## Pilot Reviews
  ### 1. great experience!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 30, 2025

**What do you like best about Pilot?**

Their fast responses and high touch support, also their dilligence and simple product.

**What do you dislike about Pilot?**

Nothing really! Could use more help with tax guidance though and filing

**What problems is Pilot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Pilot helps us keep clean accounting for our company

  ### 2. Pilot has exceeded expectations every step of the way.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Deborah V. P. | CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 07, 2024

**What do you like best about Pilot?**

The process is simple, straightforward, smooth. Questions are answered near immediately, with patience and deep knowledge. Most important is how very human and caring they are in the best way. After a family tragedy earlier this year, I was very moved by Pilot's unexpected and deeply thoughtful response.

**What do you dislike about Pilot?**

There is nothing I dislike about Pilot. I love them!

**Recommendations to others considering Pilot:**

Think about what makes a vendor great. Quality of product, ease of service, and adaptability.

**What problems is Pilot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are a small business, and Pilot serves as our bookkeeper and tax service. This keeps us on track, transparent, and able to focus on other aspects of our business. In effect, they are serving as our CFO based on our present needs.

  ### 3. Positive Experience with Pilot as a Bookkeeper

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nick F. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 01, 2024

**What do you like best about Pilot?**

Smooth platform with a team that communicated well & answered questions promptly. CEO reached out reguarly to see if I was happy with my service. Books were given at a steady & predictable pace.

**What do you dislike about Pilot?**

A little expensive for really early stage startups. They offer more services than I was ready for, so I stopped my subscription for now & plan to join again later. Also, the commitment to an annual subscription was not ideal for my current stage, but probably makes more sense later.

**Recommendations to others considering Pilot:**

Solid bookkeeper service. I don't have much experience with bookkeeping so I can't speak much to quality, but I had a pleasant exprerience & would definitely recommend reaching out to see if they fit your needs.

**What problems is Pilot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Basic bookkeeping for a startup company.

  ### 4. Fantastic financial services for my startup

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Topher R. | Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 17, 2024

**What do you like best about Pilot?**

Very intutitive system that integrates with all of the tools we use.

**What do you dislike about Pilot?**

I haven't really encountered anything that I dislike.

**Recommendations to others considering Pilot:**

We're a small startup so I can't speak for every situation but using Gusto for payroll and Brex for banking along with Stripe for revenue, we're really happy with how easy they've made it for us to stay on top of books. Reporting back to investors is a cinch with their help. Taxes and R&D credits are easy now because they're already plugged into all of our transactions. We started using them in our third month of existence as an entity so the setup was a lot easier because there wasn't a whole lot of historical things to worry about.

**What problems is Pilot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Pilot is tackling bookkeeping and taxes for us along with R&D credits.

  ### 5. Makes Bookkeeping Easy

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 15, 2024

**What do you like best about Pilot?**

Pilot makes understanding all aspects of our financials simple. They also continue to make improvements like Q&A intide the portal.

**What do you dislike about Pilot?**

It would be helpful for us to be able to get our books earlier in the month without incurring an additional charge.

**What problems is Pilot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Pilot handles our corporate bookkeeping. They are timely, kind, informed, and good communicators.

  ### 6. Onboarding and continued support are seamless

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Law Practice | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 06, 2024

**What do you like best about Pilot?**

The bookkeeping team assigned to my firm is transparent and keeps me updated monthly.

**What do you dislike about Pilot?**

I have not experience any downside or anything that I dislike about Pilot, yet.

**Recommendations to others considering Pilot:**

Allow Pilot to handle your bookkeeping and accounting needs for your business. T

**What problems is Pilot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Pilot is handling my law firm's financial books on a monthly basis.

  ### 7. Seamless Onboarding

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Josh K. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 07, 2024

**What do you like best about Pilot?**

Clear communication and efficient delivery.

**What do you dislike about Pilot?**

I wish the dashboard had a status/ kanban view of all tasks and messages.

**Recommendations to others considering Pilot:**

Do it. I wish I had this at my last company.

**What problems is Pilot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Pilot is saving me time on back office and financial overhead so I can focus on my customers and my product.

  ### 8. Positive experience, prompt and thoughtful communication

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** James M. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 23, 2024

**What do you like best about Pilot?**

Pilot has been very communicative about our books, and has always worked quickly to correct any issues which have arisen.

