What do you dislike about Pilot?
Worst bookkeeping service we've ever experienced. They failed to properly recognize revenue. We sell hardware and software. The hardware is supposed to be recognized as revenue in the month it shipped. For an entire 18-months, they failed to follow this SOP, and it was an SOP they set. For the software, they failed to properly catergorize subscriptions. Thousands of transactions were misplaced into the wrong income accounts. They blamed this on a zap in zapier that they wrote to help automate some imports. They never disclosed the fact they were even using zapier at all. Anyone that ever uses Zapier knows that it needs to be managed. Not only did they not disclose that they were using Zapier to automate bookkeeping, but they didn't manage it and let their zap fail and miscategorize transactions for 18-months. They also incorrectly amoritized monthly subscriptions into daily subscriptions, and then also managed to get the math wrong. The founders are from MIT, yet they got the "count" in "accounting" wrong. We discovered our books were littered with journal entries and adjustments to make up for gross miscategorizations. This made the books unreadable and made it impossible to build any sort of financial KPI to understand the business. They promised to fix/clean up the books after we discovered these issues. Yet, they dragged on that process for months. Each time progress was made, someone would go on PTO. Then we'd discover that they didn't make any progress at all. Finally, we had no choice but to fire Pilot, three weeks before we were supposed to file taxes. Just a huge mess. They took our money for 18-months, messed up our books and financials, promised to fix them, and then failed to deliver on that promise. After several requests for a refund fell on deaf ears (they didn't even respond to our email requests), we've decided to start investigating our legal options. We've had to pay another bookkeeping service to step in and clean-up our books, hire a fractional CFO team to assist, and are now looking at IRS penalities for filling taxes late. The damages keep piling up. Don't let Pilot crash your company. Steer clear! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Recommendations to others considering Pilot:
Steer clear. Pilot is the worst possible custodian of your books. There are much better bookkeeping services out there, and although many are more expensive, the poor quality services you'll receive with Pilot will cost you a lot more! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
What problems is Pilot solving and how is that benefiting you?
Pilot was hired to provide bookkeeping services. There services aimed at leveraging a combination of AI and experienced/qualified staff to help reduce costs and increase transparency. They did the exact opposite. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
