What do you like best about Relay?

Relay is the first banking platform I’ve used that genuinely feels built for operators. The UI is clean and fast, the account structure makes cash management (and Profit First-style allocation) insanely simple, and everything feels like it is designed to reduce friction: opening accounts, moving money, setting permissions, and staying organized.

But the real differentiator is the support. Bernardo Tellini has been exceptional, responsive, proactive, and genuinely invested in helping us get things done the right way. It doesn’t feel like “ticket support”; it feels like a partner who understands urgency and cares about outcomes. That level of reliability, plus a product that’s actually founder-friendly, is what I like best about Relay. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Relay?

Honestly, there’s very little to dislike. The only real limitation I’ve run into is a recent issue with international payments—at the moment we can’t send them directly through Relay. That said, Relay handled it the right way: they were transparent, took full ownership, clearly explained what happened, and shared what they’re doing to resolve it. In the meantime, setting up a Wise or Revolut account and connecting it to Relay has been extremely simple, so it’s been an easy workaround. Outside of that, everything has been exceptional. What do you like best about Relay?

I really enjoyed the ease of opening and closing accounts with Relay. I love the new feature that allows us to send billing invoices to our clients, which they can pay in a variety of ways. This feature has been incredibly valuable to us as it allowed us to consolidate platforms and bring everything together on one website, making our business operations smoother and easier. What do you dislike about Relay?

Our biggest hang up is the fact that we cannot refund an invoice. If we need to refund somebody money, we have to get their bank account information and send an ACH and not everybody is willing to do that. What do you like best about Relay?

I love that Relay attaches receipts to payments and integrates with Xero so I can categorize expenses when they are fresh in my memory. I really appreciate being able to have up to 20 checking accounts without fees. The automated distributions feature is so nice, and it's very convenient to have one space to categorize my bills sorted by due date. The virtual business cards are also very convenient, and it's great for making bookkeeping efficient and not overwhelming, even for someone not comfortable with accounting. What do you dislike about Relay?

I really need Zelle for making payments. That is the biggest downside so far. Only having the check, wire or ACH options for payments isn't ideal either. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Relay is hands down the best banking platform for business owners. The ability to create multiple checking accounts, seamless integrations with accounting tools, and the real-time cash flow visibility make it a game-changer. What do you dislike about Relay?

Honestly, there is very little to dislike. If anything, — and as a personal wish, it would be amazing if Relay could support Zelle in the future, though that's more of a dream feature than a true complaint! What do you like best about Relay?

I love the ease to create additional accounts. I also enjoy the ease in modifying the percentages of money being transferred into these accounts seamlessly. The invoice creation is super easy and easy for my clients to follow and pay. I can order new cards quickly and banking is just a breeze. It has helped me use the profit first system and it is working! Now I don't worry about payroll or IRS taxes I have accounts ready and set up for those and money waiting for the bill to be paid. What do you dislike about Relay?

Well I'm using the free version so I really can't complain. I do not use the checks. I think 7 to 10 days is too long, but I don't use checks anymore so that does not affect me. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Relay?

It's a technology-forward banking platform that's easy to set up and use for small business owners. It also has a number of useful features to address specific business scenarios. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Relay?

It' is a fintech platform, and research on Reddit makes it clear that there are a number of pitfalls resulting from the fact that Relay is not actually a bank. They're a Fintech platform working with Thread Bank. It's possible that Thread Bank will withhold your funds, and there's nothing that the Relay customer support team can do to make them available to you, with Thread Bank's customer support being entirely unhelpful.

Another current example of the problems one might expect is that Relay has recently changed the way they receive international wires, switching from Currencycloud to Nium, but the transition was handled extremely poorly.

- I had several inbound international wires that were rejected after the issuer had initiated the payment.

- Relay mentioned that approval for international payments through Nium would take no more than 3 business days. It took me 2 weeks to get any sort of help after applying for Nium approval and it has now been over a month during which I've been unable to collect on thousands of dollars of receivables because I can't invoice a client in the UK. Almost 4 weeks into this problem, Relay finally issued a statement saying that they can't promise when international payments will be approved and have disallowed account holders from applying to receive international payments if they hadn't already applied. What do you like best about Relay?

I really like the mobile banking appl that Relay has. I can access my accounts using the app at any time, day or night, which is very convenient. The customer service is another big plus for me. The Relay team is reachable by phone, email, or chat, and they're knowledgeable about their services and processes, onboarding criteria as well as solving any issues or concerns. Additionally, the initial setup was easy, with the online application and document submissions being straightforward. What do you dislike about Relay?

I don't dislike anything about Relay. I do, however, hope that Relay will: 1. Issue business banking customers virtual credit cards for supplier and vendor payments. 2. Add same-day wires and same-day ACH transfers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Relay?

I love the option of having separated accounts, instant transfers between those accounts, and the ability to obtain a debit card that's linked to certain accounts. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Relay?

I recently had an unpleasant experience with Relay; when I gave an invoice link to my client and they paid, the transaction was considered a "Self-Payout," and as such, was cancelled and we were threatened with closing accounts and such. Because of this, my client has had to make the payment again, my payment's been delayed, and this has significantly pushed back our experience with Relay. We've used Stripe for years and never have we had to deal with something like this. Honestly, this experience, if not fixed, will certainly make me switch providers. What do you like best about Relay?

I use Relay for my own banking needs for both my business and non-profit, and I recommend it to my clients because it supports the Profit First system effectively. I find the automatic profit first allocations incredibly useful. It lets me manage my cash flow easily and apply the bank balance accounting method. I love the ease of opening and closing accounts and being able to pay invoices and categorize them to QuickBooks without leaving the application. I also really appreciate my customer service rep.