**What do you dislike about Pilot?**

The cost is substantial for a small firm.

**Recommendations to others considering Pilot:**

If you have the ability to handle your own books internally at a reasonable cost, it makes sense to do so. If you're big enough to need a clear set of books for tax and compliance purposes, but small enough not to have an in-house bookkeeper, Pilot makes a lot of sense.

**What problems is Pilot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We previously made an amateurish attempt to keep our own books. Pilot does a much better job.

  ### 9. Pilot takes bookkeeping and taxes off my plate

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Eric M. | Co-Founder and CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 21, 2024

**What do you like best about Pilot?**

Pilot gets things done in the background and requires minimal input from me. I like that Pilot respects my time.

**What do you dislike about Pilot?**

I wish they would provide an even cheaper option for early stage companies like mine. Right now we are getting good value, but we will get even greater value as my compoany grows.

**What problems is Pilot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Pilot keeps the books and prepares taxes for my company, saving me time and giving me peace of mind that we are compliant.

  ### 10. Outstanding Service and Team

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Biotechnology | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 05, 2023

**What do you like best about Pilot?**

- Great software solution to work through taxes and monthly bookkeeping
- Clear onboarding structure and implementation/integration with other tools
- Quick turnaround times from customer service and accountants
- High competence across a wide area of knowledge due to a lot of experts inhouse
- Transparent cost- and service scheme

**What do you dislike about Pilot?**

- The fact that accounting and bookkeeping is still handled by separate reps -- I think it's a tradeoff between convenience and being able to speak to the domain expert any time.

**Recommendations to others considering Pilot:**

Whether you're 10, 100 or 1000 employees I think that Pilot has the right service level and I'd prefer them over any local tax advisor simply through the number of integrations they have.

**What problems is Pilot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I've worked with Pilot at two companies so far and based on my experience at the first company I've decided to hire them again at the second company.
They're doing an outstanding job at providing a software-based solution where otherwise a lot of providers are still e-mail and phone based.

From the initial setup to even the dissolution of a company Pilot helps out with all matters accounting and taxes, even providing fractional CFO services.

  ### 11. I receive excellent bookkeeping services

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Iyad A. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 06, 2024

**What do you like best about Pilot?**

Talented people and very cooperative. Quick reply and fast response to any inquiry.

**What do you dislike about Pilot?**

None so far. However, always development is manadate for any business.

**Recommendations to others considering Pilot:**

Always convenient to work with high profissional people and service provider like Pilot.

**What problems is Pilot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Pilot has helpped me to establish a well organized bookkeeping system and financial records

  ### 12. Great Customer Experience for time and resource strapped startups

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael M. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 01, 2023

**What do you like best about Pilot?**

Pilot has helped us cut down on our close times and make it more efficient from start to finish. They make it easy to use and try to build a good, repeatable process into their system.

**What do you dislike about Pilot?**

Nothing, Pilot has been great for us as an organization

**What problems is Pilot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Pilot has been a massive help in handling the bookeeping and accounting function for our org. Our Senior Account Manager, Tyler, is incredibly responsive and resourceful especially when we are in a time crunch. If he doesn't have a solution, he will refer us to Pilot's network of folks who can help.

  ### 13. Saves a lot of hassle

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Online Media | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 31, 2024

**What do you like best about Pilot?**

- Amazing support to make sure your problems are solved
- Clean dashboard
- Sensible system for when they involve you vs when they don't

**What do you dislike about Pilot?**

Sometimes it can feel like you're dealing with a lot of different people, but ultimately it's okay - and potentially necessary - because the problem will get solved

**What problems is Pilot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Pilot made a lot of our tax and accounting worries basically dissapear.

They deliver on their promise.

Where the product can't deal with complexity in our books, my experience so far has been that they pour in people support to make sure we still have the same peace of mind.

  ### 14. Pilot is absolutely fantastic!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 25, 2024

**What do you like best about Pilot?**

Incredibly easy to use their portal, quick responses to questions, and clean EOM books.

**What do you dislike about Pilot?**

Pilot so far hasn't had any issues. They've been super responsive and easy!

