  ### 11. Safe and Secure OS

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Parth G. | Lead I Cloud engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 24, 2023

**What do you like best about Red Hat Enterprise Linux?**

One of the leading Enterprise systems for Linux, it provides stability, scalability and automation. It's not only limited to on-prem but is also cloud-native, meaning it can be deployed on any cloud VM. It provides a secure way of running the apps. We have been running thousands of kubernetes pods on this without any disruption.

**What do you dislike about Red Hat Enterprise Linux?**

RHEL is an enterprise edition of Linux. So it might not be adaptable for some small industries looking for an open-source solution. Apart from this I do not see any other downside.

**What problems is Red Hat Enterprise Linux solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were looking for a safe and secure way to build our Kubernetes platform, whether on-prem or cloud. Considering the vulnerabilities threat, we do not want to use some open source OS. RHEL came to our rescue, and we have been using it as our underlying OS for managing our nodes. At the same time, we were also looking for secure container images and ended up using the RHEL-backed container images.

  ### 12. RHEL: Robust, Secure and Reliable

As new version of RHEL came in market such as RHEL 8 and RHEL9 , So it is little difficult for us to update our older version of RHEL servers such as RHEL 6 and RHEL 7. In this case they should provide a simple way to update our OS.

It provides a stable environment for our businesses. It is solving issue of security and help us to manage applications in a very easy way. It help us to make our infrastructure more secure and scalable.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Junaid A. | Network Security Engineer, Computer & Network Security, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 20, 2023

**What do you like best about Red Hat Enterprise Linux?**

From a primary web server to a structured Cluster solution, incorporating OracleRAC and VCS, all of our Linux solutions are built on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL). Using Docker and OpenShift, we are beginning to use containers. We are in the process of switching from HP-UX to RHEL for our outdated Access Gateway solution. Red Hat is a solid alliance, in my opinion. Any software or content we provide through the program is free of further fees.
WebService, TACACS+ solution, and VCS cluster.

**What do you dislike about Red Hat Enterprise Linux?**

Allow internal patch repositories to synchronize. Avaya solution, JVM, and OracleRAC.
Now for the improvement, OracleRAC under RHEL works excellently. However, I'm unsure if Oracle employs this strategy to market its Linux distribution, as some OracleRAC modules occasionally experience issues while running under RHEL.

**What problems is Red Hat Enterprise Linux solving and how is that benefiting you?**

TCS Ecuador uses Red Hat Enterprise Linux on our client's servers for transactional applications. Since the updates are performed twice a year periodically, and there is a maintenance contract, we have not yet posed any business issues.
No additional fees are associated with the software or material we provide through the program.
This deactivates no functions that require a paid subscription.
Simple deployment.

  ### 27. Red Hat Enterprise Linux review

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ibrahim M. | NetDevOps Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 20, 2023

**What do you like best about Red Hat Enterprise Linux?**

One of the key strengths of RHEL is its stability and security. RHEL is known for its robustness and reliability, which make it a popular choice for enterprise-level applications that require high levels of uptime and security. It also comes with built-in security features such as SELinux, which can help prevent unauthorized access to data and system resources.

Another advantage of RHEL is its support and ecosystem. RHEL is backed by a large community of developers and contributors, as well as by Red Hat, which provides enterprise-level support and services. This can be especially important for businesses that rely on RHEL for critical applications and need to ensure that any issues are quickly resolved.

**What do you dislike about Red Hat Enterprise Linux?**

RHEL is a commercial product, which means that it may not be the most cost-effective option for some organizations or individuals who are looking for a free or open-source operating system.

**What problems is Red Hat Enterprise Linux solving and how is that benefiting you?**

**Reviewed by:** Edward K. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 24, 2023

**What do you like best about Red Hat Enterprise Linux?**

It is widely used and if you have enough budget to pay for support and training, it is a very solid operating system for the enterprise.
Compared to other widely used versions such as Ubuntu and Suse etc etc, red hat is probably the leader in support, even though they need to staff support more and be more responsive.

**What do you dislike about Red Hat Enterprise Linux?**

I dislike the product lifecycle and microsoft busniess model it has adopted, forcing upgrades for the sake of upgrades, changing the UI, syntax and command names - have to relearn things that you normally do everyday.

Creating a leading linux distro for the enterprise in order to support both infrastructure and production needs.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Devesh G. | Student Training and Placement Coordinator, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 16, 2023

**What do you like best about Red Hat Enterprise Linux?**

Red Hat Enterprise Linux is a very robust, safe, and dependable operating system. It is by default built to be secure, and its features may be simply altered to suit the requirements of practically any organization. Also, its strong and well-documented package management system makes installing and updating software simple. Red Hat Enterprise Linux is a great option for businesses of all sizes since it supports a wide range of hardware and virtualization technologies. Finally, Red Hat Enterprise Linux is a great platform for web hosting and development because it supports open-source technologies like Apache, PHP, and MySQL.

