  ### 1. Excellent Time Tracking and Solid Project Management for Small Teams

**What do you like best about Paymo?**

Paymo does a fantastic job first and foremost at tracking time and tasks across clients and projects.   The desktop timer is best in class and makes it very easy to add an ad-hoc task or select from existing tasks (including a quick way to select recently tracked tasks as often those are used most).   With the time tracking setup, it is very easy to bill only unbilled time and expenses (tracked in Paymo) for each client in a fast and efficient way and even push those invoices into Quickbooks Online.   These features are what drew me into Paymo when I started using Paymo more than 9 years ago as I began my freelancer career.

In addition to the fantastic time tracking and invoices, Paymo does a solid job on basic project management.  I was able to grow into these features as I went from freelance to having a small agency team.  Paymo's tools are intuitive mostly and make growing into the system very easy.   Using a traditional client / project / task relationship, makes onboarding easy and efficient compared to some PM software that requires more setup due to being able to PM for everything, not just client relationships / standard agency use like ours and trying to offer more powerful flexibility than Paymo.   

The Kanban board view is great with custom workflow statuses and having a dedicated view for my tasks vs the team's tasks makes things easy to swap back in forth between my PM hat and other work.  Priority and due date options make it easy to prioritize things as needed.  Also the quick budget estimate reminder notification is a nice way to prevent overages on task time or project costs without having to do much.  Lastly, the recurring tasks is a nice feature for monthly maintenance we do for clients.   

A cool feature is live, dynamic reports that can be shared as static links to clients so if a client is every worried about hours, the client can click the link at anytime and see where they stand in terms of hours.  Likewise, we use this function to bill for contractors' time.

Lastly, Paymo is very affordable and we can easily add contractors as needed without a large overhead.  We can pay month to month without any long term contract.  It has never gone down and support has always been fantastic.  The value we have gotten out of it over the years is top notch and we have no regrets.  It has tremendous value if it meets you or your company's needs.

**What do you dislike about Paymo?**

While Paymo makes things for easy for Project Management with its basic client / project relationships, this does make it less flexible for say internal projects or as CRM.   Since every project must be assigned to a client, you have to make a faux client for use internally.   Likewise, while you can create custom Kanban workflows (say for a sales pipeline), the Kanban view is not easy to ready as it shows all of your workflows on one screen, ie.  I see our dev workflow followed by our CRM workflow below it and its just too much information to be useful. 

Additionally, Google Drive integration is great, but it always asks us to verify permissions over and over each time we add new files to a task.   This only takes 2 extra clicks, but gets tiresome and keeps us from using Drive within Paymo.  Luckily, Paymo is generous with space on uploading files directly to their system so it was a huge deal over the years.

Another area we struggled with as projects grew is having a good financial view of whats going on with projects at a quick glance in the project itself while the project is in execution.   While Paymo tracks each user's cost vs your rate to clients (so it can determine project profit theoretically), it doesn't present this in an easy way.  It is buried far into reports which while can be emailed, doesn't put it front and center as you work through a project.  For example, some PM software has bar graphs within the project so you can see your expected profile vs actual profit based on hours worked, same with time, etc.  To be fair to Paymo, very few of the cheaper PM options out there have this capability.   

A few more things we had a hard time with on the PM as our team grew above 5 people.   First off, there is not an easy way to convert an email into a task.  Some systems use a team inbox alias so something like support@example.com would create a task when emailed or others have Gmail add-ons for converting emails to tasks.  While other PM software actually puts your own inbox in the PM software itself to convert emails to asks.    This is important to have for efficiency and less errors.   In addition, Paymo's lack of a client portal has left us to organize things more or less from email with clients compared to some other PM software.  Also task dependencies can be set using their Gantt chart, but not within Kanban or actual tasks preventing users from starting a task when they shouldn't, etc.   Lastly, Paymo is one of the only small PM software choices with resource allocation planning for users, but we could never get this to work with the ghost booking.  It just never seemed intuitive to us.

**Recommendations to others considering Paymo:**

I recommend Paymo to freelancers and small teams who need a fast, efficient and easy to learn project management, time tracking and invoicing system.   It is ideal for agencies and businesses who track hours and bill accordingly as this is still where Paymo really shines above the rest.  If you are working on complex, large projects, keep in mind that it does have add-on features like the Gantt chart option, but the financial views we found to be limited within the project views themselves.   If you are okay with using reports though, you can probably get what you need.   Also keep in mind that Paymo is not built for use as CRM or managing projects outside of traditional client / project relationships like some other PM software is.

