Talking to an account rep that wasn't trying to upsell some extra software or subscription we aren't looking for or going to use was so refreshing! We got right down to important business, which was defining our target customer. While we have done this exercise before, they took it to the next level and actually recommended less than what we originally asked for, and argued that we should start more narrow (which means less money for them), that's integrity! I looked at several B2B lead services by spending a few weeks going through their demos and looking at actual data using the same criteria so it would be apples-to-apples. Prospect Direct had the most complete data we found, around 30-50% more overall records in the criteria we were looking for - SME retail chains, Director, VP and C-suite in various functional areas like marketing, branding and IT. Digging into the actual data, we took a subset of the sample and looked them up in LinkedIn and Google, only found 1 error out of for 50 records checked. Most others had at least 10, usually having left the company or switched jobs months/years ago. We thought this was amazing given they claim to have over 400 million contacts in their database. There was some company data lacking for the smaller companies. I asked our rep about it and they said that with smaller private companies the data was either lacking or couldn’t be confirmed by the minimum 2 sources they require to validate. I guess the upside is that they adjust the price accordingly for these records, or gave me the option to only buy contacts that have full company fields populated. An actual person consults with you about how to define your target customer. Rick asked questions that helped narrow down the ranges and keywords. Very straightforward process to get the data and apply it using their Sales Assistant tool for email marketing campaigns.
