What do you like best about PaperCut?

We were looking for a Cloud Print Server and we found Papercut. It Is very simple to install and to use. We easily started preventing the misuse of the printers, we defined rules to avoid or allow 1face or 2face paper printing and also to notify the user to choose B/W instead color printing and also to block printing documenta with many many pages.

Thanks to the statistics and analytics present in the portal we manage to reduce the paper consume and to take a green certification. We use also the mobile app that can be very useful when the user has to print something quickly. During these years many features have been developed, so the project is alive. What do you dislike about PaperCut?

Some of the features are on the premium license. The network is a key point and you should have some internal node (always running machines) to be sure to print. You can rename the Printers with the location but could be useful to upload an image with the map of the office in order to choose the printer from there. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about PaperCut?

Easy to install on multiple printers.

Easy to link Windows Server AD to Papercut and bulk send printer PIN details to users.

Easy to setup and install on multiple BYODs on campus.

Excellent support directly with Papercut themselves.

I can automate monthly reports for the finance team based on their requirements for usage and billing.

Print via your phone effortlessly.

We use this daily.

Support assisted us to easily integrate this into our campus systems. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PaperCut?

As far as I know, it can't manage multiple operating system drivers for a single "click this link to install" option for a BYOD campus. However, it does work with sending out a link for Windows and Mac separately. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about PaperCut?

We have been using PaperCut for 3 years now. We migrated from AD printer management. The migration was flawless, and within weeks our printer related Tickets dropped 30%. Papercut is extremly simple to use, which means 80% of people had the ability to figure it out without too much handholding. In the 3 years, we have had 2 issues due to updates, and the PaperCut customer support was able to get us back on track within hours. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PaperCut?

I would like to see the mobility side of papercut the be merged with Papercut NG, and or have the ability to manage both from a single dashboard. Seems strange having two sperate installs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PaperCut?

It has no automatic update or upgrade of the software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Alistair Nestor of PaperCut

The auto update is an interesting point. I think it's mainly due to the complexity of some print environments that require planning outages (say, weekend hours) to upgrade, test, etc. Better safe than sorry! Thank you so much for sharing your views.

We have been using the service for many years, and the product is slick and easy to use. In the beginning, we had a few glitches, but we have had no problems for a number of years now.

What do you like best about PaperCut?

Papercut sits over the top of our Print server and integrates with our Active Directory to allow us to manage users and printers and capture the data to help us make better decisions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PaperCut?

Papercut has alot of side products and some are awesome and some need work. We wanted a Copy Center tool and PaperCut offers Job Ticketing, but this tool is way to basic in its design and function. It needs a massive overhaul. I would Not recommend Job Ticketing for a school district. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about PaperCut?

I like several things about PaperCut, the service and the company. They make setup and configuration easy compared to the previous product/service that we originally had (Pharos). Their documentaiton pages are abundant, relevent, and informative. The integration of services like PayPal and ticketing system is not hard to set up, either. And their customer support has always been willing to try to help us meet whatever goal we're pursuing in the moment with PaperCut. Our users are printing throughout the day and we see much less tickets about printing issues now than we did before Papercut wwas in our lives. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PaperCut?

While the documentation is plentiful, there are some articles that are a smidgen out of date sometimes. This happens with our own internal documentation, so I can't really fault them for that. There is one feature that I went to look for recently (contacted customer service to confirm), but found they do not have. That's in relation to the Release Stations: the "About" page will show a count for how many Release Station are in use, but there's not list of what those Release Station are. Sure, "we" set them up, but it was a set-it-and-forget-it by the technician. It would be nice to know the computer hostnames of the Release Stations, maybe linked from that about pages. I mean, the system knows the fact that there's 5 connected, but where/what are they? Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about PaperCut?

Since we started using Papercut, we have saved countless reams of paper and toner! Even though we don't charge per print, having release stations in our Student Labs has cut down drastically on over-printing and abandoned jobs causing waste. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PaperCut?

I'd like the ability to have print queues default to B&W, but still be end user changable back to color. The control seems to be all or nothing on the color vs grayscale. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
