The Necto formula feature is very useful, but with moderate sized data, the Necto server will time out with the most basic formulas. I would like to use exception highlighting for example, but I know it won't work with my data. The goal is to get some load off the IT and BI development team and provide the end-users with the tool for self service BI. We have been evaluating a couple of the solutions present on the market and Necto has caught our attentions because of some great innovative features. We were thrilled with the capability to collaborate with other users utilizing social features such as the ability to subscribe to users, initiate context-based discussions and search for users and relevant content within the system. Also, Necto will automatically identify exception in your data, such as drops in revenue, lack of inventory etc. and offer automated insights and potential root causes. A user can define a threshold to determine when a data point is considered an exception and an exclamation mark or other warning symbol will appear in cell when the data falls within this definition. One of the features that is expected for tools of this kind, but is very basic in some of the products, is the ability to extract the data from multiple sources. It is available in Necto and it offers a wide range of data sources such as Microsoft SQL Server, OLAP cubes, Oracle, Teradata, Salesforce etc and add data from Excel spreadsheets and flat files as well. Infographics are a great and unique feature. For me, they are a new, enhanced version of KPIs. Users can create their own infographics or choose from the existing. Support for mobile devices is very good and it allows the same look and feel in all devices (desktop, laptop, tablet, mobile phone) which is great for the companies that have users who travel a lot and are often in the field. **What do you dislike about Panorama Necto?** Not compatible with Macs and not supported for Blackberry. Does not support multiple languages. Needs more support for predictive and forecast analysis. I am basically a data visualization expert and recently got introduced Necto-15. It is real amazing to see such a collaborative self-service BI tool hosted over web which caters to almost all requirements and expectations one can have pertaining to quick data visualization. I have had the opportunity to work with multiple data visualization tools but Necto-15 experience is entirely different. It has a very intuitive interface making it easier to understand how to use the interface and the best thing is that it is all drag and drop. I loved the features of managing everything including the development, over a centralized hosting platform. It was real stunning to see how this product can understand various aspects of data, can categorize data types and apply the fitting treatments on the data. Really an excel to a dashboard in a few clicks. Simply superb. The visual appeal is amazing and the dashboards really look amazing.
