother. This setup has been a game changer, saving us tons of time and allowing our team to interact with the data directly, no need for jumping between tools or manual data updates.

  ### 38. Flawless and stable over long periods of time for internal apps

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Prashant K. | Head of Technology and Product, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 29, 2024

**What do you like best about Retool?**

There are quite a few things that stand out in retool, but for building internal applications, the amount of documentation and examples available are of really high quality.
We are a financing company, and raise debt from external retail investors from time to time, we have been using retool since Mid 2021 and once made, it has worked flawlessly. We use it to do interest calculations, send statement of accounts and handling customer queries. Customer Support is fast and agile, and using it is a breeze for operations managers.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

I think the resources and connections to complicated data sources could be made a little better.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are a Non banking financial services company and Retool helos us to
- Manage entire customer lifecucle of our debt raised ( Keep in mind that the debt is for a period of 3-5 years, so we need extremely stable systems )
- Reduced the time to launch to 1 week from 8-10 weeks if we had built it from scratch
- No libraries to maintain, no conflicting errors and operations can do small edits of their own

  ### 39. Alternative to building desktop software or custom web apps

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sayyid A. | Software Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 29, 2024

**What do you like best about Retool?**

With as little code as possible, I'm able to implemenent commonly used functionalities in a matter of minutes, with a drag and drop interface. I have been using using Retool for more than 3 years, and I am able to quickly provide software services to businesses and move on to the next project. This saves me (as a developer) and the business, time and money. The ability to integrate with popular platforms and the adaptability with unpopular platforms, is very powerful.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

Retool can be slow or buggy sometimes, and reaching their support team for bugs has become a longer process than before, which wastes time while using an alternative approach.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Retool allows building user interfaces as fast as possible with a drap and drop interface and a nice and easy way to customize UI components. I no longer need to make custom ReactJS applications or spend time building a user interface from scratch using HTML/CSS/JavaScript. Another powerful feature is the ability to write SQL directly within Retool's app editor, which allows me to skip the part of building a custom backend server and connecting it to a database server.

  ### 40. Seamless Integration with Looker

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sunny R. | Placement Coordinator, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 21, 2025

**What do you like best about Retool?**

The seamless integration with Looker was one of the best things. With this we were able to directly pull looker datasets regarding associates' productivity into retool and used that to create interactive dashboards and availability of customise tools for specific operational needs also played a great role in simplifying our work

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

The retool platform is powerful but sometimes it showed us failure in loading the dashboards and some features, even though it was not happening regularly but still, it was a little bit irritating

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

By integrating looker data we could centralise data for productivity KPIs, also manage line adherence on real-time basis, and manage quality KPIs by creating interactive dashboards for the same. For our Czech Republic-based client it was helping them in better visibility into key metrics, the current status of pending cases and their quick resolution

  ### 41. Retool allowed growth for both me and my company

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alejandro M. | Senior Business Analyst, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 09, 2024

**What do you like best about Retool?**

Being a low-code tool, it was easy for me to start using it as a non-technical employee. It has allowed me to build over 50+ tools, dashboards, and prototypes, used daily by users, in significantly less time than other alternative solutions. It also offered me great customization options to make sure apps not only work but also look great. Overall, this is a wonderful tool for prototyping or automating pieces of work.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

It is easy that a 'prototype' will be good enough for users, that it would remain as a production product. It is important not to forget about the bigger picture and ensure that all production solutions are aligned with other company standards.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Retool is allowing us to build custom ways to see data not available in mainstream BI tools. For example when looking at a weather event and how would that impact customers, sometimes selecting countries, cities from a dropdown is not a great way to do it, as human-made borders don't necessarily align with weather events. Retool allowed us to create a custom HTML component that would use a map as a reference to select a number of affected users and query all relevant information needed for the business to action, greatly reducing the time needed to do this task while increasing accuracy of potentially affected users.

Additionally Retool is allowing the study and testing of Proof of Concept ideas, making quick developments to test if an idea works before investing talent time and company resources on some untested idea. This is specially relevant with Retool's integrated AI features, and the potential unexplored use-cases of this technology.

  ### 42. Simple to use, fast to iterate

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jens S. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 19, 2024

**What do you like best about Retool?**

The simplicity of building out internal applications for the team or external prototypes to prove a solution without the need to scaffold a react or svelte application.
The time it takes to build applications are 1/10th of how I used to build applications.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

There are some limitations around the UX/UI that you wont have in your application in React and there are somewhat limited integrations against GCP.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Most of the time its very easy to build out business process layers in retool using workflows to enable the business to build out the services and the data layers they need, then integrate it to retool to build out the business process layers.
The simplicity of managing these layers for non engineers are stunning and can create both frontends to manage it or manage it through simple changes in code and workflows.