**Recommendations to others considering Pilot:**

Really strong solution to take bookkeeping off your plate. They have fantastic customer support and add major value with their best practice recommendations.

**What problems is Pilot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's totally outsourced our QBO management, bookkeeping and tax preparation.

  ### 15. Pilot is all you need for start-up bookkeeping

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Biotechnology | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 24, 2024

**What do you like best about Pilot?**

Pilot saves a ton of time for start-ups like us. They are familiar and have connections with all standard banking systems and it makes closing books every month really easy. Tax filings are even easier as Pilot already pulls all necessary data through the integrations, and the amount of work that I have to do personally is very small.

**What do you dislike about Pilot?**

Some integrations at Pilot are still being improved, so not every single data point is pulled automatically. However, Pilot has always found workarounds to make it as smooth as possible.

**What problems is Pilot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Bookkeeping and tax filings from the company incorporation through the Seed financing round and later.

  ### 16. Pilot - An Extension of our Team

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jim R. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 26, 2023

**What do you like best about Pilot?**

Pilot is there when you need them for support and behind the scenes when there isn't a pressing issue or question.

**What do you dislike about Pilot?**

There are virtually no downsides to Pilot. They are an incredible extension of our lean team that enables us to make informed decisions regularly while being prepared to review financials with investors and advisors.

**Recommendations to others considering Pilot:**

A strong set of financial is paramount to make decisions and to continue to grow but can be increidbly time consuming to keep up with on a recurring, regular basis. Pilot takes all the hard work out of the equation and are a great resource to lean on when the need arises. They are truly an extension of our very lean team.

**What problems is Pilot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Overall Pilot has been incredibly supportive of our business. Relying on an updated, professional set of financials helps free up our lean team to operate and execute. Pilot has supported us when we needed it, and runs behind the scenes when support isn't required. Overall its been an incredible partnership.

  ### 17. Excellent service and fast!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Viviana Carla R. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 19, 2024

**What do you like best about Pilot?**

The web platform to comunicate. No email comunication necessary, all explained perfectly inside the platform. If you have questions, you can write to them and they answer very quickly.

**What do you dislike about Pilot?**

Nothing. Did not have any problems yet. All perfect.

**Recommendations to others considering Pilot:**

All your bookeeping and taxes centralized in just one platform.

**What problems is Pilot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Bookeeping and taxes. We would not know how to do it.

  ### 18. Great solution for smaller companies

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 27, 2023

**What do you like best about Pilot?**

The team are very responsive and the platform makes it easy for them to pose questions each month about transactions, vendors, etc and answer them.

They also setup our Chart of Accounts and General Ledger pretty sensibly using a template for small SaaS businesses like ours. That was a welcome time-saver.

**What do you dislike about Pilot?**

Their commitment is to close the books by the 25th or so of each subsequent month which is pretty slow for a company as small and with as few transactions as we have. Maybe we should have negotiated that date upfront?

Our main point of contact seems to have changed several times during and after implementation. That's been a minor speedbump though.

**Recommendations to others considering Pilot:**

Know that if you have a backlog of months (or years) of books to catch up, it may take a while and cost extra -- but it's worth it.

**What problems is Pilot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Pilot handles basic bookkeeping for us and closes our books each month. They have more advanced offerings we haven't taken advantage of yet, too.

  ### 19. Professional bookkeeping for growing businesses

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Arts and Crafts | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 26, 2023

**What do you like best about Pilot?**

Clear bookkeeping that is easy to download and review. Responsive when I have questions and never make me feel dumb or inexperienced when I need help. Reliable service.

**What do you dislike about Pilot?**

Pilot is expensive. For the size and scale of our business, it is one of our larger expenses each month. While I feel it's worthwhile to have clean books, it's painful to pay so much.

**Recommendations to others considering Pilot:**

Best for businesses that are growing, want clean books, and can afford the fees.

**What problems is Pilot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have a complex business that involves membership payments that need to be accrued over many months. Pilot is able to accurately keep my books and I don't have to worry that things might be done incorrectly by someone who is less experienced managing the books of an online business or a membership-based business.

  ### 20. A rarity in US Business

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Raymond J. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 01, 2023

**What do you like best about Pilot?**

Basically, I love everything about Pilots way of doing business. For me, having a vendor where you actually look forward to meetings or reading emails is a rarity. All that said, their willingness to integrate with new technology and the speed with which they adapt, makes me want to shake the hand of the IT Team, but there has been no reason to even know their names, thats how good they are.

