"Phrase TMS – your friendly neighbourhood CAT tool"
5/5
What do you like best about Phrase?

Phrase TMS has evolved quite a lot since I first used it. What I still appreciate is how approachable and intuitive it feels compared to many traditional CAT tools, but the platform has also become much more polished and feature-rich over time.

One of my biggest wishes was native desktop support for Mac users, and Phrase actually delivered that. The CAT Desktop Editor is now available for both macOS and Windows, which made the platform feel much more professional and comfortable to use for translators who prefer dedicated desktop software over browser-only workflows.

I also like that the interface has become cleaner and more organized. The workflows, dashboards, and project management tools now feel more modern and visually refined than before, while still keeping the simplicity that originally drew me to the platform.

Another noticeable improvement is the stronger integration of AI and automation features. Phrase now feels less like a simple CAT tool and more like a complete localization ecosystem, especially with machine translation, workflow automation, and reporting tools becoming much more advanced. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Phrase?

Even though the platform has improved significantly, I still think there is room to make the desktop experience more central to the product. Ironically, after finally introducing a dedicated CAT desktop editor, Phrase announced that the desktop application will move into maintenance mode, with no major future feature development planned.

The browser version works very well, but many translators – especially power users – still prefer fully native desktop workflows with deeper shortcut customization, faster responsiveness, and tighter operating system integration.

I also think the interface could still become more visually distinctive and customizable. While it is cleaner now than it used to be, some areas still feel very utilitarian and enterprise-focused rather than optimized for long daily translation sessions. Finally, as Phrase keeps adding AI and automation features, I hope the platform continues balancing innovation with usability. One of its greatest strengths has always been how unintimidating it feels for newcomers, and it would be a shame if the interface eventually became overloaded with advanced enterprise functionality. "Simplicity in managing localization for a small company"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Phrase?

The platform still provides a very smooth workflow for localization management, especially for small teams. The Figma integration remains one of the strongest features for designers and product teams, making string management and updates much faster. We also appreciate the clean interface and the overall ease of onboarding for new team members. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Phrase?

More flexibility in user role customization would still be very valuable for growing teams with different workflows and responsibilities Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Brittany Nelson of Phrase

Edouard, thank you for sharing your feedback! Really happy to hear that the Figma plugin has been useful (noted on the bugs) for your team of designers and developers and that you're saving time in general. And great feedback about the user roles as well, thank you!

"One of the best out there!"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Phrase?

I spent many years as a translator using traditional methods, and I’ll admit I was quite skeptical when a client first asked me to undergo training for what was then Memsource. However, that skepticism quickly turned into genuine appreciation.

What I truly like about the Phrase Localization Platform today is how it has evolved far beyond a basic CAT tool into a comprehensive, intuitive ecosystem. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Phrase?

While it is difficult to find major flaws in a tool that aligns so well with a translator’s daily needs, there is one area where the user experience could be further polished:

Session Management & Cross-Browser Persistence

One area for improvement would be the ability to switch between different browsers or windows more seamlessly without being prompted to log in constantly.

The Issue: For professionals who multitask across different browser environments or need to refresh sessions frequently, the repetitive login requirement can interrupt a focused "deep work" flow.

The Solution: Implementing more robust persistent sessions or a streamlined Single Sign-On (SSO) experience would be a major time-saver.

Aside from this minor technical friction, the platform remains an industry benchmark. It truly anticipates the functional needs of the linguist, and refining these small administrative hurdles would make the user experience virtually flawless. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Beth Anderson of Phrase

Thank you so much for this wonderful review and for trusting Phrase since the Memsource days! It's great to hear how far we've come together. Your point about session management and cross-browser persistence is really valuable feedback, uninterrupted deep work matters. We've noted this and will make sure it reaches the right team. Reviews like yours inspire us to keep raising the bar!

"Effortless Translation Management, Some QA Hurdles"
5/5
What do you like best about Phrase?

I like that I don't have to use external resources because Phrase contains a good spellchecker, termbase, and CAT tool. It makes it easy to manage the whole project in one place and keep the translation consistent and accurate. The initial setup was very easy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Phrase?

The QA section often lists a large number of false positives which cannot always be resolved. It is very lengthy and takes a long time when handling longer files and sometimes won't let me complete the 'Completed' stage. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Beth Anderson of Phrase

Thanks for leaving a review! It's great you find the spellchecker, termbase and CAT tool good and projects are easy to manage in one place. We appreciate your feedback on timely longer files and sometimes errors in trying to complete stages - these are helpful insights to where we can improve.

"Reliable, scalable localization platform that keeps improving"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Phrase?

Phrase continues to provide a smooth and efficient localization workflow. The platform's UI is intuitive and well organized, which makes onboarding new linguists quick and reduces context switching during large projects. Project management is significantly easier when handling multiple jobs and languages simultaneously, since being able to set up templates, reuse translation memories, and monitor progress in real time saves me several hours each week. The in context editor and side by side segment view help maintain quality, and the collaborative features (comments, shared TMs, and role based access) make working with external vendors much smoother. Performance has also been very reliable: pages load quickly even on large files, and I rarely run into downtime. An unexpected benefit has been how well the platform scales, since what started as a small content set has grown considerably, and Phrase has kept up without any noticeable slowdown. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Phrase?

