What's up Gold is very intuitive to set up and use! I use it daily to make sure our systems and network are running at an optimal level. It has great features and is very customizable for each user. I love the fact that you can get as granular as you want with every aspect of your systems. What's up gold has great support. The support staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. There is nothing that I really dislike about this product. It does use an MSSQL database which could potentially be an issue when troubleshooting a database problem. Monitoring a stack port can be a headache to set up. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The dashboard overall is simply and easy to navigate. Monitoring is insightful and offers the ability to monitor many types of devices and connection points. Alerts and Alarms are easy to configure and generate. We also send email to phone providers to send SMS. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Setup is tricky in certain areas. Online resources are easy to follow for this, but can take time for thousands of connections. Depending on how it's used, pricing could get high. We also found that third part integrations can be lack luster at times. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The interface is very easy to navigate, and it provides all you need to know about your environment at a glance. The landing page gives a bird's eye view of your environment, letting you know what you need to look into in an easy to understand way. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The support portal doesn't have the best information on what ports are typically used for monitoring. But this is understandable because of how diverse it could need to be depending on your environment. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Progress WhatsUp Gold is expensive Licensing Model.
Alerting System Could Be More Granular.
New users may find it difficult to fully utilize its capabilities without training. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
While performing the upgrade it was discovered that there was an issue with the function of the old scripts based on the way they were written. Rather than just leaving it for us to figure out, they stayed on the call past the alloted support hours and assisted with finding a resolution to the issue. Ultimately, Progress got additional engineers involved who reviewed our custome scripts and provided suggested modifications to correct the issue. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The downside to Progress would be the overall preparedness to perform an upgrade on our system. They were not prepared to overcome an issue that was encountered when performing the upgrade to V24. If the upgrade would have been scheduled to be performed at an earlier time during the day, this may have allowed for the additional support from the Engineering team which was ultimately responsible for correcting the issue that was encountered. The ease of use and configuration of WhatsUp Gold really sets it apart from other monitoring suites I have used in the past. It took less than 5 minutes to really get started in the software and start monitoring our environment. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I would really like to be able to put the database in an always on availablility group. The fact that you can't is a detracter for me. I would think that it would be a capability with the high availablility setup. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

We were looking for a nice looking and simple to use NMS and Progress WhatsUp Gold fits this need. Underneath the bells and whistles is a plethora of features you can utilize to monitor, configure, alert, and keep track of all the assets your institution has. Overall, the value is there and WhatsUp Gold is compatible with all our devices. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The reporting feature could use more custom control to fit the needs of the customer. The reports are good but it doesn't necessary have the formating my management wants. This is not to say it is bad but it's an optional feature to include. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
