Recently, I encountered an issue where a notification kept popping up asking me to activate the license, which was a bit frustrating. Also, the price of Redgate is really high. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I find Redgate Monitor works pretty well in general, and I think the support is decent. The real-time alerting feature is the most useful aspect for me, as it promptly lets me know when issues arise or if there's concerning behavior. However, the alerts frequently lack sufficient detail so I have a query embedded in the notification to run to get the details regarding what triggered the alert Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Portability of custom metrics does not exist. Sometimes there is not enough control over alerts and how they are triggered. The trigger condition/details are not provided in the notification so I have to run additional queries to actually get the desired information. It took several emails with support to get licensing squared. After working with the program team some issues regarding SQL clustering and Always-On were resolved and the product works across all instances I am concerned with Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What I like best about Redgate SQL Monitor is the balance between deep technical visibility and operational simplicity. It provides centralized monitoring across large SQL Server environments while still making it easy to quickly identify performance bottlenecks, blocking, wait statistics, failed jobs, AG health issues, and resource pressure.

The alerting is highly customizable and actionable, which helps reduce noise while still surfacing critical issues before they impact users. I also appreciate the historical performance data and intuitive dashboards, which make trending, capacity planning, and root-cause analysis significantly easier for DBAs supporting enterprise environments.

From a day-to-day operational standpoint, it has become a reliable single pane of glass for proactive SQL Server monitoring across both on-premises and cloud-hosted systems. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

One area where Redgate SQL Monitor could improve is in advanced customization and reporting flexibility for very large enterprise environments. While the built-in dashboards and alerts are strong, there are times when deeper customization or more granular filtering would help tailor monitoring views for different operational teams or business units.

In larger estates, alert tuning can also take some time during the initial implementation phase to ensure the right balance between visibility and noise reduction. Additionally, some of the more advanced analytics and historical reporting capabilities could benefit from expanded visualization and export options for long-term capacity and trend analysis.

That said, these are relatively minor compared to the overall value the platform provides for proactive SQL Server monitoring and operational stability. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Redgate Monitor provides a quick and easy snapshot across all of our database servers of what is happening in real time. It is a nice tool to have when things are slow or not working. UI is friendly and easy to navigate from administration perspective. The tool integrates easily with various database technologies, we have used with Azure SQL, Azure SQL Managed Instance, Azure SQL Virtual Machine and On Premises SQL Server.

From performance perspective, there is low latency in viewing metrics and dashboard. The data fetch is seamless and accurate.

RG is big an was acquired recently, I warry about great product potential quality regression.

First the licensing model is excellent. It is more affordable than many of the competitors. We have begun to test the AI features which are showing some promise in helping evaluate queries and troubleshoot issues. The tools to identify problematic queries has helped us track down queries that have been impacting production activities. Using alerts for some administrative activities has allowed us to keep track of bloat related to excessive use of linkedservers. I like the dashboard for quickly finding problems and addressing them. Updates do not allow for using gMSA accounts to start the needed services. I would like if it could allow that from the GUI update tool. In the top queries tool it would be super helpful to be able to add login name and source host to the display. It takes time to correlate the query in the sql server to find further details on the query. Adding granular permissions for users has been a little clunky for us. I like the dashboard and its tile-style layout. With Redgate Monitor, I especially appreciate being able to keep track of the licenses and versions for each database server as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I don’t like that I can’t kill a running process. I’m also not a fan of the update process. I’ve run into a couple of issues when trying to upgrade Redgate Monitor, and it’s been frustrating. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
