It provides great performance to the Oracle products running on the system. For instance, Oracle DB performs muh better on the OEL platform. Compared to other vendor's Linux, OEL is used in setting up the whole Oracle Cloud Infrastructure platform. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Managing of the repository is a bit of pain in OEL as compared to its competitors. The support from Oracle needs to be better as REDHAT provides better technical support for RHEL. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I have been using oracle linux for years but I have started using oracle linux 8.5 for deployment of kubernetes master and worker nodes. Speed and simplicity I found it easy to use and faster than many other os platforms. U can also resolve dependancies simply using yum. So with docker containers and kubernetes this works best and its my experiance which is talking. So go ahed and spinup ec2 oracke linux instances and get your handon. Also it works magic on onpremise setups. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I think there are very few downsides of using oracle linux. So go ahed and use it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

There is nothing I dislike about it. If it's in my power, I would like to scrap all other LINUX flavored OS and use only Oracle Linux. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

As oracle is trying to correct a lot of issues and bugs from the previous versions of oracle linux. Apart from a few minor ignorable gliches. i found Oracle Linux to be useful and on the money Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It's very user-friendly. Well managed and organized structure. Update, upgrades, and other software installations are very easy, reliable, and secure. Additional tools like KSplice provide great help to run systems smoothly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I didn't found yet anything very serious that someone can dislike in this system. There are many tools that help to configure the system which was not available before. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

We use oracle linux in our enviroment for a decade , it performs better with oracle database , easy knowledge base. Best support team who works 24/7 to troubleshoot. Available for on-prem & in cloud. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Not compatible with all hardware vendors , integration with other database wil be bit difficult. The major dislike is the cost , it's not affordable by small cap/mid cap companies. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It is excellent operating system because it has all required package and libraries to implement in production with best security features. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I haven't experienced anything which I dislike in OEL. It's quite easy to use as well. But enabling the vnc and vnc port should be easier for system administrators Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I like the familiar environment and feel to other RHEL based distros, including the Yum update manager and utility, it makes script creation and other automation tasks much easier to write across multiple distro environments Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I have had issues with installing an iso that was mounted to a USB key, however, I've experienced this issue with centos 8 also, the solution is either to re-mount the iso to the key, or just use a hypervisor and run in a VM, I have not had any issues with installation when using a hypervisor instead of a bare-metal system.
