That it keeps everything in place as text boxes and graphics. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Alignment of items is sometimes skewed. Text wraps get applied to everything sometimes. But in the end I have a fully functional InDesign document so it's all good. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
ease and simplicity. I can open Quark files in Indesign with all the formatting and style sheets intact simply by clicking on open doc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
That it's gone to a subscription service rather than a purchased app. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It does a pretty amazing job of translating old legacy files left over from the digital "dark ages" when the beast known as Quark lumbered about making life generally weird for people doing layout work. I'm sure the new Quark is fine, but we use Indesign for this sort of work. Now you can pop that publication open and groove with Indesign seamlessly, in most instances. I have noticed the occasional juxtaposition of items in the layout. Every now and then there will be a different ordering of layers. For instance, sometimes an object in the background will come all the way to the front, but this is usually easily remedied by sending it to the back again. I do wish there was a batch processing function that works similarly to how Photoshop can take a designated group of files and export a batch of one type of file to another type. It only takes seconds to convert a Quark doc. It almost makes you wonder if it is really working. But, it truly is! The price is outstanding, as well as Markzware's customer support and technical team. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Sometimes it can't translate EXACTLY how my Quark doc flowed, due to preferences I had created originally. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I am astounded at the ease and accuracy of Markzware's QXP to ID and how every detail stays virtually identical to the original document. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I would change nothing about this product and haven't had a single problem converting files. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Easily converts my client's Quark jobs (she's using v. 8, I believe) to ID so that I can do the prepress work on her layouts. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Fonts don't always come through correctly if they are not already opened. Oftentimes, I can reopen the file and it comes out correctly but there have been a few times when it took more than a couple of tries. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The conversion worked very well and the process is fast and easy, done from within InDesign. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Of course the conversion isn't perfect and there is always some cleanup that needs to happen. Primarily I found cleanup needed on rule weights in tables, and some issues with drop shadows but on the whole the conversion was very good. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Minimal time reworking Quark files when opened in InDesign. Saves having to completely rebuild from scratch. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Nothing really. It did what I needed, which WAS to import some old Quark files from a new client to InDesign for continuing use, Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Easy to use! Files convert to ID with all major aspects--like doc size, style sheets, colors, fonts, and graphic elements--intact! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Not perfectly seamless, yet: minor quirks like curved text lines that are invisible in Quark translate to white strokes in InDesign, for instance. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
