"Resource Management is overall great for productivity"
What do you like best about Resource Management by Smartsheet?

Intuitive Resourcing View – The visual allocation grids make it really easy to see who is overbooked, underutilized, or available. Drag-and-drop scheduling feels natural compared to traditional spreadsheets.

Scenario Planning – You can run “what-if” scenarios for staffing and project timelines, which helps project managers make informed trade-offs before committing resources.

Integrated Time Tracking – Team members can log time directly against assignments, keeping resourcing data connected to actuals without needing a separate tool.

Portfolio-level Insights – Reports and dashboards show capacity, demand, and utilization across projects, making it easier for leadership to plan strategically and avoid bottlenecks.

Seamless Smartsheet Integration – Since it’s part of the Smartsheet ecosystem, it plugs right into broader project plans, dashboards, and workflows without a lot of manual duplication. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Resource Management by Smartsheet?

Limited Granularity

– It works very well at the project/role level, but it’s not as strong when you need detailed task-level resourcing or highly complex dependency management.

Reporting Constraints

– Built-in reporting is good for utilization and capacity, but more advanced/custom reporting sometimes requires workarounds or exporting data.

Time Tracking Adoption

– The time entry feature is simple, but adoption can be hit-or-miss; if people don’t log time consistently, utilization data can become unreliable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Functional but not ideal for dynamic schedules."
What do you like best about Resource Management by Smartsheet?

Resource profiles can be customized, and the ability to create managed resources that do not count toward overall license costs is a significant plus when you're working with contractors or trying to do pipeline planning. The overall implementation for our team went well, as it is a straightforward view of timecards and worklists. Our team worked in the system daily. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Resource Management by Smartsheet?

Updating schedules or worklists is extremely tedious with the limited copy/paste functionality, and there is no ability to bulk update dates or push dates out based on dependencies. For projects that had lengthy worklists, one delay requires manual adjustment of all of the remaining tasks that are scheduled which became nearly impossible to manage. The customer support was generally responsive to an inquiry but largely unhelpful, and unable to assist with issues that arose. The system was a bit glitchy overall, too, sometimes creating duplicate scheduled tasks or not registering a task in someone's timecard, which could easily ruin someone's schedule. The schedule view was also hard to navigate as it is very clunky and slow to work with. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
