"Data engineering without hiring an engineer!"
What do you like best about Panoply?
As the lead analyst on a small startup team where data is imperative to our success, Panoply has been incredible. The market for data engineers is competitive and expensive, and Panoply has enabled us to get the data from our smorgasbord of tools into one redshift warehouse without needing to go through the expensive process of hiring an in-house engineer.
What do you dislike about Panoply?
Troubleshooting issues with a data pipeline can be challenging. It's rare that I've noticed an issue with the pipeline, but the difference between working with an in-house engineer on troubleshooting (where you can sit next to them and co-diagnose) vs. an external agency is huge. Their support is usually responsive, but the turn around time is longer exclusively because the engineer doesn't sit in house.
What problems is Panoply solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Panoply as our in house data engineer. It's been huge for allowing us to be data-driven in the way that we need without spending loads of time and money looking for our own engineer.
"Time saving data warehouse with excellent customer support"
What do you like best about Panoply?
I really like the ease of use of the system. Yes I could probably conduct my own ETL process, but why when panoply does it so well? Saves me time on the data engineering so I can focus on the analysis and the communication with decision makers.
What do you dislike about Panoply?
Not much, Panoply has been very kind to me, and very helpful with their chat functionality and personal responses!
What problems is Panoply solving and how is that benefiting you?
Time! I am analyzing click through rates on a journalism website.
"Great way to use redshift like functionality for cheaper!"
What do you like best about Panoply?
The tools has the backing of aws redshift, but also lots of nice integrations to help you load your data
What do you dislike about Panoply?
a few integrations are missing, but the team is constantly adding more
Recommendations to others considering Panoply:
try it out! It is awesome!
What problems is Panoply solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using panoply to be a data lake for our company. It will allow us to get data all from the same location.
"It just works, and it's smart"
What do you like best about Panoply?
My consulting firm, Data Clymer, builds full data stacks for our clients. Panoply is the one part of the stack that always just works, and it works in a smart way. We love that UPSERT is the default functionality when we pipe in data. Takes care of a lot of potential headaches. We've had zero issues with Panoply.
What do you dislike about Panoply?
The only limitation we've hit is the ability to do more complex ETL job flows, but that is not needed for the majority of our clients.
Recommendations to others considering Panoply:
If you are looking for a simple-to-use, low-maintenance, hosted data warehouse solution that won't scale out, check out Panoply.
What problems is Panoply solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our clients want to build their own data stack to be more nimble and flexible in what they can do. To get ahead of their competitors. They want to analyze their data in myriad ways. And they don't want to administer a data warehouse. Panoply solves all of the admin headaches and gives them a performant and easy-to-use data warehouse.
"The fastest way to get red shift up and running"
What do you like best about Panoply?
Panoply's support and on-boarding was top notch, Panoply live chats and follow up zoom calls made it very easy to assess Panoply to be our growing startup's data warehouse of choice! I've been able to democratise our data in record time, and have my business users administer their own data sources which frees up my time! The data warehouse is fully managed, and so far is very performant. The number of data sources is growing which is awesome. There is a bunch of optimisations and tuning that the Panoply team do in the back ground which means our query's are fast, we went from handful of dashboards in our organisation to bucket load in days.
What do you dislike about Panoply?
Would love to see more enterprise features like 2FA, and enterprise connectivity options, it wasn't that easy to get a SSH tunnel connection setup, but there is manual work around which involved some great help from the support team.
What problems is Panoply solving and how is that benefiting you?
The main thing for me was to free up technology resources, and to let our business users loose on our data as fast as possible. Being able to rest easy knowing that the Panoply team is supporting our Red Shift instance means I can focus on other priorities like building our our platform. Panoply is great for startups who are travelling at million miles an hour.
