Microsoft is continuing its progression in their advanced threat protection, and will likely one day be "good enough" where if you are bundling an E5 license with Microsoft it might save significant $$. The various modules provide for a level of granularity that we have not experienced with prior products. For example, in our last mail filter, if we wanted to white list a sender, that send was whitelisted for every type of attack possible. With ProofPoint TAP, we can now whitelist a sender for routine spam while remaining protected against more malicious forms of attack. In the same vein, granularity exists as to how various malicious emails can be categorized allowing us to tailor what we let the end users process versus what mail administrators will process. **What do you dislike about Proofpoint Targeted Attack Protection For Email?** The experts will say that product is perfect and TAP is no exception. If I could improve TAP in anyway, it would be in two areas. First, I would like to see improvements made in the Log searching capability. The log search tool in the console can only look back approximately 48 hours. Beyond that, you have to use some very cumbersome CLI tools to search logs. The process is painful enough that I rarely take the time to do even though it would often be useful to do so. Second, I would like them to increase their granularity when it come to what categories of email are displayed in the end user digest. I can enable various categories, but it is a global setting. For instance, in our environment, we have some users who would like the "bulk" category to be included in the digest whereas the majority do not (due to volume). I would prefer to be able to manage the categories on a "category per user" basis. **Recommendations to others considering Proofpoint Targeted Attack Protection For Email:** Work with your reseller to get the most cost competitive pricing. We evaluated this and other offerings in the market. Consider doing a POC. We use the services for both URL Defense and Attachment Defense. The the level of detail provided on the threat landscape, specific attacks and semi-realtime notifications is fairly impressive. We've had very few problems with the services and Proofpoint's support is definitely outstanding compared to some of it's competition. **What do you dislike about Proofpoint Targeted Attack Protection For Email?** Proofpoint could move a bit quicker it providing additional customer based configuration options, particularly in the context of customer supplied patterns for URL based blocking.
