## Oracle Siebel Reviews
  ### 1. Good fit for call centers, specialized industries, and large companies

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jason M. | Sr. Customer Loyalty Architect, Information Technology and Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 03, 2012

**What do you like best about Oracle Siebel?**

Siebel's robust data model and its platform agnostic approach at the server layer are its key strengths. Additionally, specialized functionality, such as its Loyalty Processing engine, have no equal in the market.

Recent releases are standardizing installation and deployment processes across Oracle products, allowing for sorely missed capabilities such as cloning environments.

**What do you dislike about Oracle Siebel?**

It has heavy upfront costs and requires a large investment in infrastructure, depending on the size of the organization. And until the release of Open UI, being locked into Internet Explorer 8 made it a non-starter with some user groups. About 5 years ago, Siebel's change of strategic direction has left it with outdated web services integration support, requiring a separate integration server to maximize its performance with real-time services integration.

**Recommendations to others considering Oracle Siebel:**

With the release of Open UI delivering a modern user experience on multiple platforms, Siebel is still a worthwhile consideration for companies who don't feel comfortable having customer data hosted offsite. I feel it is still best for call centers as it provides good shortcut key capabilities and CTI integration.

  ### 2. It takes time to learn but it gives a lot of functionality out of the box

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Timur F. | sr. Developer and Technical Lead, Financial Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 05, 2013

**What do you like best about Oracle Siebel?**

Comprehensive data model. Strong workflow engine. Several integration options.
With Open UI it is now not IE only product. Introduction of CRM Desktop plugin for Outlook gives nice offline capabilities without installation of additional software.

**What do you dislike about Oracle Siebel?**

Whole configurations and modifications stored in one binary file. Depends on the company polices about SDLC that could be a problem especially with regression testing. Hard to define what should be tested and what is not. Also in-app reporting is implemented by use of OBIEE Publisher and requires OBIEE instance. All marketing analytics is done via predefined set of subject areas and OLAP schema for OBIEE.

**Recommendations to others considering Oracle Siebel:**

Siebel implementation requires very extensive and detailed planning. Depends on complexity of a project it usually takes from 3-6 month to implement new application. In case of migrating legacy application which includes data loads add 1 or 2 additional months.

  ### 3. Multi platform, OOB features for Vertical & Horizontal market, Easy to customize and integrate

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** David M. | Software Development Advisor, Information Technology and Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 05, 2013

**What do you like best about Oracle Siebel?**

Different Levels of Configuration and Management, Diversity of OS and RDBMS supported, OOB features that support Small and Big Enterprises, Web based and the most important, easy to integrate with legacy solutions and migrate data.

**What do you dislike about Oracle Siebel?**

Special expertize is needed to follow the Tool Best Practices configuration, Expert Resources are hard to find, Internal Object Classes might bring issues or limit the customization.

**Recommendations to others considering Oracle Siebel:**

No package solution is 100% available to the customer or allows very detailed customizations however Oracle Siebel allows each company to drive its business customizing its OOB features to accomplish the requirement and even thought this might need a Siebel Tools developer the outcome 99% percent of the time helps the business to Manage the Customer Relationship in Detail with a stable and Friendly solution.

  ### 4. An Average database management system that requires much too manual work to maintain

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Oil & Energy | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 16, 2013

**What do you like best about Oracle Siebel?**

This system does provide large navigation tabs and logical search fields for researching accounts. Adding a new account is relatively easy and the List Management feature is great for storing leads. The marketing campaign is another great feature to help your company determine ROI of marketing strategies. Extracting data function is very simple to use.

**What do you dislike about Oracle Siebel?**

The user interface does not seem to be as updated as most other CRM systems like salesforce. Some of the features are not intuitive. In fact it can be very intimidating to first-time users. It does take some time to learn for those that are not very familiar with database systems. In my experience, I had to create many workarounds just to get 1 contract transacted. Processing times can be very extensive. This is not a very automated system. You have to put a lot of effort into manual work. It takes a while to incorporate automation. Also, for the past year I have been running into errors using the promotion feature. There seems to be an issue that my IT team is having trouble fixing. Another item to note is that there is not way of creating multiple accounts at once unless you create a batching software program to aid in this. My company had to spend time creating a an excel macro that was compatible with siebel in order to batch large lists of accounts that needed multiple updates at one time. Customized reports were somewhat difficult to generate.

