Test faster with production-perfect environment clones without touching production Analyze code to generate infrastructure configuration, expose infrastructure context through MCP servers to coding assistants, and provide production-grade environments where agents and humans can test changes against representative data. Teams can run RAG, CAG, and agent workflows alongside conventional services using existing Git processes. Every major cloud, every major language, one unified platform Upsun’s Multi-Cloud and Edge capabilities let platform teams choose the cloud provider and region that best fits each application, without changing how they build or operate it. A consistent platform layer handles provider-specific differences, helping teams meet performance, regulatory, and regional requirements without fragmenting workflows or maintaining custom infrastructure for each provider. Automate environments, infrastructure, and workflows through Git Upsun uses Git as the control plane for the application and environment lifecycle. Infrastructure configuration, environment creation, and operational workflows are defined and versioned alongside application code. This approach is built for leaders, developers, platform engineers, and DevOps teams who want repeatable automation, strong governance, and minimal manual intervention without introducing additional orchestration layers. Scale applications predictably without re-architecting Upsun lets teams adjust application capacity and performance characteristics without redesigning infrastructure or changing deployment workflows. Scaling is managed at the platform level, keeping applications responsive as demand changes. Upsun is designed for teams that need to handle growth, traffic spikes, and variable workloads while maintaining stability and control. Understand your full-stack behavior with built-in visibility Upsun provides built-in observability across infrastructure and applications, including metrics, Application Performance Monitoring (APM), and profiling. Engineers can understand how applications behave in real environments without deploying or maintaining separate monitoring infrastructure. Secure, compliant application environments by default Security and Compliance on Upsun are built into the platform, not added as optional layers. Applications inherit a hardened security posture and compliance-ready controls across all environments, from preview to production. This capability is designed for leadership, developer, platform engineering, and DevOps teams that need to meet strict security and regulatory requirements without slowing development or building custom controls. Start testing new features and running your AI agents in a secure, compliant production-perfect sandbox without touching production. Then, when you’re ready to ship, no need to shift to another platform. Upsun is your unified multi-cloud solution to help your teams test, innovate, and ship faster with peace of mind.

## Upsun Reviews
  ### 1. Platform.sh make life easy from local developement to production

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 25, 2020

**What do you like best about Upsun?**

Directory structure of Platform.sh and defining all configurations in .yml file is really amazing concept.

**What do you dislike about Upsun?**

The only thing it should improve is that it should have an option for adding DB changes or not.

**What problems is Upsun solving and how is that benefiting you?**

All configuration requirement are mentioned in yml file and Platform.sh build it itself.

  ### 2. The PaaS as it should be

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 25, 2020

**What do you like best about Upsun?**

How easy it easy to get from a repo to prod.

**What do you dislike about Upsun?**

It should have Splunk built in for easy insights into logs.

**What problems is Upsun solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Maximising speed to market.

  ### 3. Great concept, poor customer service

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 02, 2019

**What do you like best about Upsun?**

The concept of a git-oriented platform that builds based on Git events is great. You push code to Github and get an URL where a product owner can test the changes.

**What do you dislike about Upsun?**

Unfortunately bad customer service overshadows that. For regular usage you still need to ask for a lot of support, and that is where problems begin.

Support is not customer oriented at all, and not focusing on solving the customer's problem. It takes months to clarify that there is a structural problem that makes it impossible to use the product in certain situations. Nobody of support will take the effort to give you a call, and management does not oversee this.

**Recommendations to others considering Upsun:**

For simple prototypes and simple read-only blog websites the project will probably nicely work. For projects with over 5 pull requests a day and above average infra requirements it is favorable to build your own prototyping tool.

**What problems is Upsun solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Automating the feature testing workflow, and thereby delivering faster (if Platform would have been reliable).

  ### 4. Great idea, terrible execution with very high downtime (2019)

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 28, 2019

**What do you like best about Upsun?**

Simple git-based deployment of our website

**What do you dislike about Upsun?**

Some examples:
- Site down for 8h as platform has sent an email out saying "you may need to redeploy" after one of their software updates. This means (a) you need to get up at 1am UK time to monitor their updates and

**What problems is Upsun solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Simplified continuous deployment, although ultimately it hasn't solved the problem

  ### 5. Git-based hosting deployment without the devops headaches and a ton of versatility.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Art W. | VP of Technology, Marketing and Advertising, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 21, 2018

**What do you like best about Upsun?**

The architecture and flexibility of Platform.sh is up there with the best. It's great to be able to use composer to manage dependencies and have a containerized system that builds those dependencies on each deploy. It's what you, as a developer, would build for yourself if you had the time. But really it's better because you don't have to build or maintain it.
There isn't much that can't be done, even compiling your own PHP extensions in your instance!
The documentation is thorough.

