Bold Overview

What is Bold?

Bold is the CMS that understands your content. Unlike a traditional CMS, Bold separates the presentation of the content from the content itself. This makes it effortless to create, curate and distribute content for modern consumption across different screens and screen-less voice devices. With a content workflow that is modelled after an effective newsroom, Bold makes it easy for authors to tell stories better with built-in support for reusable content cards, story elements and story types. All content added on Bold is optimized for distribution across channels such as SEO, Social and Mobile. Third-party integrations include Apple News, Google News, Facebook Instant Articles, AMP, PWA, Push notifications, email marketing, RSS feeds and others. As a hosted SaaS CMS, Bold manages server management, performance, security and upgrades for its clients so that digital publishers can focus on creating great content for their audience. Bold offers developers well-documented APIs, starter kits and design consulting services to jumpstart their own front-end development. Bold offers free onboarding, migration services, 24/7 chat/email support, auto-scaling infrastructure, 95.95% uptime guarantee and regular backups. Pricing for bold begins at $99/mo.

What do you like best about Bold?

The platform is intuitive; it allows efficient and straightforward writing to tell the story you want. It can be implemented without any problem with different distribution channels, social networks, and SEO; it can also be integrated with google, apple, Facebook, mail marketing and more! What do you dislike about Bold?

Having so many tools to use, it can become a bit complicated to master everything; however, using the platform, you get used to it and adapt to the use. After trying Bolt, you can't live without it anymore. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Bold solving and how is that benefiting you?

I had many drawbacks with other writing platforms; as an editorial assistant in a digital magazine, Bolt helped us improve our writing and editing times, keep track of information, and above all, have access anywhere and at any time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Bold?

I love having the ability to create new posts quickly, and the smooth CMS with quick site speed has really made our website much easier and less annoying to use than we had with our WordPress site filled with plugins. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Bold?

The biggest two downsides are the inability to have a pop-up on our website so we can collect email addresses. This is one major way news organizations build loyal audiences, which directly correlates to generating revenue. We'd love for more options like pop-ups to collect donations or email subscribes. The other major downside is that we have needed to hand-code our static pages as the Pagebuilder only works on certain aspects of the website. We have potentially found a workaround for this though. Lastly, it takes the site several minutes to load any static page updates. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Bold solving and how is that benefiting you?

We were getting tons of really intrusive spam on our WordPress site, and we have not had a single issue with spam on our Quintype site at all! It was a nightmare waking up to obscene language suddenly appearing on our previous site, and it has been wonderful not having to worry about our readers seeing spam! Also like I said previously, this CMS is simple, easy to use and makes our site so much faster. The layout is also wonderful and makes us have a very neat, professional look.