**Recommendations to others considering Oracle Siebel:**

This is an average system. Sometime quotes, pricing, and contract processing can become an issue. This is not a good system to generate customized reports. You have to export the data if you want to customize. You might be better off using Access depending on your companies needs.

  ### 5. After 14 years, it's good bye Siebel

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 09, 2013

**What do you like best about Oracle Siebel?**

Business services, integration objects, web services. Long upgrades enrich consultants and contractors.

**What do you dislike about Oracle Siebel?**

Overly complex data model; long, demanding upgrades provide little incremental functionality for users. Forced migration to SIA. Clearly an end of life product.

**Recommendations to others considering Oracle Siebel:**

You really owe it to yourself to consider Salesforce. The camaraderie and openness of their cloud community blows away Oracle. Oracle's various "on demand" CRMs products are not the same as Siebel classic. In my opinion, Oracle is using a shotgun approach to CRM. But don't listen to me, listen to my former clients. Of the 10 companies I worked Siebel at, all but two have pulled it out, or significantly reduced its footprint.

  ### 6. Complex but functional

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Rich L. | Data Governance & Master Data Leader / Master Black Belt, Consumer Goods, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 02, 2012

**What do you like best about Oracle Siebel?**

Very configurable. Can implement in a semi-agile format so that the whole enterprise does not need to convert at once (big bang)

**What do you dislike about Oracle Siebel?**

Extremely niche skill sets needed and are hard to find for more recent acquisitions to the oracle family, especially their MDM suite

**Recommendations to others considering Oracle Siebel:**

give plenty of time to learn before you commit to deliver.

  ### 7. Complex and Outdated

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Neil P. | Global Head of Customer Systems - Hive, Information Technology and Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 28, 2012

**What do you like best about Oracle Siebel?**

Good workflow capability and quite flexible in terms of customisation. Lots of industry-specific support, which is good if it exactly fits requirements (rare). Extensive data model which is good if it matches customer requirements.

**What do you dislike about Oracle Siebel?**

Siebel is effectively a 'data model out of the box'. It often takes more time reverse-engineering what is there to see it it fits requirements, than it would take to define and configure it in more modern platforms like Salesforce.com. It is also not very stable or performant, and requires the purchase of hardware as it is an on-premise platform. It is also a significant upfront investment.

**Recommendations to others considering Oracle Siebel:**

Since Oracle have released their Fusion applications and purchased RightNow CX, Siebel likely has a limited future. It is based on old, on-premise technology which has now been superseded by the aformentioned Oracle products and 'Cloud' players like Salesforce.com.

  ### 8. In the Twilight of its Life

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mark M. | Manager, Software Engineering, Computer Software, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 13, 2012

**What do you like best about Oracle Siebel?**

Doesn't have the drawbacks of a cloud CRM. Can handle big data in an enterprise environment. Robust and extensible.

**What do you dislike about Oracle Siebel?**

Ugly, outdated interface. Reaching the end of its life. Like COBOL, it had its time, and there will be some old school programmers that still swear by it, but most of us have moved on.

**Recommendations to others considering Oracle Siebel:**

My consulting firm, which used to be a leading implementor of Siebel, now argues that the only CRM's worth considering are MS Dynamics, Oracle CRM OnDemand and Salesforce. I would not recommend a new implementation of Siebel.

  ### 9. As a CIO I choosed this as the CRM for a company i worked for

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Eyal Tamuz (LION) . | Founder & CEO, Information Technology and Services

**Reviewed Date:** October 09, 2012

**What do you like best about Oracle Siebel?**

very easy to learn an use, easy to customize, give all reuired options and funtionalities, gives you good control on application activities, quick, safe and solid.

**What do you dislike about Oracle Siebel?**

nothing special

**Recommendations to others considering Oracle Siebel:**

i think it is a very good value for the money and can be used almost in every company

  ### 10. Agrre with other reviewers - outdated, difficult, limited, needs to be put out to pasture

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tim P. | Health & Life Sciences Solution Design Consultant/Domain Expert, Research, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 18, 2012

**What do you like best about Oracle Siebel?**

It is very hard to find anything complimentary to put in this category. Seriously. I do not wish to offend anyone, and hope I don't get flamed, but I would rather use a paper rolodex than this product.