**What do you dislike about Pilot?**

For me of course its the time difference. I`m normally either 6/7 or 9 hours in front of them so days can be long, but they absolutly make it work, so I would still advise choosing Pilot if you do business in the US, but lead from overseas.

**Recommendations to others considering Pilot:**

Speak to the people, you will immediately get a fell for them, the team spirit, skill, preparedness and a sheere delight to communicate with.

**What problems is Pilot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Pilot is truly good at staying on top of rules and regulations, be it books or taxes, so I dont have to. They are patient and helpful as I remember my first mentor was. He was the CEO of a company with more than 90 % market share on WallSt. They made Stentofon / Stentophone. Plastic with fresh colours and the buttons, you know. They keep me on their toes with deadlines and communicate truly well. What I get in return is calm, focus and hours and hours better spent on planning of growth, for instance.

  ### 21. Pilot's the best for non-US founders!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in E-Learning | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 26, 2023

**What do you like best about Pilot?**

Platform makes it easy to classify information. Imagine a product created for non-finance people, but organizes things as if you were an expert. I highly recommend this.

**What do you dislike about Pilot?**

I'd like to think it's a bit expensive, but that's the price of compliance. It would've been more costly to not do things properly.

**What problems is Pilot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's really difficult to work on finance problems. While it's easy to set up a company in the US, it doesn't mean you aren't free from the requirements of reporting and paying tax. As someone who isn't based in the US, this is difficult to navigate. Pilot has made it so much easier for us to do this. Almost 3 year customer here!

  ### 22. Pilot is a must for resource/time-strapped startups

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alexander R. | Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 15, 2023

**What do you like best about Pilot?**

Their customer service has been fantastic!

**What do you dislike about Pilot?**

Nothing! It's been a seamless experience since we've worked with them.

**Recommendations to others considering Pilot:**

Make sure to provide responses when asked to so you can get your books in time!

**What problems is Pilot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Pilot has helped us save time preparing our books, taxes, and all things financial, and has prevented headache trying to figure it all out as a first-time founder.

  ### 23. Very please with transition to PILOT

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** MARY L. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 30, 2023

**What do you like best about Pilot?**

Ease and speed of communication in addition to timely reports

**What do you dislike about Pilot?**

Quarterly payment is trickier w cash flow, there's a premium charged for monthly billing

**Recommendations to others considering Pilot:**

It's a terrific one stop shop for all things accounting and bookkeeping related.

**What problems is Pilot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Streamlined communication avenues make for easy information transfer. Timely reports and available personnel are key!

  ### 24. Flexible and professional for our start-up needs

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Biotechnology | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 07, 2023

**What do you like best about Pilot?**

Customer Service, Structured Accounting, and helpful calls from executive team to ensure that we're keeping up with changing times in the market as our start-up grows

**What do you dislike about Pilot?**

Unclear scope of service (beware of extra hidden fees), not cheap for base price, Pilot says that they're behind schedule each month, and not the best integration with Rippling/Brex

**What problems is Pilot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our small team needs a stand-in CFO. Pilot complements our tech stack (Rippling, Brex, etc.) to ensure that we are filing our taxes in a compliant and timely manner as well as benefitting from our R&D credits and getting our books in order.

  ### 25. Very responsive team, easy-to-use product

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Yash M. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 31, 2023

**What do you like best about Pilot?**

They are super responsive and kind! We work with India Mc... and she's great. Also, the user interface of their website is super easy to understand and use. I would highly recommend.

**What do you dislike about Pilot?**

The categorization stuff. I don't know how to best categorize things, like "Google Domains". Is that branding, or software expenses? Would like to see that improved.

**What problems is Pilot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They do all of our bookkeeping for us and handle our taxes. This saves us a bunch of time and allows us to focus on what's really important about our business – product and growth.

  ### 26. Put your company finances on autopilot as a you scale

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 10, 2023

**What do you like best about Pilot?**

Pilot provides the experience of having a cost-efficient expert finance team that I did not need to hire myself. They're saving us time and money, and helping our business operate more efficiently.

