Top Rated Rebelle Alternatives
While this is a demanding piece of software, it gives every bit as good as it gets. Its simulation of realistic painting has fooled people on the regular into thinking that I am painting with real oils on an actual canvas, and the best part? It's really, really fun.
There's also the nanopixel export, which lets you paint at one size, and export to a larger size without degradation. I love it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Using the pencil tools can be a little frustrating at times because the lines they leave behind can be somewhat "choppy" if you're drawing quickly; it has a time keeping up. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I'm using this software almost every day. The oil and watercolor simulation left me speechless from the moment I began the trial version. I come from a traditional paint background. In the past, I've used Adobe Suite, Affinity Universe, and Clip Studio Paint. Although they're all great, NONE of them --at least for me--can compare to Rebelle in the sense of realistic paint texture, movement, and blending styles. I love, love, love this discovery...just when I thought my art couldn't get any more real.
I have to add that the pigment and nanopixel features in Pro 7 are phenomenal. Another thing I really appreciate is the workspace. It's not as "loaded" as other art software which works for me because I don't need advanced photo effects nor preferences to get my work the way I want it, so it's very easy to handle the layout. Thankfully, I haven't necessarily had any problems with Rebelle, and no need for customer support yet. Checking out and paying for the software was the only challenging part, but I went to the community's forum and found what I needed to fix this. I had to do nothing but restart Rebelle afterward. After testing Rebelle 7 for a few weeks, I can see that its designed from the ground up as a tool for artists, not photographers. I'm a traditional painter in oil, acrylic, gouache and watercolor and I'm very impressed with all of these tools. The oil brushes in particular are amazing, with a very convincing look and feel, comparable to the real thing. Even a very simple round brush is a delight to paint with. Highly recommended to any digital artist who wants to draw and paint any subject matter in any medium. Rebelle has all the features that I've been wanting in Photoshop like screen recording, brush favorites, built in canvas textures with realistic paint interactivity, and an excellent oil brush mixing system - much easier to use and more convincing than Photoshop's equivalent. I'd like to see a way to open multiple documents at once. Also, it would be great to make the brush size larger than the current limit. This is configured as a percentage, not a pixel size, so I don't know if this is an absolute or relative value in relation to the document size. It would also be nice to have a few more keyboard shortcuts similar to Photoshop, but perhaps I can change those in the preferences.
Keep up the great work, and there are still many features yet to explore. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Rebelle is the closest to a real media paint experience I've used yet-- specifically with the way you use your brush to pick up colors like real paint. It lets you pick up a dabs of color from anywhere on the canvas, raise your brush, and have it loaded with that color for your next brushstroke. I like that I can have dual-tone dabs and dirty brushes. And let's not forget the metallic paint, which is what lured me in this time to really sink my teeth into Rebelle 7 Pro and make serious progress despite bouncing off Rebelle 5 years ago. It doesn't completely replace Painter for me, but it doesn't need to-- although there is overlap, both programs really shine at different things. And did I mention those metallics? I'll be using digital gold leaf on everything for the next month. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It guzzles RAM like a hobbit discovering pints, and the learning curve is the hardest I've encountered since playing Dwarf Fortress in ASCII. Yes, it's wonderful software, but that complexity and nuance is also what will slow you down at first. Be prepared to spend some real time getting to know and understand how to use it well, because your expectations from other software will probably work against you. I´m a traditional painter, never been good with computer programs, but Rebelle is so easy and addictive, learning the program just by exploring and playing has been wonderful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I don´t know if there is already tutorials for it, I still have a lot to discover, but, for me it would be wonderful if there are video tutorials on how to export the pieces ready for instagram and other platforms. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I'm finally getting used to this software. It's simple enough to get started using it, but it's power is in the different paint settings and water dynamics. You can actually move paint around on the canvas by adding water and using the page tilt control! It's great for making abstract art digitally in a way that wasn't possible before. The realistic look of all the art tools is really impressive! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Depending on the user, it may be time consuming to learn like complex brush settings and how to work with the water dynamics. Also, there is a liquify setting in the smudge tool which seems rather slow and it doesn't look as natural as I'd like. This software could actually be the answer to digital liquid acylic paint pouring and other fluid art techniques but it's not quite there yet. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The ability to create hand-painted is excellent! I was mesmerized by the way Rebelle imitates the experience of painting and gives us results identical to those done by hand. And now, with metallic paintings, the possibilities have been expanded. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Still haven't found anything I have disliked. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I love the diversity of tools and their customizations. It's the most fun digital painting a person can have. Nothing about it is a waste. You'll spend more money and have less fun trying to have the same experience with Adobe or similar products. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
A bit of a learning curve at first. It simply works different from the "industry standards", which poses the challenge of learning a unique software. That said, it doesn't take long to start figuring things out, plus there are good guides online. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Wanted a software that does oil paints and also water colours really really well, along with realistic pigment mixing. But add to that nanopixel tech and it makes Rebelle standout. I tried several apps for digital painting before deciding to choose Rebelle. They all have their pros and cons but none comes close to Rebelle for what its designed to do. Perhaps some more performance improvements wouldn't hurt at all. At present Rebelle does require a fairly powerful processor for some of its features. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Everything. The user-friendliness, the thoughtful menu organization, the way it emulates paint, the metallic paints... It is just fun and easy to use and get great results with. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Sometimes the snapping of the different tool menus can be a little bit fussy and buggy, but it is so minor that I can easily overlook it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I think the paper and micro texture tech used in Rebelle is unmatched. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's harder to find custom burses from other users/suppliers. But truth be told, sometimes you don't need 5000 different brushes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