**What do you dislike about Upsun?**

We started using Platform.sh very early after they opened their doors. There have been growing pains, most of which have been resolved. The weakest points right now revolve around visibility and analytics into what your instances are doing. An example is that we've had sites run out of disk storage with no warning in the past. Although, more recently they've implemented an email warning about low disk space to resolve this issue. But analytics within the dashboard about disk storage would be even better.
Support is also a weak area, especially involving followup. The initial response is fast, but if there is any back and forth it seems like the ticket gets lost in the shuffle. The best way to deal with that is to jump into the Slack channel and ask for some attention on your ticket.
Despite these criticisms, it's still one of the best and most flexible systems we've ever used. And they are always improving. Most of my past pain points have been dealt with over the years.

**What problems is Upsun solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Platform.sh for client Drupal websites with moderate to high traffic and high dependability.

  ### 6. Awesome platform, awesome support!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michiel K. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 09, 2018

**What do you like best about Upsun?**

The ease to set-up a blazing fast environment is pretty awesome. Whenever you're stuck or having an issue, just head to their Slack and you'll be guided by one of the best support-desk I've ever experienced. Platform.sh had the luck to have one of the greatest Drupal developers on board (@crell) and since our agency is specialised in Drupal, his support is greatly appreciated.

Besides the huge skillset each and every employee has, they always answer the questions with a slight sense of humor. Very pleasant to work with!

**What do you dislike about Upsun?**

Their support (tickets that is, not Slack) is mostly superficial. "It's fixed" is an awesome answer, but sometimes I would like to know the reason why and a more profound answer.

It's hard to get a clear view on the used disk size. There are some tips and trics to see an estimate of the disk size, but mostly you depends on health warnings (sometimes it's already too late).

Statistics and analytics would be awesome too (track slow processes, see the server load on peaky hours,...) In general, get more insight in your app!

**Recommendations to others considering Upsun:**

Go to their Slack and ask around! It has multiple advantages to ask about it.

**What problems is Upsun solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Benefits: automated deployed, increased our security flow and provide clients much faster with a stable platform
Problems: Not all Drupal sites are fully supported (e.g. multi site) and we cannot see the disk usage (only estimates), so it's hard to know when to upgrade.

  ### 7. Best CI Tool We have used till today

**What do you like best about Upsun?**

the fact that it takes care of all our CI/CD Needs helps us really like an internal Department.

**What do you dislike about Upsun?**

I can not think of anything at the moment.

**Recommendations to others considering Upsun:**

it's the best we've used. give it a try!

**What problems is Upsun solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We let platform.sh create and deploy all our QA and before-go-live servers and also out Live Server in a very professional way

  ### 8. Drupal Developer and Architect

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 09, 2018

**What do you like best about Upsun?**

Platform.sh is a real code driven platform with a lot of tools to make easy the development, testing and deployment.

**What do you dislike about Upsun?**

Platform.sh have the opportunity to improve the UI many users are not technical, however the CLI is very complete.

**Recommendations to others considering Upsun:**

Platform.sh is very powerfull, the CLI is the key to take advantage of the product.

**What problems is Upsun solving and how is that benefiting you?**

All our implementations in Drupal require an stable and secure hosting platform, also the possibility to lauch new enviroments for testing new features, Platform.sh has been a real alliate to be successfull in all deployment and maintenance projects.

  ### 17. Streamlined development and deployment with Platform.sh

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matt G. | Senior Drupal Consultant, Computer Software, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 12, 2015

**What do you like best about Upsun?**

I use Platform.sh to host ContribKanban.com. Platform.sh let me focus on development instead of how I would run deployment of my application. No longer do I need to work on my own infrastructure for running the build of my application, nor its services.

**What do you dislike about Upsun?**

Each build produces a log output. When running the deployment from a local terminal it can be reviewed. However when using GitHub or BitBucket integration the output is in a tiny UI box that can be hard to review.

**What problems is Upsun solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I solved my deployment issues. I have to run NPM to install Node modules, Bower for frontend, and then use Grunt to compiled my distribution files. I was spending more time on deploying my project than developing it. Now I can work on GitHub and have Platform.sh build my pull requests and test environments and maintain production.
