Redshift is a fork off of Postgres and the engineers at amazon have made many improvements to scale the capabilities of Redshift to accommodate voluminous data. Redshift also works with AWS S3 to perform parallel inserts into the data warehouse tables. Redshift also allows for table optimization due to the specification of sort and distribution keys when writing the DDL of your tables.