**What problems is Paymo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Paymo does a fantastic job at making sure you can tracking projects, tasks for clients and then bill the correct amount to clients.  It is ideal for hourly work in our opinion.    It has allowed our company to see a bird's eyeview of everything we need to be doing and when.   It has become an essential part of our business, the most important software we use.

**What do you like best about Paymo?**

I use Paymo to manage: time, tasks, projects, clients, create time reports, look at my week/month/year statistics. It works great with RTL language.
During the day I use a desktop app timer, that counts time spent for all my tasks. 
When I work outside the office I use a mobile app. 
Everything is completely synchronized, thus I never loose time.

**What do you dislike about Paymo?**

Paymo has important features I could find useful for me like the Gantt Chart, but for extra money. 
I prefer not to pay since I don't find it necessary right now.

**What problems is Paymo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Since I started to use Paymo, it helps me see improvements in my management. I can see it through time reports, where I see time spent for each task. I can see it by most paying client who I can give more attention, gifts. 
I don't worry if I've forgotten to assign a time for some time, because I can simply include it by the end of the day, and when it's time to send the report to my client and receive payment.

**What do you like best about Paymo?**

Paymo works well for our small business. It is reliable, easy to use and produces great reports and invoices. It makes time tracking a breeze and our detailed time reports means clients know exactly what we are billing for.

**What do you dislike about Paymo?**

In general, you do have to be disciplined to remember to "clock in" and "clock out" if you want to keep accurate records. But they make it quite easy (we use Macs for all our work). Monthly billing could be more automated -- but that's more of a wish than a dislike.

**Recommendations to others considering Paymo:**

I highly recommend Paymo as a standalone time tracking, reporting and invoicing system. If you need something that integrates with other systems, then, as expected, you should make sure Paymo meets your integration needs.

**What problems is Paymo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We bill by the hour (actually by the minute). Paymo makes it frictionless to enter our time as we do tasks throughout the day. The benefit is that when it is time to bill clients, there's no argument about how we spent our time -- it's all there for them to see. And we don't miss those "a few minutes here, a few minutes there" kind of tasks that can really add up over a month.

**What do you like best about Paymo?**

Paymo manages to be fully featured and yet simple to use. It has also steadily evolved since the early days and I never have to worry that it's going to simply disappear on me one day. The support team is responsive and knowledgeable and their feature set perfectly meets my time tracking needs.

**What do you dislike about Paymo?**

I wish there was a more robust reporting option for income and invoicing. Right now I don't use the invoicing feature at all because I find it's too clunky.

**What problems is Paymo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Paymo for tracking my time spent on various web design projects. I love that I can use it on multiple computers, that it just seamlessly tallies up everything I do and provides great stats to help me understand where my time is going. The desktop app has the invaluable "idle stop" feature, so that it notices if you wander off and forget to turn the timer off first. I just can't say enough good things about this service.

Excellent Time tracking facilities, Project Management features & Quickbooks integration.

No current external user access for projects.  Mobile app whilst excellent could do with a little more functionality to bring it inline with the website experience, but as a simple time tracking application works flawlessly.

**Recommendations to others considering Paymo:**

Take the trial and see what you think, but I was very impressed from day one, and havent found anything for my needs that was as well thought out & simple to use.

**What problems is Paymo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was looking for a solution like Paymo for a very long time.  Prior to this I was using at least 3 services for project managment, time tracking & invoicing.  Paymo's app, interface & the way it all integrates into one product is perfect for myself as a freelance Graphic Designer.  I also use Quickbooks for invoicing and Paymo's integration with that is as seamless as can be.

Support has been outstanding.  The one remaining feature I am in need of is being able to grant external access for clients to view project progress/deliver links to proofs.  I contacted support early on and was advised this feature is coming.  In the few short months I have used Paymo there have already been several updates to the interface that have streamlined the experience further.

Invaluable tool for me right now and couldn't recommend it enough.

**What do you like best about Paymo?**

Easy invoicing, ability to track time, manage team, manage projects. Everything it has been thought through and it's connected. It feels like an ecosystem when you're using the platform. The design is very intuitive and I love the continuity. Here and there I think it could have been made more modern, but it is nothing to complain about honestly.