**What do you dislike about Pilot?**

Pilot has exceeded all of my expectations as an outsourced finance team, but I do have one piece of advice -- if you ever wish they were being more proactive, you probably need to reach out to your customer success representative to upgrade to a higher tier of service.

**Recommendations to others considering Pilot:**

Stop looking at other solutions. You should purchase this one, and just remember to ask for upgrades as you scale.

**What problems is Pilot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

When we raised venture funding 4 years ago, Pilot was our first purchase: because as soon as you have money, you need someone to track it for you. Since that initial purchase of Pilot Core Bookkeeping, whenever we have had a pain point in our finances, Pilot has had a solution:

- When our accounting needs became more advanced, we upgraded our bookkeeping package.
- At the end of the first year, when we need to file our state taxes, Pilot had us covered.
- As we built our engineering team and navigated unusual economic times, they made us aware of credits that could extend our runway, such as the R&D tax credit and PPP loans.
- As we scaled after surviving the pandemic, we needed a more robust AP/AR solution, so now Pilot manages all of our AP/AR.
- As our AP/AR spend began to span many areas, we upgraded to use their Controller Services.
- As our forecasting needs became more complex, we began working with Pilot CFO services.
- We've raised two rounds of funding and Pilot has proactively identified the right numbers to highlight, created the deck, and been able to package the information necessary for financial diligence.

Today, we are now a 150-person Series A-stage company with no in-house finance team because Pilot's solutions are so complete, and we are accomplishing more and spending less than we would by hiring these functions in-house. Highly recommended for any startup.

  ### 27. Pilot is great

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Staffing and Recruiting | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 25, 2023

**What do you like best about Pilot?**

quick / good communication from there team

**What do you dislike about Pilot?**

it's pricier than other options from what I've heard, but worth it.

**Recommendations to others considering Pilot:**

makes sense to use them vs. hiring someone because of the automation they use is faster/more accurate

**What problems is Pilot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

bookkeeping - pilot uses AI to automate it and has helpful customer service

  ### 28. Solving Bookkeeping Problems - Empowering Growth

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Non-Profit Organization Management | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 17, 2022

**What do you like best about Pilot?**

They are most helpful by taking full ownership of things in a way that allows me to rest easy. I appreciate the balance they strike between owning things and making sure I understand what they're doing to ensure it matches our business needs/processes/etc.

**What do you dislike about Pilot?**

I think there were a lot of different folks I talked to during onboarding, which is to be expected, but a bit of consistency could go a long way. That said, liked them all! (I struggled to come up with this, there are very few things, if any, that aren't done extremely well)

**Recommendations to others considering Pilot:**

Go for it, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

**What problems is Pilot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a start-up, time is the real constraint on anything and everything we do. Pilot has helped to lift the load of bookkeeping and financial documentation off of me so I can focus on growing our organization! Thank you Pilot, it's been great working with you so far and I look forward to continuing to work together into the future.

  ### 29. Easy and Friendly Accounting Services--Mostly Set and Forget

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Diz P. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 25, 2023

**What do you like best about Pilot?**

We can grow with pilot--for example we can use the fractional CFO services when ready to advance to that level but not ready for a full-time CFO.

**What do you dislike about Pilot?**

I wish they handled everything, including UI and other things that we have to use another company to handle through our relationship with Gusto.

**What problems is Pilot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This is just what I was looking for. I have an MBA but honestly the accounting classes were hard to get through. Pilot has been a good partner helping us get our finances in order from day 1 and keep our P&L updated.

  ### 30. A true partner in your business

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Adam F. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 27, 2023

**What do you like best about Pilot?**

High quality books, of course, and also general financial advice & support.

**What do you dislike about Pilot?**

As a founder, I wish they did my personal taxes as well.

**Recommendations to others considering Pilot:**

Look at their recommended financial stack - it's a great set of tools to make your life easier.

**What problems is Pilot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Pilot is not only the best bookkeeping service we've used (we've run two companies with pilot doing our books, and the quality of the books has been excellent), but they're also a partner in your business. When it comes to fundraising, fractional CFO services, and supporting any unique financial events like a bank run on SVB, pilot has been there for us. Highly recommended.