  ### 43. Powerful, flexible and reasonably easy to use

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andrew J. | Founder / CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 23, 2024

**What do you like best about Retool?**

It has provided me the functionality I needed to create a small photo asset management database to assist with web site product sales without a huge price tag of database software. I've found it very flexible and powerful with a large number of integrations and options needed. The forums are very helpful and the documention is also good.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

It is sometimes difficult to get the code and scripting correct for what I am needing, but this is likely more due to my lack of knowledge than the platform. Some parts of the UI (mainly arround the modal and home areas) I have found a little confusing and could possibly be made simpler.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Photo asset management - tag and description management mainly. This is to prepare the images for sale in a Shopify storefront.

  ### 44. It's been good, it works for the work I'm doing.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Consumer Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 30, 2025

**What do you like best about Retool?**

For creating mvp visualizations it is very good. It works great with integrations to different applications.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

If you could have a guide for documentation for new users or maybe have a wizard to guide, for that you can contact Atom ;) .

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Create mvps for AI work. It communicates well with different environments and works well for me for that.

  ### 45. Retool is a great tool to write your low-code/no-code app.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 27, 2025

**What do you like best about Retool?**

Retool has a lot of handy features that you can use instead of writing them from scratch. Saving us hours of work in a few drag-and-drop and low-code adjustments.

We use it every day, and it's super easy to use and implement compared to alternatives like Tableau. The integration was super fast, and we stopped paying for other third-party tools for our platform.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

I think their backlog has a lot of feature requests and they are slow on deploying them.
Their AI coder could be better.
Customer support could be more handy and fast.
Their built-in features could be much more customizable, it makes us use a lot of custom nodes, which are fine but very hard to handle.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Delivering easy to use platform to our customers

  ### 46. RETOOL_IMPLEMENTATION

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mike K. | Senior Software Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 08, 2024

**What do you like best about Retool?**

Retool has a lot of built in functionalities, can connect to any db setup, even works with graphql.
Once you have your DB connected, building an application is simple and straightforward. Just drag the componenet we need and the configure it with some help of javascript.

Truly recommend for company that are building internal tool.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

to spport more and more components in the future

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For building internal tool, it usually takes at least one UI and one Backend engineer, with the help of retool, UI engineer can quickly drag basic components and start writing javascript to make it happen.
Backend can provide an entry point like GraphQL to connect to DB data easily.

I believe in the long run, you can also use retool to build a CRM system.

  ### 49. Retool is an excelent tool to create flexible dashboards

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Felipe P. | Senior Data Scientist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 23, 2024

**What do you like best about Retool?**

I like the flexibility of the platform, as it allows you to fetch data from a wide variety of sources and manipulate the results on the fly using JS. I also like the flexibility of the graphs that one can build, as retool exposes the pyplot API that gives you further flexibility when it comes to the kinds of graphs you can make.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

I personally think that Retool should add support for more data sources that are still missing, or give the ability to add custom sources by setting up calls via a client (such as a JS or Python client) with the appropriate drivers. This is an actual bottleneck to using the platform.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The problem that Retool solves for me is being able to put together dashboards that empower our stakeholders to make data driven decisions. It is a platform where development is fast and deployment of changes is trivial, making iteration really easy.

  ### 50. Streamlining API Integrations with Retool: A Developer's Perspective

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sebastián D. | Senior Software Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 21, 2024

**What do you like best about Retool?**

My favorite part about using Retool is how seamlessly it allows us to consume services from different APIs and tools. The built-in integrations significantly speed up the development process, making it incredibly efficient to build and deploy applications. Additionally, I really enjoy the GitHub integration, which simplifies version control and collaboration, and the fact that I don’t have to worry about hosting the application on my own servers is a huge plus.

**What do you dislike about Retool?**

While I generally have a positive experience with Retool, one area for improvement could be the customization options for the UI components. Although the built-in components are robust, having more flexibility in styling and layout customization would enhance the user experience and allow for a more tailored interface to meet specific project needs.

**What problems is Retool solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Retool is solving the challenge of building and maintaining a complex back-office application that needs to interface with multiple APIs and databases. By providing a platform with pre-built components and seamless API integrations, Retool allows us to quickly develop and iterate on our back-office tools. This application is used daily by tens of employees, and the speed at which we can roll out updates and new features is crucial to maintaining our operational efficiency. Retool’s flexibility and ease of use have significantly reduced the development time and effort required, allowing us to focus more on refining the functionality and improving the user experience for our team.
