What do you like best about Pantheon?

Their dev, test, live environment was good. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Pantheon?

If you are using woocommerce do NOT use pantheon. We launched and our site went down with 200 concurrent users. The fix? Oh yeah we have a known issue distributing your site along our architecture, try and fix it this way. Also want support? Pay $500 per month or we wont help you. 30-50 minute chat wait times are all you have. I do not recommend mission critical sites be hosted here. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"1250% price increase"
0.5/5
What do you like best about Pantheon?

2 + years as a pantheon customer and it has largely done what we needed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Pantheon?

We've recently been auto-upgraded twice in quick succession due to the number of page views we have. Their records are more than double everything we can measure and their support team has not been helpful in the slightest. Since signing our contract our pricing has increased 1250% and our page views have increased 2-3x. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Highly professional with advanced tools"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Pantheon?

I love how easy the Pantheon platform is to use for more advanced deployments. The tools are incorporated in such a way that it just works and I don't have to worry as much about issues on my live site because I've been able to throughly develop and test code changes. Automatic backups and Git integration are also second to none. The support I've received has always been top notch as well with as much handholding as I've needed to correct any issues. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Pantheon?

The price is certainly higher than most other hosts but I feel like I get a fair deal for as many tools and services that come with the platform. I would like to see Pantheon offer agency pricing for everyone. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Best-in-class Managed Wordpress Hosting"
5/5
What do you like best about Pantheon?

Not your average Wordpress hosting. Provides advanced workflows for managing sites (multidev environments, integration with github, daily backups, etc.). Hosting is reliable and fast. Amazing customer support--always available, very friendly, and the most helpful support team out there. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Pantheon?

They aren't the cheapest option. The value is definitely there for the price for many sites, but for clients looking to put up a very basic Wordpress website it's sometimes hard to sell them on the sticker, particularly if they have multiple sites. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great WordPress Managed Hosting"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Pantheon?

It makes it super easy to set up WordPress along with being able to have multiple environments to make testing super easy. I also like the requirement to actually commit code to install a plugin which requires a little more knowledge and adds a little barrier to add code to the site that is not custom-built for the site. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Pantheon?

The quality of support has gone down a little over the past year. There is still a fair amount of help it just seems like Pantheon has been going through a growth spurt and I've been through this with other similar companies in the past hopefully it will pass and everything will get better. Pantheon is still a good choice. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Pantheon is my favorite hosting platform for client WordPress sites"
5/5
What do you like best about Pantheon?

The Pantheon dashboard is exceptionally user-friendly compared to other hosts. They have made backup creation, branch creation, merging of code, and migration of database and files as easy as I could see it ever being. The added value of Terminus and easy use of Lando for local development makes automating simple tasks or making batch edits to sites on a network a breeze. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Pantheon?

My main issues with Pantheon have been in migrating existing client sites from other hosts. The migration process itself is easy, but due to Pantheon's considerations and limitations of the network, many client sites come with plugins that assume write access or have other conflicts with the platform and either need work arounds or entirely new solutions. The innability to make changes to the server configuration is also a bit frustrating, but understandable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great Overall Experience"
5/5
What do you like best about Pantheon?

I love the workflow with Pantheon. The user interface is very straightforward and easy to use for both developers and clients. There is great user support documentation that helps and their customer service is great for answering questions timely. The multi-dev environments make it great to do continuous work on. The fact that the live environment is locked from direct changes is also nice for staying up to date with code where clients also maintain their site. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Pantheon?

Pantheon can be an expensive platform to use, but it comes with many good security benefits for the price. It may not be the best option for smaller businesses or websites because of the hosting costs. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Pantheon works great for hosting and website management"
5/5
What do you like best about Pantheon?

Pantheon goes above and beyond standard web hosting tools. They provide editing tools that give multiple editors a more efficient means for making shared edits. We can assign various roles to users and set a clear path for edit approvals. I like Pantheon's staging tools. They allow us to experiment with design and functional website changes without publishing live pages. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Pantheon?

Pantheon is more expensive than common shared hosting plans. Using the Pantheon environment can be confusing for new users or for clients that want to check out and get directly involved with the editing process. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Started out as a boon for noobs and small business, mutated into an Enterprise level tool"
3/5
What do you like best about Pantheon?

I love the DevOps tools and the Documentation feature. It teaches you how to get into the nuts & bolts of web development.

If you're an enterprise-level org and you want to treat your WebDev to a good time, get Pantheon.

The free sandbox is great for drafting sites and learning how to manage them.

When you learn how the DevOps tools work, you realize how powerful the platform can be. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Pantheon?

The pricing.

We have been bumped up to a ridiculously expensive tier because of our site traffic even though we're a small organization. Extremely difficult to justify the cost come budget season.

The support.

It's a lot like a therapist. They will walk you through the process of solving your issue instead of... solving it. They're pretty hands-off on helping you get your site up after your code goes out of date. When you have analytical folks breathing down your neck due to a 504 error on a page, you need a fix, not a tutorial.

The (lack of) Onboarding

I've never used New Relic before. So imagine my confusion when trying to figure out if my site has any PHP issues. What's a Redis? Let's google/check the documentation on this instead of working.

Mission/Scope Creep.

Pantheon was marketed to us by our site-builder and it looked like we were in a perfect tier with the right features. With time, that niche got consumed into the enterprise ("Organization") tier and many of the features I anticipated got subsumed into a premium service. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