  ### 31. Easy and Efficient Books Management + Problem Solving

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jamin H. | General Counsel, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 16, 2023

**What do you like best about Pilot?**

Books are well put together and the staff is fairly responsive. The cost to benefit is favorable.

**What do you dislike about Pilot?**

Response times can vary but no more than other professional service providers.

**What problems is Pilot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Outside of just managing our books in an efficient and accurate manner we have the issue of managing an online platform that allows users to have wallets, make in-platform purchases, and to withdraw funds. Getting our platform to accurately report into our books and records is fairly complex and Pilot is assisting us in creating the accounts, outlining their needs for accurate accounting, and identifying additional data and support documents we need to generate.

  ### 32. Helpful and efficient service provider powered by an online portal/application.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 26, 2023

**What do you like best about Pilot?**

They are very quick to respond to messages or questions. Also, their service providers leverage the online platform that I can access via portal, to find key information quickly.

**What do you dislike about Pilot?**

Because they service a number of other businesses, we have to sometimes bear the (non-financial) costs of this. For example, if we don't want to pay an extra fee, we need to be ok with books getting delivered at the end of the following month.

**What problems is Pilot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Pilot is both our business bookkeeper as well as our income tax preparer. They help us save significant time and stress as a business by handling these aspects of our business operations.

  ### 33. Very valuable service

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nick D. | CEO, Health, Wellness and Fitness, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 25, 2023

**What do you like best about Pilot?**

Consistency! On the 20th business day I get my books, I review, send my feedback, and get them finalized.

**What do you dislike about Pilot?**

There can be some repetitive feedback with my books on a monthly basis but they are quick to turn it around.

**Recommendations to others considering Pilot:**

Can't imagine you'll find a more affordable, more consistent service. Great value.

**What problems is Pilot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Consistent bookkeeping throughout the year so that my tax return specialist can file quickly and efficiently.

  ### 34. Friendly, professional and efficient service

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Taric M. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 28, 2023

**What do you like best about Pilot?**

Pilot makes the accounting side a breeze, freeing up time.

Also, their CEO is extremely helpful with giving startup advice as well as approachable.

**What do you dislike about Pilot?**

We haven't found downsides yet. So far, no complaints, and very happy with the service across the board.

**Recommendations to others considering Pilot:**

Definitely give them a shot, particularly if you are a tech startup. If you need help in other areas besides their core services, it doesn't hurt to ask, they often can help in ways you wouldn't expect and/or connect you to someone who can.

**What problems is Pilot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Pilot is handling our bookkeeping and corporate taxes.

  ### 35. Pilot for Book Keeping

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Health, Wellness and Fitness | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 19, 2023

**What do you like best about Pilot?**

1) Easy onboarding
2) Seamless technological integration with all of our financial vendors
2) knowledgeable on our unique structure with "industry experts" to guide initial set up process.
3) Flexible in working with us to provide additional detail we needed.
4) Branden Armes was especially valuable and helpful. He is highly recommended. He went the extra mile to help us get better understanding of all of the numbers going into the financials and clearing up other questions we had.

**What do you dislike about Pilot?**

Initial set of financials didn't include a detailed breakdown of sources, so we could fully see everything that is going into an expense/revenue account. This would be especially helpful at set up.

**Recommendations to others considering Pilot:**

Easy to use. Automation and integration is key to scalability. No worries around hiring and firing an internal book keeper.

**What problems is Pilot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Pilot is providing Book Keeping services for our healthcare organization. We have a unique structure that Pilot understood and was able to handle book keeping for multiple entities.

  ### 36. Come for the simplicity, stay for the outcome

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nicholas A. | CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 02, 2022

**What do you like best about Pilot?**

Amazing value for the cost, buying my business significant flexibility for the future/ trust that our financials are always in great shape. The CFO services have been the most pleasantly unexpected value-add to my business. I'm eager to be an early customer for a soon-to-be-announced product that's been the bane of my existence managing a growing team's incentives program ;)

**What do you dislike about Pilot?**

We're a value-based healthcare business with complex non-GAAP metrics, multiple operating entities and a ton of complexity. Pilot can/ will build internal "center of excellence" programs for big verticals that would have accelerated the learning curve and reduced my team's involvement in implementation.

**Recommendations to others considering Pilot:**

Don't think - sign the deal and get back to focusing on "what makes your beer taste better?"

