Piwik PRO Pros and Cons

Mainly Piwik Pro Core is easy to handle. You get a quick overview on the most important stats. I used Google Analytics for over 10 years and I feel comfortable with Piwik. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The tool's ability to extract precise data on user behavior from our website, know the time spent on each page, and especially the sequences of clicks allowing the interface to be reviewed to facilitate the site's usage. Some interfaces, like the visitor section, which is sometimes a bit messy for my taste, but by using it repeatedly, one understands the interest of all the information found there. Perhaps explaining the statistics better would be a solution? Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It is very similar to Google Universal Analytics in terms of dashboards and data model. That makes for a quick transition.

It has cool features like Abandoned Cart and anonymous tracking and also app tracking.

- Its tag manager is still far from GTM, so I did the entire setup of PiwikPro Analytics using GTM.

- Google Analytics 4 allows to choose default attribution model, while PiwikPro does not. You are stuck with Last Click Attribution which can mess your metrics vs Last non direct click or data-driven in Google Analytics 4.

There are still some things not possible like a few missing tags/triggers. But also the 'secondary dimension' is not working as fine as I would expect yet. Also I would like a more progressive pricing plan with more smaller steps, so you can ease in more easily into Piwik Pro. Also It would be nice to do upgrades on site level instead of account level. Piwik PRO is great for data privacy-orientated website tracking strategies. The consent manager might be my favorite tool within Piwik PRO because it is so easy to create, very straightforward to integrate into tags and requires no development support. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

There are very few downsides when using Piwik PRO. One that is worth mentioning is the price of an enterprise account. Moving from a core account at a 500'000 action limit to a 2M action limit is quite the costly jump. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
