I have dealt with a lot of vendors in my past 13 years but nothing like QIE; everything is so stable, their team is very knowledgeable, and their response rate is out of this world. **What do you dislike about Qvera Interface Engine (QIE)?** So far nothing, Qvera team has been amazing. **What problems is Qvera Interface Engine (QIE) solving and how is that benefiting you?** The transaction and connection between the registration system and our software so QIE is what connect this. ### 2. The install of QIE software is quick and easy for a not so techncial person like myself 2. The look/feel of the GUI is very intuitive - at a glance you can tell what interfaces are running, start/stop the interface, 3. QIE offers "inactivity alerts'" that trigger email alerts based on customizable time frames and days of the week. These alerts can be different for each interface 4. When building an interface, the "flowchart" visual of the interface build is wonderful! 5.I use the Global/System Variable often - specifically the tables. I can write logic that points to the values in the table like a list. So when a new value is added, I can simply add the entry to the table without having to change the interface logic. 6.The export/import feature makes it simple to copy interfaces from the TEST environment to the Production environment! Even has the option to NOT overwrite the endpoints. 7. QIE supports all the interfaces we have needed to build - interfaces with HL7 transacitons and EDI data. And we have a webservice interface in Qvera as well. 8. This should be #1 - Qvera technical support is AMAZING! On occassions where I needed assistance with getting the desired outcome with programming, the tech support staff was quick to respond and so knowledgable! **What do you dislike about Qvera Interface Engine (QIE)?** To date, I haven't found anything that I dislike about Qvera. And we have been using QIE for 2 years now. **What problems is Qvera Interface Engine (QIE) solving and how is that benefiting you?** My company develops softare for hospitals/long term care facilities. QIE has made the development of our interfaces with our clients much easier and therefore faster builds. When the client has a request for change to their interface, the work effort time to make such changes is less too. Installing QIE on our client's with their own servers is quick and easy too. QIE is an extemely reliable interface engine. All these things make for a better implemantion process for our client - plus an after go-live reliable interface. ### 3. Other tools on the market tend to lean heavily either towards low/no-code or full code. I picked Qvera because it had the ease of use for HL7 analysts combined with ability to code completely custom integrations for software developers. As great as the tool is though, the absolute best part of the product is the support I receive. The team that answers the phone (amost always live answer) is fully capable of building interfaces, writing code, etc. I have never had such a good support experience with other companies. I have built some very non-standard, complex interfaces in the 10 years I have been using their product. I have run into challenges on niche integrations (ex: Hybrid DICOM, HL7/API) where support will actually pull in the software developer that wrote that part of the program to help troubleshoot or provide advice. I am not talking about weeks later either, it is usually within 30m of calling. **What do you dislike about Qvera Interface Engine (QIE)?** The main frustration would be related to their use of RHINO for JavaScript code within Java. Because you can write code using both languages in the same code section, it is often difficult to troubleshoot issues related to conversion between the two languages. **What problems is Qvera Interface Engine (QIE) solving and how is that benefiting you?** We use Qvera to integrate all internal HL7 interfaces. Additionally we have several interfaces using DICOM and API resources. We process tens of millons of messages every month through the engine. ### 4. I've been in healthcare IT and Informatics for nearly 10 years and QVERA is hands down my favorite product and vendor to work with. The product is lightweight yet incredibly powerful, it can do anything we've ever asked of it and much more. It has a customizable user interface. The customizations that can be applied to each HL7 interface are extremely in depth and supports scripting so really only your imagination is the limit. It is very intuitive in it's design and user experience and has easy to use logging capabilities. It's notification capabilities to alert you to issues are also fantastic. Their support is stellar, response time usually less than an hour and their solutions get it fixed the first time every time. The system itself is also incredibly stable, in the several years we've used the product we have had 0 crashes and 0 bugs encountered. All of this and more at a fantastic price. **What do you dislike about Qvera Interface Engine (QIE)?** Honestly it's really hard to think of anything that I would put in the cons column. 1. Does the product do what it supposed to do? Yes, provides HL7 interfaces that are customizable and robust. 2. Is the product secure with auditing capabilities? Yes. Very detailed auditing and with all of the most common security features. 3. Does the product fail when you least expect it? No, it's never failed on us. 4. Is the support timely and helpful? Yes, very quick and knowledgeable regarding the product and supporting technologies. 5. Does the product provide notification capabilities? Yes, with many different ways to tweak the criteria for a notification and the frequency. **What problems is Qvera Interface Engine (QIE) solving and how is that benefiting you?