**What problems is Pilot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

First, I thought of Pilot as the bookkeeping easy button. Out of sight, out of mind, and designed give me back precious time as a founder.

Ultimately, our biggest value has come from the a) infrastructure to setup a complex set of entity/ funds flows, and b) the value-add during fundraising/ FP&A from CFO services

  ### 37. Saves us a lot of time and money once the tricky onboarding process is complete

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 31, 2023

**What do you like best about Pilot?**

Once in steady state, Pilot handles most of our transaction categorization without needing much input from us. These bookkeeping efforts save us a lot of time. The CEO also makes himself available to us, which is an excellent touch of customer service.

**What do you dislike about Pilot?**

The onboarding experience was quite frustrating. It involved many hand-offs and multiple iterations before the first set of books was in good shape. Once we received our final bookkeeper, it was smoother sailing.

**Recommendations to others considering Pilot:**

Pilot's output seems to rely heavily on the individual bookkeeper working on your account. If you're having a good amount of trouble, it may be worth requesting a new bookkeeper within Pilot.

**What problems is Pilot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Pilot is augmenting our Finance team by handling our bookkeeping. It saves us time and allows us to put off making additional hires to take care of bookkeeping and to create financial statement reports.

  ### 38. Pilot steered our accounting straight into the ground and destroyed our books

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Raj S. | CEO & Co-Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 07, 2020

**Describe the project or task Pilot helped with:**

Tax, R&D tax credit, accounting, and bookkeeping

**What do you like best about Pilot?**

Nothing. Steer clear of pilot. I wish I had something positive to say here, but I don't.

**What do you dislike about Pilot?**

Worst bookkeeping service we've ever experienced. They failed to properly recognize revenue. We sell hardware and software. The hardware is supposed to be recognized as revenue in the month it shipped. For an entire 18-months, they failed to follow this SOP, and it was an SOP they set. For the software, they failed to properly catergorize subscriptions. Thousands of transactions were misplaced into the wrong income accounts. They blamed this on a zap in zapier that they wrote to help automate some imports. They never disclosed the fact they were even using zapier at all. Anyone that ever uses Zapier knows that it needs to be managed. Not only did they not disclose that they were using Zapier to automate bookkeeping, but they didn't manage it and let their zap fail and miscategorize transactions for 18-months. They also incorrectly amoritized monthly subscriptions into daily subscriptions, and then also managed to get the math wrong. The founders are from MIT, yet they got the "count" in "accounting" wrong. We discovered our books were littered with journal entries and adjustments to make up for gross miscategorizations. This made the books unreadable and made it impossible to build any sort of financial KPI to understand the business. They promised to fix/clean up the books after we discovered these issues. Yet, they dragged on that process for months. Each time progress was made, someone would go on PTO. Then we'd discover that they didn't make any progress at all. Finally, we had no choice but to fire Pilot, three weeks before we were supposed to file taxes. Just a huge mess. They took our money for 18-months, messed up our books and financials, promised to fix them, and then failed to deliver on that promise. After several requests for a refund fell on deaf ears (they didn't even respond to our email requests), we've decided to start investigating our legal options. We've had to pay another bookkeeping service to step in and clean-up our books, hire a fractional CFO team to assist, and are now looking at IRS penalities for filling taxes late. The damages keep piling up. Don't let Pilot crash your company. Steer clear!

**Recommendations to others considering Pilot:**

Steer clear. Pilot is the worst possible custodian of your books. There are much better bookkeeping services out there, and although many are more expensive, the poor quality services you'll receive with Pilot will cost you a lot more!

**What problems is Pilot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Pilot was hired to provide bookkeeping services. There services aimed at leveraging a combination of AI and experienced/qualified staff to help reduce costs and increase transparency. They did the exact opposite.

  ### 39. Helpful, responsive, clear, and strategic

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Aviva R. | Co-Founder and COO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 31, 2023

**What do you like best about Pilot?**

The ability to use our fractional CFO as a thought partner and to be able to delegate tasks and questions from the board and potential investors.

**What do you dislike about Pilot?**

It costs some money per hour, so you need to prioritize the most important tasks or make sure you can afford the larger hourly bundle.

**Recommendations to others considering Pilot:**

For startup founders, this is a great way to outsource work you do yourself and find a strategic experienced finance partner.