**What do you dislike about Paymo?**

It doesn't have native MacOS and iPhone Application, except for the ones that track the time, but they are a pain in the ass to use and I never use them. Very bad UX, and VERY limited functionality. Also, I would love to have more features for the financial department. Right now, the platform is a little limited compared to other systems who are specialized in bookkeeping.

**Recommendations to others considering Paymo:**

Hire more people, advance faster. I'm with you for almost 3 years now, and I could see many stages of improvement along the way. You're doing the right things and you are on the right path, but it takes a long time, and I know as a fact that in this line of service if you don't move fast enough, someone else will...

**What problems is Paymo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It's the place where I'm keeping all the subscriptions from my clients. I also add tasks for our developers to do and invoicing plays a big role, and I hope it will receive new features in the future. All in all I think is the main platform that we run our company with and without it we couldn't.

**What do you like best about Paymo?**

Paymo has the perfect amount of complexity for us.  Not too much, not too little... it's just right.  I love that I can assign projects and then view my resource allocation in the Team Scheduler.  I also love that I can easily see the exact status of all our projects  (by project lead or any number of things) and then drill into each project, each task, and as much detail as I'd like.  I also like that, as a manager, I can use Paymo during my one on one meetings so that I can coach my team members effectively.

**What do you dislike about Paymo?**

There is very little to dislike, but if I were nitpicking, there are only two user types... Admins and Users.  Sometimes we need a bit more visibility for our managers but not so much visibility that they are admins.  But, there are workarounds and for the price, Paymo is amazing.

**Recommendations to others considering Paymo:**

I recommend Paymo to everyone who asks. As a services/consulting company it has everything that we need... and if you happen to find something it doesn't have, you can use the API or Zapier to integrate with other functionality without having to pay any additional money.

**What problems is Paymo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Initially, we used Paymo for timekeeping but it morphed into our full project management system and our project resource allocation platform.  Paymo has helped us track every aspect of our project efficiencies including saving us thousands of dollars on projects where we had underestimated the time that it was taking to complete fixed-price contracts.

Simple invoicing, time monitoring functionality, team management, and project management. All that was thought about and it is linked. When you're accessing the app it sounds like an ecosystem. The style is really intuitive and consistency is what I enjoy. I suppose it should have been rendered more functional here and there, but really there is little to worry about.

**What do you dislike about Paymo?**

It seemed to been the screen that would show as far times I would been working this weeks and their ripped it down so there is no way to fix it. There are therefore several apps that are much more significant.

Paymo is a tool that now has empowered us to carry out big tasks with total satisfaction and fulfillment, because the program enables us to do a decent coaching, function in a coordinated way but most of all aligned with the members of the team, the technology has done an excellent job in our business but that is for this purpose that we believe quite in the benefits provider by paymo.

Windows, Mac, Android and SaaS are among the options for using Paymo thanks to its implementations. Paymo is very intuitive, so that the time of realization of the project decreases but maintaining the quality of the project. You can make invoices in any sector such as advertising or marketing agencies. It has a great time tracking both in the desktop version and in the mobile application. It has a great variety of formats available to be able to export any type of document

There are functions that are not available unless an additional payment is made, such as billing and Gantt Chart. Integrations on devices like iPad are missing. Preferences saved by each user are reset each time you update

**Recommendations to others considering Paymo:**

The software has specific features for its optimal functionality, but it could still have more functions like live chat and video chat. There are features that are not yet updated at the same time as the others, they could perform a global update. I would like my interface to remain the same as I modified it each time there is an update

Many steps such as portfolios and budgets have been used, which has provided the team with an adequate balance of the values obtained by the company. Project planning and time recording are among the activities that our workers were able to learn from the web-based help guides. I've been using this product since 2016 and did so in several ways. Every time an update is implemented it's surprises me on it's effectiveness. It just keeps running smoother and smoother. Besides that the tools in the app are nicely designed an clearly structured i like the (multiple) supporting apps to track time very useful.  Also nicely integrated with other apps through API. It's just a great product.

**What do you dislike about Paymo?**

None really... I'm finding more and more ways to implement other workflows in there. My Getting things done method and trello (kanban) are easy to implement. Maybe a notetaking system to implement Zettelkasten (knowledgebase) in there aswell.

**What do you like best about Paymo?**

Very reasonably-priced time-tracking and invoicing with enough flexibility to have multiple jobs/clients within one client company.