** QVERA solves the problem we had with needing a robust and reliable method to establish HL7 data streams into and out of our EMR to many different locations. QVERA does so in a way that dramatically reduces the time we spend troubleshooting HL7 interfaces and has such good logging and auditing capabilities that we regularly use it to troubleshoot the upstream or downstream system rather than those systems own logging capabilities. ### 5. It's fairly simple to build interfaces the business asks for. By utilizing the QIE, we can better manage our imports and exports, we can also handle even the most intricate details of transformations and translations all in one centralized user interface. ### 7. Connecting with external vendors has never been an issue. Installing Qvera is simple and straightforward. I use the Qvera interface where ever I can fit it in with our workflows. Qvera's customer support has been one of the best interactions I've had with any company I've worked with. Their knowledable team and KB is extensive and usually can solve any problems the same day. They are very responsive to any tickets that I've put in. **What do you dislike about Qvera Interface Engine (QIE)?** Using QIE over Mirth does incur a cost. But I do feel the support and the functionality outweigh any benefits of using Mirth over QIE. **What problems is Qvera Interface Engine (QIE) solving and how is that benefiting you?** We're using to QIE to create interoperability between healthcare facilities. Being able to easily share documents has been a game changer for our practice. QIE also helps us with our PACs and auto importing reports such as MRI Reports into our EMR. ### 8. Also like the diversity of options for interfaces and database connections and ease of use. **What do you dislike about Qvera Interface Engine (QIE)?** there isnt' anything I can think of that I dislike about QIE. **What problems is Qvera Interface Engine (QIE) solving and how is that benefiting you?** Real-time patient demographic and scheduling information coming in from our EHR through QIE is sent to several different HL7 interfaces for ancillary applications, as well as a DICOM worklist and several SQL database connections. We store all of the incoming HL7 data in a database that provides real-time information to our intranet, where we've built applications to track patient sign-ins and encounter status in real-time, as well as a number of report-based applications that utilize the data. ### 9. It seems like it is so fast to implement and integrates with everything we want it to. We are converting all of our mirth interfaces to take care of error resolution and it has helped tremendiously on a daily basis. Customer Support is amazing. They are fast, friendly, knowledgeable and work so great as a team. When you first get started you have a blank slate. It takes a bit to get used to setting up channels but once you learn the tricks, you can copy channels to make new ones from the ones already made. Qvera uses Javascript as it's scripting language. This provides flexibility and leverages a popular and easy to learn language. **What do you dislike about Qvera Interface Engine (QIE)?** Until version 4, Qvera did not support an API that allowed for fully automated management. This has since been fixed. I'm amazed how quick it is and easy to reference within the interfaces. The code GUI is also very effective for organizing the programming, makes it easy to develop and troubleshoot. The customer service is amazing too. **What do you dislike about Qvera Interface Engine (QIE)?** If I'm trying hard to dig up things I don't like, I would mention that I've been spoiled in other IDE's by having the ability to debug code line by line have the ability to watch variables in a separate window. I can work around this by entering individual debug commands, however. As a programmer, I prefer stricter type safety as well. The JavaScript scripting allows you to stuff whatever data types you want to into a variable and I would rather be forced to explicitly instantiate variables of the correct type. **Recommendations to others considering Qvera Interface Engine (QIE):** I'm not certain about the cost (I don't pay the bills), but if I heard correctly it was very reasonable for the kind of robust system it is. I would be very surprised to hear anyone complain about it, as it fantastic software with very responsive support. I haven't had to wait more than a few hours on any issue and I've seen my own suggestions implemented within the software within a few months. The builtin Javascript libraries. The ease of adding transformations. The ease of database read and writes for HL7 messages. Converting Excel to .csv and then using it is a work-around. However, this adds another step in the process. **Recommendations to others considering Qvera Interface Engine (QIE):** Conditionals are quick. The Javascript editor is real nice. Step through testing makes debugging easy. It can be used very quickly by people without programming experience using the GUI and various predefined tools and if you have Javascript knowledge can be taken to the next level. **What do you dislike about Qvera Interface Engine (QIE)?** Typically when there is something that I am not happy with, the customer support quickly helps figure out what the issue is and if there is an issue puts in an enhancement request which gets implemented quickly. **Recommendations to others considering Qvera Interface Engine (QIE):** QIE is a very flexible and powerful product which can be up and running quickly. QIE support has a wide Knowledgebase and the staff is very knowledgeable and can help solve the most difficult interface workflows. **What problems is Qvera Interface Engine (QIE) solving and how is that benefiting you?** We use Qvera to make all the Clinical systems play nice together. We have flows for CCD exchange and reconciliation into the EMR to sending orders and receiving results from various outside labs.