While the platform has improved noticeably over time, there are still a few pain points. Occasional connection issues can interrupt the editor mid session, and on rare occasions unsaved work has been lost between segments. Stronger autosave intervals and clearer session recovery prompts would make this much less stressful. The integrations panel could also be smoother: setting up some connectors (especially with newer CMS platforms) takes more trial and error than it should, and clearer step by step guidance or in app validation would help. Finally, advanced reporting and analytics could go deeper. Exporting custom views and getting more granular cost per language or vendor performance breakdowns would make budgeting and ROI reviews easier. None of these are blockers, but addressing them would meaningfully improve the day to day experience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Brittany Nelson of Phrase

Thanks for your review, Soumaya! Happy to hear things are faster and more efficient for you with Memsource.

"Overall, it’s one of the most flexible CAT tools I worked with"
5/5
What do you like best about Phrase?

I like how easy it is to use and navigate the working environment. I find the editor and TMS efficient in completing my tasks as a linguist and PM in your everyday work. Furthermore, I also like the number of features and the UI is clean and light. Especially, that developers are constantly updating the tool with users' feedback in mind. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Phrase?

Sometimes I experienced minor glitches and after updates some UI elements don't work properly. I'd love to see more filtering options (e.g. select custom ranges etc.) and also a redesigned approach to collaborative work for teams inside one organisation – the current commenting feature is quite limited. In addition, it'd be nice to have more flexibility when it comes to segmentation and PPTX files processing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Beth Anderson of Phrase

Thanks for sharing you find Phrase easy to use and navigate. Your suggestions around filtering options and other ideas will be passed to the team.

"User-Friendly CAT Tool with Efficient Auto-Propagation and Great Filters"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Phrase?

What I like best about Phrase is that it is very user-friendly and similar to my own CAT software, so the learning curve was very easy and I felt confident to use almost immediately. There are plenty of helpful functionalities and the filters work very well. Auto-propagation is highly efficient, saving me a lot of time. The layout is very clear and easy on the eyes. One feature I particularly appreciate is being able to filter on first repetitions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Phrase?

I would like to have a shortcut enabling me to toggle from upper to lower case and also to upper case for the first letter of a word. Another useful feature would be to copy numbers with localization conversion. This would save me a lot of time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Beth Anderson of Phrase

Thanks for leaving a review, it's really great to read you find Phrase is very user-friendly and similar to my own CAT software, so learning the platform was easier as understandably new software can sometimes be tricky. Thanks for your suggestions on ways to improve/what you'd like to see in future releases, this helps us to know what users are looking for to help them with their work.

It's also brilliant that so many of your clients have adopted Phrase too which helps you to save time.

"Intuitive Complex Functions, But Improvement in Prices Needed"
4/5
What do you like best about Phrase?

I like the intuitive use of complex functions in Phrase Localization Platform. I can split a file and assign it to multiple people for translation, as well as assign different roles such as translation, review, and final control. The platform also allows effective management of the translation memory and terminology database, ensuring cohesion of the final text without formatting issues. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Phrase?

I don't like price increases. Every year they raise it or create new plans to remove features if one chooses to pay more or less the same. Also, it would be good to have a price based on geographic location because Latin America is not the same as Europe. I would also explore integration with Google Drive but I don't know if it's still available with my plan and generally the other tools I use are not integrated. "Efficient Multilingual Documentation with Minor Manual Tweaks"
5/5
What do you like best about Phrase?

I like that the Phrase Localization Platform is cloud-based, which makes it easy and quick for everyone to access, especially when changing laptops or onboarding new employees. It's fairly intuitive and allows us to filter specifically for new phrases that need to be translated. Overall, it provides us with all we need. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Phrase?

The tagging, our variables are sometimes a bit awkward and need to be manually added. There is a manual option for doing it, so it's not the end of the world. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Beth Anderson of Phrase

Thanks for leaving a review! It's great to hear you love the translation memory capabilities Phrase offers and that this combined with the machine learning suggestions are saving you time. Glad you found a solution to the tag issue you were initially finding too.

"User friendly, simple UI workspace"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Phrase?

I felt the editor is faster. I like the new filtering options and UI which is user friendly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Phrase?

Not dislike but would like to have:

1) When doing QA, there should be a “Select all to ignore” option. I visually scan the QA results, fix the issues that actually need correcting, and then I need a one-click way to ignore all the false QA flags so I can finish the project quickly. Right now, on some projects I have to ignore them one by one manually before I can complete the job, and that can be very time-consuming.

2) Also, having a one-click “Auto-Insert-Tags” button (or a shortcut) would be awesome.

3) When viewing the fuzzy matches, a "tracked-changes view" of what is different would be very useful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Beth Anderson of Phrase

Thank you for such a positive review! It's great to hear the editor feels faster and that the new filtering options and UI are making your work more pleasant. We're especially glad the TM remains easy to use. We've also noted your feature suggestions around QA and fuzzy matches and will pass them on to our product team. We appreciate your support!