**What do you dislike about Paymo?**

That there isn't an option for tallying all time for each project within a day and rounding up to the nearest quarter/15 minutes. The actual time that I work is less important than how much I work. I jump around a lot -- stopping work on one project to quickly take care of something else, then returning to the original project. At the end of the month, I manually add the time spent on each client each day and round up. For instance, I might work 3 minutes on one client, then 20 on another, then 35 on the first client. I will later have to manually add 35 + 3 and round up to 45.

**What problems is Paymo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I used to keep time with one program, then connect to another to create invoices. I had to log-in to the invoice tool for every single invoice (not every session). Details weren't included, default settings were not used. It took 3 times longer to invoice than it does with Paymo.

**What do you like best about Paymo?**

The project management is excellent in the program, it has a very useful resource management to complete the information provided by the budget management. You can learn more about the workers and their work, thanks to the invoice generators. With Paymo you can organize projects and time tracking is an ideal complement for an optimal job. The price is affordable for most businesses

**What do you dislike about Paymo?**

The program lacks options that can be important for the performance of the team's work, it contains neither traditional methods nor agile methodologies in project management. The IOS configuration is a bit outdated compared to the web application

**Recommendations to others considering Paymo:**

You can add more integrations to the program, for example Xero. The application for the mobile device is not very complete, so you should put more features, and also note that your timer does not synchronize correctly with the browser timer

**What problems is Paymo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

With the application we have been able to notice the unbilled time and it has served us well, so we have improved the work because we can apply a budget and mark their elements, whether billable or not. It is very easy to add a work statement as a project. The integration with Payoneer has helped us with payments and invoices

**What do you like best about Paymo?**

The widget almost never stops working, even if my internet cuts out, and when it does (which is not even once a month, and I use Paymo practically every day of the week), it is easy to restart or log off and on again to fix.

**What do you dislike about Paymo?**

It used to be the widget would indicate how many hours I had worked this week and they took that away and there's no way to restore it. However, there are a lot of far more important features.

Keeping track of my time and how much has accumulated. When I had a virtual assistant, I could set up a report for her and it was easy for her to create bills with it.

**What do you like best about Paymo?**

Paymo's time tracking was able to be seamlessly integrated into our current designer workflow. This allowed us to calculate the actual time spent on the job so clients understand where their money is being spent. It also allows us to identify where we need to increase project costs (9/10 times it's with 'customer correspondence'). It's a massive time saver for account managers and our accounting teams.

We've been able to do better account reporting and have saved nearly 4 weeks every year on project management tasks thanks to this one app.

**What do you dislike about Paymo?**

The biggest challenge for us was the learning curve and getting acclimated with the software. That's not even the fault of Paymo as much as it was for us getting all of our different groups integrated and accustomed to the new platform. Now that everything is set, our dislikes are very few. Things like being able to regularly duplicate projects were things that initially had been a problem but we've now solved a lot of those issues with the Zapier integration. 

I'd say our biggest issue in our years with Paymo was when they started charging for functionality like Gant Charts. We've always loved the complete 'soup-to-nuts' service that Paymo offered so when certain items were put behind another paywall it definitely stung a bit. In the end, we didn't even need to use those features which is why I'm saying that our team has had very little issue with Paymo over the years.

In a word: "many". I've mentioned time tracking but Paymo also does project management, client management, invoicing, estimation, Zapier integration, scheduling, team tasking...and the list goes on and on. As for benefits, one of the best things we've added has cut 30 minutes off every project  (nearly 4 weeks a year).  When a new project comes in, the account manager creates a folder in Google Drive. That action triggers a Zap that sets up the project in Paymo and assigns appropriate tasks depending on what folder it was created in. Team members are also assigned and a new Trello board is created and shared.  The entire project is effectively set up with the creation of ONE folder in Google Drive which satisfies accounting, design, web development, and both team/account management.

I love that Paymo doesn't just solve the issue of project management. It offers so much more relevant functionality that other productivity and project management apps don't offer. 

As a freelancer I can estimate straight from the app, bill directly from time sheets and automatically chase payments which has saved me countless hours of administration. 

I love that it has a desktop timer that I can easily switch between jobs on. I can see my monthly productivity and billings at a glance and keep my projects on budget. It is one of the easiest productivity apps I have ever had to learn. The interface is visually pleasing and beautifully simple and intuitive and they are always improving on it, which I love. To top it off, the customer service is fantastic and they actively try to accommodate user needs by offering forums where new app tools can be suggested and upvoted for implementation. 

