What do you like best about Proxmox VE?

The features I like best right now are:

ZFS usability - Storage flexibility options

Clustering - one to as many servers as you need for your scalable infrastructure

Using hardware passthrough

Light weight OS

Flexibility, install on old and new hardware!

In the few years I used this software I never had a kernel panic. This software just simply works and is a great platform to get in on as a beginner as they have a community / free edition. Learn this platform it will get a good base and understanding of Hypervisor style operating system. Then take that knowledge even further, especially as ESXI / VM ware has changed their licensing model. I rate this from Entry Level to expert, use in any and all cases! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Proxmox VE?

With the use cases I use it for, I have honestly at this time not come across any down sides to this Operating System. It is very well built. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Proxmox VE:

Just dive in. Grab an old box you have lying around and install it, play with zfs, clustering, and hardware passthrough, get to know the environment!

Install the os on a small SSD or even a usb drive use mass storage for vms (Obviously).

I would recommend a minimum of a 4c to 4c/8t CPU, 8 to 16GB Ram, 1TB for VM's Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Proxmox VE solving and how is that benefiting you?

Scalable solutions for constantly growing customers grow,

but also the ability to reduce the amount of physical servers.

Teaching Hypervisor technology to new technicians. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Proxmox VE?

Proxmox VE is an open-source hypervisor free to use base on GNU General Public License, but support is paid.

It is very easy to deploy and use.

Can be installed on old pcs as well as High-End servers.

The backend services are not new, but powerful and reliable services well known to all Linux users and admins.

It supports LXC containers as well as QEMU/KVM virtual machines. Featuring that using of containers is similar to vm’s on GUI, and make containers very easy-to-use and handy.

It also supports CEPH and RBD to build a distributed object store and file system designed to provide excellent performance, reliability and scalability.

Documentation for Proxmox is very well-made, simple and complete and community support is also available for free.

Clustering is simple and easy use; you can cluster non-hardware-similar hosts as cluster members.

Proxmox VE is a complete virtualization management solution for servers.

In production and with lots of machines, you need hypervisors, management suits and backup solutions.

But in Proxmox all is provided as ONE package. Simple instances or scheduled backups are provided in few clicks. Management also is a user-friendly and simple to use web-based package. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Proxmox VE?

It is some how fragile for non Linux users who are not familiar with back-end tech s that are included.

Training is highly recommended before using it in production! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
