The machine learning backed smart retries have transformed my workflow by replacing manual payment reconciliation with an automated recovery process that saves me several hours of administrative work each week. I regularly use the revenue recognition reports and the robust API integration to bridge the gap between our billing data and accounting standards which ensures our financial visualizations remain accurate across all platforms without manual spreadsheet manipulation. An unexpected benefit has been the granular coupon and credit management system which allows our team to issue prorated adjustments instantly within the UI and prevents data discrepancies in our reporting without needing developer support.

**What do you dislike about Recurly?**

The reporting suite and analytics dashboard can feel rigid when trying to perform deep-dive segmentation beyond standard subscription metrics. As an analyst, I often need to slice data by custom variables unique to our fintech model, but the limited flexibility in the built-in reporting UI forces me to export raw data into external tools for more granular visualization. Expanding the custom report builder to allow for more complex multi-object filtering would eliminate this additional step and keep more of our data lifecycle management directly within the platform.

It's showing recovered payments, and as previously mentioned, lots of great reports are available that break down billing information.

I really love the simplicity of navigating the platform, the ease of use (both on the internal side of things and the customer experience), and finally the support team.

**What do you dislike about Recurly?**

Some of the metrics within the platform are a bit confusing. Additionally, there is room for growth when it comes to reporting. if they leveled up the reporting capabilities (both in terms of a dashboard and report exports), the platform would be a 10/10!

**What problems is Recurly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Recurly manages our paid membership program. It easily allows users to add membership to a cart, like a normal SKU, and then access a dashboard where they are able to manage their own account. On the back end, it also facilitates the $ off and free shipping perks of membership. Both of these aspects we were unable to do within a platform and needed to be done manually

We use this every day to be efficient with our work as it's the main platform that we use. Recurly's interface was easy to use and easy to understand. The integration with our CRM is seamless, which makes the information easy to understand. Taking actions in Recurly is easy to implement by just clicking the buttons that is straightforward on its use. Also, Recurly's customer support is superb and available whenever we need them.

If there are timeouts that affect the customer, that will take a while to be resolved.

Recurly gives us the tool to manage the subscriptions of our customers and its interface is easy to understand that helps us efficiently assists our clients.

some restrictions to editing subscriptions. one major issue is the gateway communication, voided transaction processes and we have to request a refund from our gateway. Also, when there is a chargeback, Recurly doesn't know and invoice stays paid when the invoice should fail and transaction decline. We have to request this action separately and sometimes it takes Recurly months to adjust.

Recurly's easy user interface makes navigating the platform straightforward, allowing me to perform most changes on my own without needing additional support. I find the acquisition flow reporting with Recurly problematic. Additionally, the $0 authorizations do not function as expected, which can be frustrating. When encountering a peculiar bug or issue, resolving it tends to be challenging, possibly due to insufficient support or complicated processes.

**Recommendations to others considering Recurly:**

Although they don't offer quite as many integrations as other subscription services, they are affordable and do offer valuable analytics.  Their customer support team is also more helpful than others we have used in the past.

I find Recurly efficiently charges customers on their billing dates, reduces churn with 1-click payment updates, and offers an easy interface for self-managed changes.

The Recurly team eventually worked with us to resolve a major misunderstanding around transaction overages, granting us a waiver until the end of the current contract. This showed flexibility and a willingness to repair the relationship. Since then, communication has become clearer, and we now have more confidence in how terms are documented.

**What do you dislike about Recurly?**

Commercial transparency still needs to improve. Key costs and thresholds should be highlighted clearly in proposals and discussions upfront, not left to fine print in contracts. While our situation was eventually addressed, the process was longer and more difficult than it should have been. Better upfront clarity and proactive communication would help rebuild trust further.

Recurly helps us manage recurring billing for a multi-SKU SaaS business. It automates subscription lifecycles, integrates with our payment stack, and handles failed payment retries and card updates, which helps improve revenue retention. Their customer support is unmatched. When we faced a major gateway issue, Recurly jumped in immediately and helped us migrate, even though it was not their responsibility. The team was hands-on, responsive, and genuinely cared about solving our problem. It felt like we had a partner, not just a vendor.