I have tried all the other major apps (Asana, Monday, trello etc) and all had a steep learning curve, tons of superfluous (to me) functions and Paymo was the only one that had just what I wanted. Nothing more, nothing less.

I have been a Paymo user for over a year now and there is honestly nothing about it that I dislike. I look forward to seeing even more functionality in the future and will continue to enthusiastically recommend it to others.

The best part of Paymo, at the moment, is the fact the user interface is really easy to work with. Our onboarding process is quite simple due to that. We can just assign projects to a team and the only thing we need to think about is generating the reports for the invoicing to clients (we invoice outside of Paymo). Although it's possible to also use Paymo for planning and invoicing, we primarily use it for registration of worked time on projects.
We like the reports, and for clients, it's pretty easy to understand.
Furthermore, this support is pretty fast most of the time. So that too is a giant plus.

**What do you dislike about Paymo?**

It doesn't match our workflow 100%, nor is it possible to do that. So we have to manually generate the reports after checking the booked time by our team.
Furthermore, assigning 1 task to multiple people isn't possible in the time allocation tool, but since we don't use that, it's not a big deal for us.

And I love Paymo's Accounting tab also. Invoicing, expense input, estimates, and even recurring invoicing has never been simpler. It's very easy to use and is scalable. For example, I run a solo business and need faithful time-tracking, invoicing, estimates and a way to keep track of expenses - Paymo makes it easy to do all these tasks. It also allows me to run time reports and alerts me when a project is approaching max hours allotted. These are the functions I use the most (daily), but if I ever need access to Gant charts, I can always upgrade.

Paymo is really a great application. I was not convinced to work with Asana or Trello to manage my personal work flow. With Paymo, I found everything I needed: a CSM to manage my leads and my clients, a to do list to put my tasks in order, a project manager to take notes during my discussions with customers. In addition, I was able to link Paymo to Quickbook to transform my quotes into an invoice. Now, I track all of my time to find out exactly how much time I spend on my customer contracts and my personal business.

The timer is definitely the best, always visible, easy to use and then I can generate the invoices with the time logged. The team scheduling also brings a lot of value to the tool as we can distribute the tasks by user and by day very easily.

The lack of a client portal with all tasks, invoices and a discussion place to have an easier management of the project directly with the client.

We have been using Paymo for years, so our business has grown with them. They are constantly looking for ways to improve the experience for their customers and provide new tools to help with project management. We love how we get email updates when a comment has been made on a project, and when you click through is shows the entire conversation. We'v only just started using the scheduling section and we love it!

We love the desktop version, but the app it not as good of an experience.

- recuring invoicing
- several payment options

The way the timesheet report is displayed as well the general overview we have over our team and each ongoing job they're working on.

The timesheet report can not be filteres by tasklist only. It is quite usual that client demand a timesheet report for a specific tasklist only, instead of all tasklist in the project, and it isn´t possible to be done. So it would be nice if we get to chose what tasklist to include in the thimesheet report.

**What do you like best about Paymo?**

One of the reasons why I like this platform is the way you can customize the configuration and tracking of projects, which is surprising since it organizes the project while tracking it. The software has a very clean and intuitive interface. I also like its advanced function in which it automatically calculates how its time is used. The ability to enter the time in a weekly calendar is fantastic. Another feature that I love is that the software also has a function of adding massive time if necessary.

**What do you dislike about Paymo?**

Paymo is a good platform however it has certain limitations when using the software, the calendar time sheet entry is excellent, but it should allow drag and paste. This would make the entry time much faster. Although this is not a decisive factor, since in the end the entry is quite fast.

**Recommendations to others considering Paymo:**

Paymo is an excellent platform, which will allow you to use customizable project formats with much more optimal workflow management. Its Windows widget is fantastic, very easy to use, its integration with the online login is amazing. I recommend it for any company, it is without a doubt a highly recommended project management platform.

**What problems is Paymo solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use this platform primarily, so that the entire work team will track time. By allowing us to create individual task lists for each project, it has allowed the configuration of each of these projects exactly according to the contract. This maintains strict control over the time spent on the project and allows the monitoring of additional services that are not part of the original contract. It has really helped us organize the time and work of the employees.
