The price! And after that, its simplicity. Photoshop has so many gears, and isn't intuitive in getting to those gears. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Hard to say, but probably more advanced tools that are sort A.I.-like. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Pixelmator can do most all the basic functions of Adobe Photoshop but without the price tag or the "cloud" component and leasing fees. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It can be buggy, I had particular difficulties with the text tool after importing some TTF font files. The characters would not be visible and wouldn't take line breaks.
While the colorizing tools are generally very good, the tint/saturation tool always behaved strangely, desaturating some color values more than others. It made for an interesting effect but not always the desired one. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

For quasi-designers, I would never say I am an expert graphic designer and never execute final files for clients. However, I do last-second image edits for ads, email campaigns and other marketing tactics. All Adobe apps on OS desktop are too convoluted and not intuitive for rookies to intermediate design skilled users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Pixelmator and Pixelmator Pro's biggest downfall is scalability via shareablility. Figma is live-screen editing collaboration. Photoshop and Illustrator have been the leader in this sector for 20 years. I do not know any professional friend that uses Pixelmator on the reg like I do. Would love to cloud share or email .pxm files. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Pixelmator is 100% native Mac application, which follows all of the requirements to be the solid Mac app. It's functionality is on par or better than any other image editing software for mac. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Nothing really. It is great, and only gets better and better. Plus, it is not a subscription, so with just a one time payment, I am getting all features for life. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Pixelmator is a powerful program that is still easy to use. Obviously you can't expect the full functionality of Photoshop for the Pixelmator price tag, but it is also a lot easier to get into, especially for the user with less experience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There is no great automation for deleting backgrounds from photos. There are tools you can use, but you have to decide between not perfect or not fast. Also the repair tool is very limited to easy things to repair in a picture. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Ease of use, professional functions for image retouching and graphic processing, export Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The program is continuously updated, so what is missing is also implemented. For now there is nothing wrong, so good Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Pixelmator is a very low-cost alternative to more advanced photo editing software. The interface and tools are familiar and most, if not all, essential photo editing functions are included. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
More of a commentary on photo editors in general: many advanced features are beyond the ken of the average user like me. Here's an opportunity for Pixelmator to truly be a "photo editor for the rest of us", i.e. present the advanced features like layer blends in a way meaningful to newbies. Its price is great for what it can do. When comparing it to tools like Photoshop, for most people is plenty of power for a very affordable price. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Not much to dislike. It is the best first point of entry into custom photo editing outside of something with great limitations like Canva. At some point, in your progression as an editor, you will find certain limitations or might desire an interface that is a little bit more Mac-native/advanced. That is when you might consider checking out Pixelmator Pro. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
