We chose redpanda as a self hosted Kafka compatible solution for internal app messaging, as a replacement for AWS SQS. What we liked was the ease of implementation within our kubernetes cluster. Not having to use zookeeper or any of the other hassles with a kafka install is great for us. Since it has full parity with kafka features, our developers are able to use off the shelf integrations to connect, which is extremely helpful. Customer Support was great during our initial implementation, and they were fully available to answer our questions and help us through our stumbles quickly.
We've expanded usage of redpanda across our entire engineering organization, it's been easy for us to expand into, and is fast enough that we never have to worry about throughput. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
We've updated redpanda a few times since we've used it, and it's sometimes a struggle to make sure that we're deploying the helm charts correctly -- they tend to change quite a bit. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Redpanda has been a powerful part of our infrastructure, it enables us to have the scalability and reliability that we need while being low touch around administration and maintenance. The Redpanda team has done as excellent job delivering a high quality product, as well as providing excellent support, guidance and continuous product and service improvements. BYOC has provided us the flexibility of running their managed service on our account, which combined with a very efficient Kafka platform, and their tooling and support, means we can focus our time and money on delivering even more value to our customers, while still having the flexibility of an onsite solution. If you're a Confluent or Open Source Kafka user, there will be some differences to adjust to with regards to running it yourself, as the underlying implementation is not the same, but I think overall an improvement for users in terms of management and configuration. Redpanda's team and their product have been nothing but a positive experience for our company. Our Redpanda BYOC cluster is on the frontline keeping mission critical systems up and running reliably. Throughout the entire time we have been running the cluster multiple team members have exclaimed how critical and stress relieving it has been to have Redpanda in our stack. Redpanda has simultaneously kept our systems running while also allowing us to speed up development on downstream systems. Alongside this we have had nothing but a positive experience with the Redpanda team. From the original POC and purchasing process all the way through the support relationship Redpanda has felt like they are another team inside our own company. Occassionally, the console ui has some less than great feature implementations however, the team is always quick to fix any issues. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Redpanda is very easy use, making data management a cinch. Its intuitive interface guides you through tasks effortlessly, whether you're importing, analyzing, or visualizing data. Migration from any other competitor is very straight forward and redpanda team is always there to help you and guide with any requests you may have.
What sets this app apart is its robust functionality. It offers a range of tools for data cleansing, transformation, advanced analytics, and visualization, all in one place.
Security is a top priority with built-in encryption and access controls, ensuring your data stays safe. Plus, the app grows with your needs, making it suitable for businesses of all sizes.
In summary, the RedPanda simplifies data management without compromising on security or functionality. It's a must-have for anyone looking to make sense of their data quickly and easily. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There are a few drawbacks worth mentioning. Firstly, the absence of kSQL functionality limits users who rely on this specific query language for data manipulation. However it is acheivable by hosting your own kSQL cluster.
Additionally, while the app boasts strong security features, there is room for improvement in user management and access control, which could enhance the overall security posture.
Furthermore, while the user interface is generally intuitive, some users may find it occasionally lags, particularly when handling large datasets. While this lag is not a significant issue, it may detract from the overall user experience for some individuals who prefer a more seamless and modern interface. We used Redpanda is the backbone of our event-driven architecture. It was incredibly easy to setup, and super easy to use. We used the basic Kafka APIs in Python/Java/Go and nothing had to change, we just pointed at the Redpanda brokers rather than the Kafka Brokers. The speed was very good and overall it was exactly what we needed. The UI is also pretty decent and let us see what was happening pretty quickly.
The customer support was top-notch as well, and they hopped on our requests as soon as we notified them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
This is more of a kafka beef than anything, but some of our message sizes were larger so we had to use Redpanda to notify our other components to fetch data from an S3 bucket (data-poor), rather than passing the data-rich messages. I tried to shove 80MB into a message and while it "worked" it took a very long time. That was on me though. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I was looking for alternatives to Kafka as we are not a Java shop and are low on headcount and found Redpanda during my search. Data streaming is new to the company so Redpanda spent a lot of time with us coaching and helping us understand the pros and cons of various solutions and communicated with us daily during our trial. In the end, we loved the Bring-Your-Own-Cloud (BYOC) solution where Redpanda manages the health of the cluster but the data stays in our environment. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
So far everything has been great. There are a few products that I was excited to try that work with Kafka, but not Redpanda, but that was because they rely on Kafka's ZooKeeper. A very happy tradeoff for us as much of the benefit of Redpanda is that there is no need for ZooKeeper. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

High Performance: Redpanda is known for its exceptional speed and low latency, making it ideal for real-time data processing applications. In our case, our tail got significantly better compared with the competition.
Ease of Use: Redpanda is simpler to set up and manage than other stream processing solutions. Redpanda Console is a Bonus.
Cloud-Native: Being cloud-native, Redpanda offers scalability and flexibility, allowing for easy deployment in various cloud environments Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Honestly, We haven't come across any major drawbacks with Redpanda so far. It's been very efficient for our event streaming needs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Redpanda has revolutionized our use of Kafka, enhancing everything from deployment simplicity to WASM transformations, and significantly boosting speed! After nearly a decade of Kafka in production and numerous outages, Redpanda has proven to be a remarkable replacement—truly a game changer.
Features like WASM transform are essential for harnessing its full potential and replacing outdated custom software that many of us still use today for that aspect.
The cloud version is the icing on the cake. It eliminates excessive billing and alleviates GDPR concerns for Europe, as everything operates on our cloud, under our security, exactly where we want it. The support has been phenomenal too; despite occasional bugs, the team addresses issues incredibly quickly.
Redpanda has fundamentally changed how we work, resolving many persistent issues we faced with Kafka. It's the dawn of a new era. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Nothing for now really. Maybe the Kafka client that could be replaced at some point by a dedicated protocol. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Red Panda has been our choice when we wanted to migrate our data pipeline to a stream-oriented approach, and since then, we've been very happy with the choice.
The support team is great and guides you through every step during the integration, and being able to deploy it in our cloud infrastructure /BYOC) was also a critical feature for us.
To sum it up: Great product, great support! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The web interface sometimes falls a bit short, and you have to do the more complex stuff via the CLI. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

There are quite a few highlights. Working with the Redpanda team has been a really smooth process, during the sales and onboarding times especially. The team has been quite responsive and the slack channel for questions and tickets has been easy to use. The trial gave us ample time to validate our use case and confirm our estimates for data use.
The other real benefit comes from the pricing. Redpanda has allowed my small team the flexibility with learning as we build out our platform without worrying about going through our entire budget in a week or two, whereas some other data streaming platforms require an ironclad understanding of how much data you're putting into the system. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The biggest downside so far revolves around the maturity of the product. Setting up a local environment still requires some deeper knowledge of data streaming and some other open source tools. Some of the documentation isn't complete, and features that are available in other platforms require a little bit of guesswork and experimentation to figure out. RedPanda is a single binary which makes it much simpler to operate than other Kafka distributions. This allows us to develop and test faster and deploy more frequently.
Their managed clusters have been rock solid, and their support is really helpful.
Switching to RedPanda was very easy for us, as we were already using Kafka. There were zero code changes necessary. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There were a few operational difficulties at the beginning our managed cluster journey. We were on their first versions of managed clusters. The next version came out shortly after we started, which meant we were already faced with a migration.
This was a one time event, and we were early-ish adopters, so I don't anticipate any further disruptions of this sort. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