**What do you dislike about Red Hat Enterprise Linux?**

Red Hat Enterprise Linux doesn't particularly bother me, but I do believe that it has a few shortcomings. The first is that, despite some users preferring to use it, it is more expensive than other Linux operating systems. It can also be more challenging to customize and configure than other operating systems, and it is less user-friendly for Linux beginners. Finally, novice users may find it difficult to use some of the more sophisticated features and functions.

**What problems is Red Hat Enterprise Linux solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Web servers must be protected. Although the typical Linux Desktop environment is largely safe, the same level of protection is typically insufficient for web servers that hold vital data for businesses and services. When compared to a typical, everyday Ubuntu server, software like RHEL makes the process of safeguarding a server simpler. Our business relies on Red Hat Enterprise Linux for 90% of its servers since it is a robust, dependable OS. In our data centers and other large environments, we use RHEL Standard for standalone servers and RHEL for Datacenters with limitless VM support. We are able to manage our infrastructure more efficiently thanks to it, and with just two sysadmins, we can maintain our 700+ servers and virtual machines.

**What do you like best about Red Hat Enterprise Linux?**

RHEL is a robust and reliable Linux distribution that is widely used in enterprise environments. It's known for its stability, security and support for enterprise-level features. The built-in features like SELinux and AppArmor provide an added layer of security. Red Hat offers a range of support options, including 24/7 support, which is a big plus for businesses that rely on their systems to be up and running all the time. The downside is that it's a commercial product, so it may be more expensive than other Linux distributions. Overall, it's a great choice for organizations that need a stable, secure and enterprise-ready Linux distribution.

**What do you dislike about Red Hat Enterprise Linux?**

RHEL, being a commercial product, can be more costly than other Linux distributions. It may also have limited flexibility and customization options. Additionally, the package availability is limited as it uses its own package manager. Some users may find it not suitable for high-performance computing or large-scale deployment. Also, depending on Red Hat for support and updates may lead to vendor lock-in. However, it's a great choice for organizations that need a stable, secure and enterprise-ready Linux distribution.

**What problems is Red Hat Enterprise Linux solving and how is that benefiting you?**

RHEL is known for its stability and reliability, making it a great choice for organizations running mission-critical applications and services. **Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gaurav K. | Senior software engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 04, 2022

**What do you like best about Red Hat Enterprise Linux?**

With RHEl, we gets security that our servers are safe. We can so many rules and can start the logging to see which user is doing what. Commands are easily available on the google if someone is struggling. We can use vi editor with a combination of sed,awk and grep and can do many things in seconds. And same things if we have to do on windows server, it will have a limits and even MS Excel can not take more than 1 million rows. SO we can do sort or grep any column if we have to play with data.

**What do you dislike about Red Hat Enterprise Linux?**

As of now i am just loving Red Hat Enterprise Linux. It is no where comparable to Microsoft Windows server. Easy to manage and easy to use.

**What problems is Red Hat Enterprise Linux solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Earlier we were using Microsoft Windows server to play with data, but it has Microsoft Excel which is having limitation of 10 lacs rows and if we put somelikd of rules, system will go onto hung state for hours while filers were in process. So we switched to Red Hat Enterprise Linux and learned vi editor and life becomes so easy, we can sort, grep data in seconds and we are much more productive with Red Hat Enterprise Linux. I am just loving this OS.

  ### 49. Ready for scaling right out of the box

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

It generally has all other packages I need available in it's repositories and if not since it is so widely used you can find support for just about everything you could need.

**What do you dislike about Red Hat Enterprise Linux?**

Regarding virtualization built in it just doesn't compare to VMware or Hyper-V. It is functional but not as customizable.

**What problems is Red Hat Enterprise Linux solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is very easy to manage multiple servers from a single location rather than needing physical access to each server we deploy.

  ### 50. The best and most respected Linux distribution for business

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gregory D. | Cybersecurity, Compliance and Data Protection Officer, Electrical/Electronic Manufacturing, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 09, 2022

**What do you like best about Red Hat Enterprise Linux?**

I've been using Red Hat since RH 6.0 in 1999 and RHEL since it was introduced in 2003. It is the only software product I've been using throughout my career without feeling the need to replace it, which is proof of Red Hat's long-term commitment to quality and reliability. The best part about RHEL is the long release cycles and extended maintenance and support for major versions.

**What do you dislike about Red Hat Enterprise Linux?**

The only downside to RHEL is the price. With the introduction of RHEL in 2003, Red Hat went to free to a rather expensive subscription model! I suppose they were pioneers of this model because now the SaaS/subscription model is commonplace amongst all software vendors. Ultimately, if you're a business, you need stability, security and reliability, and that's what you pay for.

**What problems is Red Hat Enterprise Linux solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Red Hat Enterprise Linux is a solid, reliable OS that my company relies on for 90% of its servers. We use RHEL Standard for standalone servers and RHEL for Datacenters with unlimited VM support in our datacentres and other large environments. It allows us to streamline the management of our infrastructure and makes it possible to keep our 700+ servers and VMs running and up to date with only two sysadmins.
