The DeepL engine is being removed from the platform (I do not know if this is good or bad yet.) NextMT appeared on the platform but I do not use it (I use Google engine), so I have no experience with it. Other than that, there weren't many new things in the system for me. **What do you dislike about Phrase Localization Platform?** The DeepL engine is being removed from the platform. We have lots of MT segments and the system is often unable to pull in the desired terms from the termbase list, so they must be manually click and insert into the target language field. (At the first time we thought that the engineers did not attach the termbase excel at all.) In the Q&A section more functions had disappeared which could be a good thing, but I do not have enough experience with that yet. **What problems is Phrase Localization Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?** Large files can be translated much faster, making my work easier. In addition, importing an Excel file as a TB is incredibly easy. Great for every single translator! **What do you dislike about Phrase Localization Platform?** QA running time is longer than that of other CAT tools, in particular, memoQ. When the TB was huge, the QA check took more than 30 minutes. **Recommendations to others considering Phrase Localization Platform:** I have recommended Memsource to other translators already. Since you can start a free plan (Personal edition) and also free-trial, I feel easy to recommend Memsource to others. In addition, Memsource is very simple and user-friendly, everyone can learn the basic just in 30 minutes or so. **What problems is Phrase Localization Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?** Until I started Memsource, I had to type a lot of words manually. Thanks to Memsource, which suggests words the instant I start to type, I now don't have to do it: I simply choose one of the suggested words, which relieves my stress. As always, human supervision is needed, especially when working when sensitive content (as is my case). There is one feature that Phrase offers that, in my experience, is not very common: creating a term base for letting translators which word NOT to use. This saves time and effort, as translators have fewer, more accurate choices. **What do you dislike about Phrase Localization Platform?** Unfortunately, in some of my recent projects, an error message appeared when I tried to confirm segments and save my progress. Not all the progress I had made was lost, but confirmed segments are used to track progress. Therefore, the rest of the team was unable to tell how much work I had actually completed. In the job overview, I can see which jobs are new, started on, or completed. The editing view, where I add my translations, is also very nice. When I have a phrase that is very similar to an old one, Phrase gives me the translation of the older, similar phrase and shows me exactly where the two phrases differ. It's also easy to work with Term Banks and add terms when needed. I also like that I can work online or on desktop, I prefer the latter for bigger jobs. **What do you dislike about Phrase Localization Platform?** If there is something to complain about, then it's the fact that Phrase doesn't necessarily recognize conjugated forms of terms. If I am supposed to use a term, and I actually use it, but in a conjugated form to fit Swedish grammar, Phrase will complain that I haven't used the term. **What problems is Phrase Localization Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?** One thing that I like is that when a word is in the Term Bank, I don't need to type the entire word. If I just start with the first letter, it will suggest for me to type the term by a shortcut. It cuts down the constant back-and-forth of emails and spreadsheets with automated triggers, and the In-Context Editor plus real-time Glossaries mean I don’t have to guess how a string will look or worry about inconsistent terminology across different files. The platform noticeably improves my day-to-day throughput because I can spend my time refining nuance instead of rebuilding work from scratch, helped by efficient machine translation and a translation memory that keeps track of recurring phrases. It also handles complex file formats like .json smoothly, protecting the underlying code while I focus on the language, and the built-in QA tools automatically flag formatting or tag errors before I hit submit. ### 6. When setting up projects, the step by step format is very helpful, as you cannot forget about anything when creating the jobs and assigning them. The content hub has a lot of insightful and helpful information in case you have doubts. Phrase has been optimizing the use of AI, but it's not forcing it on you if you don't feel like using it, so that's also great. Their customer support service remains being as quick and helpful as always. **What do you dislike about Phrase Localization Platform?** Not really, I find it very useful. What I like? I love that I can accept the project under Phrase Web, download the joined file and then continue ONLINE under Phrase Desktop with all settings. This is very useful for me as a professional translator. Phrase Desktop features and pros: - Very easy UI and layout - Powerful tool - very light and fast, I can use it even on my ultrabook - Processing e.g. 120 k word project with MTPE is very fast, scrolling works brilliant, filtering out segments works like a hurricane, almost at no time! I love compatibility with RWS Trados Studio 2024, memoQ and other CATs **What do you dislike about Phrase Localization Platform?** I do not like the file limit when I accept projects with more that 600-700 files. Another problem is terminology management - at my work, I am focused on optimization and I use customized glossaries with terminology. The feature for adding new terms requires me to use the schortcut twice and then to click required option. This does not streamline my process. Now I use the maintenance version of Phrase Desktop - 26.2.1. I am very disappointed that this desktop tool will be no longer developed. Please reconsider further develepment, indeed! It uses AI to make translations faster, which is really helpful for speeding up the process. We use the Phrase language AI quite a bit. We also use Phrase strings and Phrase TMS, and I almost use all the features. I'm happy with them. The initial setup was quite intuitive although it took me some time, I always found what I needed and it wasn’t so difficult. It's user-friendly and straightforward. **What do you dislike about Phrase Localization Platform?** Well, the pricing model is a little bit strict. Because you pay for the AI units. You pay for a number of strings or keys that are like, hung up in Phrase. So this is something that could mean the price will go really up. What I still appreciate is how approachable and intuitive it feels compared to many traditional CAT tools, but the platform has also become much more polished and feature-rich over time. One of my biggest wishes was native desktop support for Mac users, and Phrase actually delivered that. The CAT Desktop Editor is now available for both macOS and Windows, which made the platform feel much more professional and comfortable to use for translators who prefer dedicated desktop software over browser-only workflows. I also like that the interface has become cleaner and more organized. The workflows, dashboards, and project management tools now feel more modern and visually refined than before, while still keeping the simplicity that originally drew me to the platform. Another noticeable improvement is the stronger integration of AI and automation features. Phrase now feels less like a simple CAT tool and more like a complete localization ecosystem, especially with machine translation, workflow automation, and reporting tools becoming much more advanced. **What do you dislike about Phrase Localization Platform?** Even though the platform has improved significantly, I still think there is room to make the desktop experience more central to the product. Ironically, after finally introducing a dedicated CAT desktop editor, Phrase announced that the desktop application will move into maintenance mode, with no major future feature development planned. The browser version works very well, but many translators – especially power users – still prefer fully native desktop workflows with deeper shortcut customization, faster responsiveness, and tighter operating system integration. I also think the interface could still become more visually distinctive and customizable. While it is cleaner now than it used to be, some areas still feel very utilitarian and enterprise-focused rather than optimized for long daily translation sessions. Finally, as Phrase keeps adding AI and automation features, I hope the platform continues balancing innovation with usability. One of its greatest strengths has always been how unintimidating it feels for newcomers, and it would be a shame if the interface eventually became overloaded with advanced enterprise functionality. **What problems is Phrase Localization Platform solving and how is that benefiting you?** It's helping me to streamline my workflow and make the most of my time.