**What do you dislike about Oracle Siebel?**

Almost everything. Hard to use, very outdated interface, expensive. We trialled for 2 months, then dropped it (for SugarCRM)

**Recommendations to others considering Oracle Siebel:**

Recommendations to others considering this product? Don't. Just don't. Try MS Dynamics CRM if you want power and extensibility, SFDC if you have a lot of money and don't need to capitalize the cost (SFDC is cloud only), Sugar or something like it if you have no cash.

  ### 11. Yeah, not so much.

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jim S. | Strategic Advisor, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 20, 2013

**What do you like best about Oracle Siebel?**

Not much to like... so old school.

**What do you dislike about Oracle Siebel?**

This is not fun to use, requires a lot of care and feeding and if you want to change the way it works for your business get out your wallet.

**Recommendations to others considering Oracle Siebel:**

Consider a modern CRM.

  ### 12. Consider Other CRMs

**Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Erich R. | Co-founder & CSO, Internet, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 27, 2012

**What do you like best about Oracle Siebel?**

This was a good choice many years ago, however, there are now much better solutions for CRM nowadays. Many businesses have successfully implemented and run this solution, however, I consult in this space, and have not heard of a single customer in the past 5 years preparing to implement this.

**What do you dislike about Oracle Siebel?**

Old software, old technology. Not worth considering as an option.

**Recommendations to others considering Oracle Siebel:**

Consider Microsoft Dynamics or Salesforce.com CRM. These are much better more scalable options for small and large businesses alike.

  ### 13. old, big heavy software.

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Kryz O. | Global Partner PreSales and Technical Enablement , Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 27, 2012

**What do you like best about Oracle Siebel?**

Siebel used to be the big hitter for CRM. It is functionly rich, however take a lot of services to get setup

**What do you dislike about Oracle Siebel?**

However the costs for implementing are far out weighed (by todays standards) compared to the benefits.
A SaaS or even on premmise CRM can be setup and running in a lot less time

**Recommendations to others considering Oracle Siebel:**

look at a modern CRM like SFDC, or even Microsoft or Sage for on premise.

  ### 14. Is the time to value risk worth it?

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dustin G. | Senior Business Systems Analyst, Banking, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 18, 2012

**What do you like best about Oracle Siebel?**

Unfortunately the only thing that you may find useful is the reliability and speed since it is on-premise, even so you're bound to find the same qualities for a much better value in a Saas/On-Demand CRM.

**What do you dislike about Oracle Siebel?**

While Siebel does come with a certain amount of reliability of being a on-premises application, it is fairly complex to implement. The pre-built vertical specific versions unfortunately are limited in overall flexibility. In turn Siebel requires a lot of time and effort to manipulate it to fit unique implementations.

**Recommendations to others considering Oracle Siebel:**

There are much better options out there.

  ### 15. Oracle Siebel CRM

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 08, 2013

**What do you like best about Oracle Siebel?**

Ease of automation for administrators on the back end - easy to customize

**What do you dislike about Oracle Siebel?**

Users did not find user-friendly, needed a lot of support from administrators

**Recommendations to others considering Oracle Siebel:**

Make sure the customization works for your enterprise

  ### 16. Decent Standalone Siebel CRM

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Michael F. | Senior Technical Account Manager, Team Lead, Computer Software, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 17, 2012

**What do you like best about Oracle Siebel?**

For working strictly with Oracle Siebel, this CRM works great. It integrates seamlessly into Siebel (as it was solely designed to do).

**What do you dislike about Oracle Siebel?**

This integrates into nothing else (not even other Oracle products) outside of Siebel. This is a major downside.

**Recommendations to others considering Oracle Siebel:**

If you are solely looking for Siebel CRM Integration, you are set, otherwise, look elsewhere.

  ### 17. Implemented Sales, Marketing and Services at HDS

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** John A. | Vice President, IT Applications, Computer Hardware, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 29, 2012

**What do you like best about Oracle Siebel?**

Scalable and pretty robust.

**What do you dislike about Oracle Siebel?**

Interfaces and integration with other Oracle products is non-existent.

**Recommendations to others considering Oracle Siebel:**

Fine if you wish to have standalone but do not buy for integration reasons

  ### 18. The process of setting up and managing a call center to handle customer inquiries and support.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Insurance | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 03, 2012

**What do you like best about Oracle Siebel?**

The text provided is in English and does not require translation. It discusses the business processes related to sales, marketing, and service.

**What do you dislike about Oracle Siebel?**

Usability

**Recommendations to others considering Oracle Siebel:**

Minimize customization