The interface feels a bit dated in some areas, and reporting could be more flexible out of the box like exporting detail New vs Recurring. But the platform is reliable, and their team more than makes up for it with excellent support. and I have to say continue to make improvements.

Recurly manages all of our recurring billing and subscription logic, which lets us focus on growing our business instead of chasing down payments or fixing billing issues. The lack of customer-facing personalization regarding their own account to view their subscriptions. It would be great to be able to edit the theme with code.

**What do you like best about Recurly?**

The API is pretty easy to use, but the customer support is why I stick around.  You can't run a saas without hitting a few bumps.  They always are willing to figure out what happened, and help you make it right with the customer.  Even if it was just you were being dumb.  It's easy to get started, and you can start with their hosted pages doing the heavy lifting, then as you grow as a company, you can start "taking over" pages to make the process more seemless for your clients.  Their analytics is also good, if you do traditional saas.

**What do you dislike about Recurly?**

The API docs are.. goofy sometimes.  Othertimes it's downright incorrect.  Lastly, the way they handle ids (subscription ids, customer ids) is different depending on the context.  The ID you get in the api isn't the same you see if you visit the customer's page on their website.  The webhooks are great, but because the ID's are rough, sometimes you are left guessing as how to match stuff up.  Also while their analytics is great, analytics for pay per usage is seriously lacking.

The biggest problem they solve is: subscription management and easy dunning management (emails when customer payment fails).

And having all the data you need at your disposal always makes it simple and efficient. I am using it for 12 hours per day every day. And I can offer support in real time, both to our customers, both to our company internal needs. It is perfectly integrated into our system, linked to other CMS.

There are some restrictions but imposed by the need to be in compliance with transaction duties, so the fact that you cannot edit something, like an already produced invoice, or an existing coupon, without having to rely to some workaround, is something that you can live with.

- The systems sends reminders to the customers (2-3 weeks in advance) who are on Annual or Monthly Subscription for renewals.
- There are multiple payment gateways that can be integrated for global clients
- Support team quicky reponds to the queries if we face any problem

**What do you dislike about Recurly?**

- Customers sometime complain that they have limited visibility, which can be improved
- To operate it, one requires a bit of technical knowledge. This leads to dependency on technical person

**What problems is Recurly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Recurly has smoothen the process of our subscription based business, with this tool we do need to send reminders or offers manually. This tool automates the entire process and make it easy for our sales team as well as for our customers. With multiple payment options it becomes very easy to engage with our global customer base.

Recurly has potential to be a solid tools for online subscription businesses but it fails to deliver on many aspects.

**What do you dislike about Recurly?**

The analytics part is truly pathetic and Recurly does not invest even a cent in developting this important part of billing tool. You can't get even the simplest data points out of their useless analytics. Also, many times the data is completely wrong. Customer support will ignore you for months on this topic.

**What do you like best about Recurly?**

Customer and billing information is easy to search through and locate. The steps to process refunds or provide invoices to customers are available in only a couple clicks. Allows us to support our customers quickly and efficiently!

Has trouble integrating with our CMS at times. We have to work them like they are 2 different systems.

**What problems is Recurly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Recurly creates invoices and then processes billing for our user's subscriptions on their renewal dates. When a sub is cancelled, Recurly stops the billing process. Recruly also communicates with our CMS (in most cases) when payment has not been collected and stops the sub access automatically. Recurly also continues to try to recover past due payments.

**What do you like best about Recurly?**

It is very easy to navigate! It allows me to track and see all of our customers' transactions quickly and easily! I always open this tool whenever I need to search for the customer's unexplained charges to their accounts since I can truly depend on it.

**What do you dislike about Recurly?**

It keeps logging me out after a few minutes from leaving it, but other than that, there's nothing I can think of as everything is OK as is.

**What problems is Recurly solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps me in locating, and managing charges on our customers' accounts, as well as determining why their cards are declined. It makes my job easier as I can always confidently answer all of our member's inquiries about their subscriptions. Manually billing and refunding our customers are also easy using this tool, it calculates taxes automatically in each state where our customers live.