**What problems is Pilot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Pilot's fractional CFO is providing the services a traditional CFO would do: creating models and advising on growth plans and expenses. These are services I've been doing myself up until now.

  ### 40. Pilot has been with us since day 1 - No-brainer for new companies

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Utku Z. | CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 24, 2023

**What do you like best about Pilot?**

We do not have to think about the accounting/taxes for our business. We only focus on our product and key business offerings.

**What do you dislike about Pilot?**

If you are an existing company with many custom processes, it may be harder to get on-boarded. That said this is not our experience.

**Recommendations to others considering Pilot:**

If you are starting a new business, Pilot is a fantastic partner. They will off-load all of the bookkeeping/tax-related activity from your core business. Using Pilot from day 1 will also ensure you are following the best practices instead of some other home-grown process which doesn't scale.

**What problems is Pilot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Bookkeeping, tax, R&D tax credit.

  ### 41. Wonderful Service, Very Diligent Team

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Victor Y. | CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 14, 2022

**What do you like best about Pilot?**

The ease of communication & availability of the team, wonderful online platform to simplify things. Simplified processes and streamlimed processes. More professional than others.

**What do you dislike about Pilot?**

Nothing is not working well, we are enjoying all. Nothing we did not realize with the solution, no comment on imporvements. No impovements that we can see possible.

**Recommendations to others considering Pilot:**

Perform your research, in the market to vet other providers after speaking to Pilot, you will find others that claim they can perform at the level of Pilot but do not deliver, we learned through trial and error with other firms that claim to be experts in E-Commerce.

**What problems is Pilot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

All inclusive, detailed Booking Keeping, Grossing Up all transactions, and expertise in our space to make things very easy and understandable. Things have gotten more steamlined.

There is nothing I dislike. Pilot has exceeded my expectation.

**Recommendations to others considering Pilot:**

I will recommend Pilot to technology startups and US companies dealing with crypto or digital assets.

**What problems is Pilot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Pilot assists my company and me with all the bookkeeping and tax consultation. It made our team more productive. They understand how startups work and how cryptos work.

I have not encountered anything yet within the Pilot system that concerns me.

**Reviewed Date:** May 30, 2023

**What do you like best about Pilot?**

They provide us with accurate books in a timely and relatively inexpensive manner.

**What do you dislike about Pilot?**

I only get each month's results at the end of the next month.

**What problems is Pilot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ensuring our accounting is complete and accurate. They are much better at accounting than I am.

  ### 47. Automated bookkeeping is awesome

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mike W. | CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 02, 2022

**What do you like best about Pilot?**

I like the automated nature of what they have to offer.

**What do you dislike about Pilot?**

While they got the job done, the tax side of the house I felt could have processed our taxes a little quicker.

**What problems is Pilot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I no longer have to worry about my books; they are delivered on time every time. The reports are consistent and present an accurate picture of the state of affairs of the business.

  ### 48. Makes my job easier as a founder!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Hardik P. | Co-Founder, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 13, 2022

**What do you like best about Pilot?**

Pilot's customer support is responsive and helpful. They were very considerate and resourceful when helping me solve a bank account issue. Pilot is much more startup-focused than an average accountant, which is a strong advantage. The Pilot portal is also very clean and simple, which saves a lot of time.

**What do you dislike about Pilot?**

No real complaints, but it would be helpful if Pilot managed R&D credits and related topics within their feature set!

**Recommendations to others considering Pilot:**

Definitely would advise startups to work with a startup-specialized service such as Pilot as opposed to working with a legacy accountant.

**What problems is Pilot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Pilot takes care of most bookkeeping, accounting, and tax matters for us. These are time-consuming and challenging to navigate, but Pilot takes care of them and frees up my time!

  ### 49. Quality and customized bookkeeping, accounting, and financial services

**Reviewed Date:** February 01, 2023

**What do you like best about Pilot?**

**What do you dislike about Pilot?**

It would be great if Pilot could also recommend best practice, suggestions for efficient billing, etc.

**What problems is Pilot solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They help with billing each month, and we use their CFO services. Pilot designated a team that works with us to customize the process and ensure our needs are met. This is helpful because our billing process has a lot of nuance and customization.
