**Reviewed by:** Marcelo R. | Founder, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 14, 2024

**What do you like best about Palo Alto Networks IoT/OT Security?**

It makes our network secure, I like it because we know that only people with access will be able to make changes to our common tools. We use it to protect other people from accessing things like: Github repos, pushing and pulling code, Microsoft logins like Outlook fo example. And a user without access to our VPN can not run the project locally nor on dev environments. So far is good, I've never in a position where I need to call Customer Support.

**What do you dislike about Palo Alto Networks IoT/OT Security?**

In order for me to set it up on Linux Ubuntu 24.04 LTS was a pain. I would love to see a better-easier way to do it. Normally at least once a week I have to run some commands to clean credentials and redo them. This happens on Linux only. Something I hate is that as well, when I disconnect from one gateway to connect to other one or just to disconnect from the VPN, it keeps hanging, I have to toggle on/off the WiFi. This last point happens on Ubuntu and MacOS too. Also the design on Ubuntu is horrible. Basically with Linux/Ubuntu, wasn't easy for me to integrate.

**What problems is Palo Alto Networks IoT/OT Security solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use it to protect other people from accessing things like: Github repos, pushing and pulling code, Microsoft logins like Outlook fo example. And a user without access to our VPN can not run the project locally nor on dev environments. So far is good.

  ### 28. Great for integrating into a hybrid Azure Cloud and On-Prem environment

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Adam M. | Cloud Systems Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 20, 2024

**What do you like best about Palo Alto Networks IoT/OT Security?**

Prisma Cloud has it's complications when deploying into an Azure/AWS with On-Prem environment. However, the documentation and vendor support makes it straightforward. Once integrated, we can view metrics frequently on resource utilization, security metrics, anomaly detection, encryption, network speed. It's easy to integrate different features within it.

**What do you dislike about Palo Alto Networks IoT/OT Security?**

They come on custom VM images which many times gets errors within Azure with extensions not working properly, and Microsoft Azure often times doesn't offer support for custom Palo Alto imaged VMs and kind of leaves you with the wolves when things go bad.
So probably make sure you have a fool proof plan of redundant nodes for high availability, keep backups and be careful.

**What problems is Palo Alto Networks IoT/OT Security solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Azure security offers multiple options such as Microsoft Defender, Azure extensions on VMs, Sentinel with Cognitive Services AI detection.. but many times these tools don't integrate well with 3rd party tools, and Azure support many times refuses to help when using other tools.
When doing MySQL database dumps in Azure, the extensions on the VMs often overload resources, and the securtiy settings slow down production environments and it can be a big mess when dealing with sensitive data.
Often times in Azure you end up paying a lot more than you plan, and with the stubbornness nature of the Azure security tools, it can be sometimes seen as not worth it when you have tools like Palo Alto Prisma, Strata and Cortex

So Palo Alto Prisma, you can rely on Palo Alto instead for the security, and it's easier to edit, and configure and tweak to your particular environment. The documentation and community and vendor support from Palo Alto is more effective to deploy it in the way we need to fit out environment.

Benefits

1- The ease of manual effort, detention and automated classification of the various devices that may be in an infrastructure.this leads us to have better control of all devices in the company.

2- The implementation is slightly easy, because I say slightly, due to the fact that before implementing you must have a good documentation and have had a few trainings. However, it is like everything new in life, at the beginning it is complicated but after getting to know it you realize that it is much simpler than other software. So I give it a plus in this section because it is simpler than the others.

3- The facility to detect threats, as well as the prevention of them, this is of utmost importance because it will facilitate the life of administrators, as these are usually implemented at the industrial level will make them much more comfortable the management of all devices.

4-The technical support is always available at the time of any implementation. So if you have any questions, their support page has many forums and documents that can help in any situation. And if that's not enough, you can get support with a more specific case.

**What do you dislike about Palo Alto Networks IoT/OT Security?**

Disadvantages

The price, as well as the system itself, can be very excessive for small companies as well as those with limited exposure to iot.

For larger, more complex systems, significant modifications may be necessary to bring the system up to the level of the company or industry that purchases it, so these modifications can be very tedious depending on the size of the company.

**What problems is Palo Alto Networks IoT/OT Security solving and how is that benefiting you?**

For the implementation of this system we first agreed to see what were the main threats that we had in the current system, to consider if Palo Alto could be the most acceptable option.

One of them was the lack of visibility of the iot devices: We realized that with the Palo Alto solution we benefited because we now have a total view of each asset thanks to the automated detection and classification of devices. This leads to a more secure network.

Another potential threat we had was cyber-attacks and security risk: With the palo alto solution we can recognize and stop threats as they arise thanks to the automatic learning and real-time threat detection of this solution. Something extremely positive for the company

In addition to solving all of the above problems the main benefit that palo alto gave us is better security management of our entire network.
