Proofpoint Email Security and Protection Pros and Cons

Proofpoint, as a whole, consists of at least 5 different administrator portals. Proofpoint has done a poor job of unifying their management tools, which we told they were "working on" when we started using it 5+ years ago. They have essentially aquired companies whose features they want, and then hack it into their platform. If you want a "single pane of glass" to see what is going on in your org. Proofpoint is not the solution.

Lastly, there was a big issue Proofpoint being used to send spam through M365 tenants. We have reason to beleive Proofpoint knew about this a year before they decided to inform their customers, and later the public. Not a good look for a security company. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Proofpoint Email Security has the best hassle-free user interface. It allows users to do their phishing analysis/investigation in a very effective way. Sometimes Proofpoint admin portal sucks. If you are searching any email, URL, attachments, or files you will not have the correct result, or sometimes nothing comes after giving the correct values too. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The security and technology offered by Proofpoint is head and shoulders above our previous product. The intelligence and information employed and presented in the dashboards makes issues easily understandable and simple to action. The many functions such as TAP, TRAP, CLEAR etc, all help to create a clean and secure email landscape and the improvements in the product come through thick and fast.

The product is easy to implement, integrate and maintain. Once it's stood up, few adjustments are needed. My favorite thing is the balance provided between the end-user and the admins, emails flagged by Proofpoint can be released by the recipient or by the admins and easily flagged as safe if mislabeled as malicious. I don't really dislike this but I wish there was more control over the digest. I think the digest gives too many options to the user to release spam emails. Even though spam messages aren't a security probem, they are an operational problem that can lead to a security problem if they get out of control. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

First the detection rates are top notch for both spam, phishing, and bulk email. Our users are not wasting time filtering through emails. The false positive rates are low and the system learns quicklyif we do get some. The URL detection is top notch and has protected us from a number of possible issues. Sometimes the pricing and licensing structure is hard to deal with. New features are sometimes "addons" and not just added to main product. This can be a pain if you want those features. ESP provides great security. Out of box deployment reduced our end user spam and risk delivery by an estimated 40%. AFter performing tuning and customization, we were able to reduce this number further to over 60%.

Console can sometimes because slow. The aggressive nature of the product will cause false positives based on conditional properties that can be a challenge to over. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The amount of Spam and Phishing that gets trapped is amazing. The Spam filter is so good that most of our user started to report that they were not getting any spam in there spam folders. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

This product is simple and easy to use. When it comes to email security, this product is at the top of the market. The one thing I do not like about the product is that there is no sort of SSO configuration. As with all Proofpoint products/systems, login is independent for each system. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
