What do you like best about OpticsPro?

Users often appreciate OpticsPro for its advanced optical corrections and image enhancement capailities. I find its automatic correction features, which address lens distortions, chromatic aberrations and other optical imperfections, to be particularly impressive. The software's intuitive interface, efficient workflow and the ability to enhance image quality without extensive manual adjustments are commonly praised. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about OpticsPro?

There is a steeper learning curve for beginners due to the advanced features and options available. Additionally, the software's pricing structure, as well as system requirements for optimal performance, could be considered drawbacks by some users. OpticsPro's processing speed can be a concern, particularly while handling large or complex edits. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is OpticsPro solving and how is that benefiting you?

OpticsPro automatically corrects distortions, chromatic abberations and other optical imperfections associated with different lenses, ensuring that images are free from these distortions. The software includes effective noise reduction algorithms, enhancing overall image quality, particularly in low-light conditions. OpticsPro supports a wide range of camera and lens profiles, ensuring compatibility for photographers using various equipment. The automatic corrections and efficient workflow saves time, allowing me to focus more on capturing and creating, rather than spending extensive time on manual edits. Users benefit from enhanced image quality by addressing optical distortions, reducing noise and preserving fine details in photographs. It provides consistent and reliable results which helps in achieving a desired level of quality and correction across the images. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about OpticsPro?

Local adjustments by layers greatly facilitate RAW photo editing for beginners in this art. Another interesting thing is the simultaneous export in different formats depending on the destination of the photo.

But if there is something to highlight about DXO OpticsPro, now called DXO PhotoLab 3, it is the automatic lens correction. When you open an image for the first time, Photolab reads the metadata of your image and automatically adjusts the lens parameters that go far beyond what can be appreciated in other photo editing software.

When opening the same image in Lightroom and Photolab, the latter shows an easily visible increase in quality, especially in sharpness. The software easily identified my camera as a Canon EOS 550D and recognized my lenses. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about OpticsPro?

For me, the way images are organized. Catalogs are not used, and for some photographers that will be a positive thing, but for others, not.

Another aspect to mention, but which is not a flaw in itself, is that one must get used to the user interface, especially coming from other editing software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering OpticsPro:

If you are a landscape photographer, whether beginner or professional, this software brings together the necessary tools to process RAW images to make the most of our captures. Easily and quickly, adapting to the workflow in a simple way. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is OpticsPro solving and how is that benefiting you?

The automatic optical correction is a very good feature that saves you a lot of time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about OpticsPro?

DXO has two things it excels at, Camera/Lens image correction and Prime noise reduction. I consider DXO's solutions in both of these the best available in any software package. NOTE: DXO Optics Pro is now call DXO PhotoLab. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about OpticsPro?

It's export feature, taking an image out of DXO and into another program such as Photoshop, is quite slow, although it's better in the newer release. However, I would not ask that they speed it up at the expense of their wonderful noise reduction efforts. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering OpticsPro:

If you use a lot of differently camera/lens combinations or if you do a fair amount of low light photography, then DXO is a great tool to have in your mix of photo editing software. It also has an AI drive "smart lighting" adjustment tool that is great for fast edits of lots of images, such as a track meet or the like. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is OpticsPro solving and how is that benefiting you?

DXO does an amazing job compensating for camera and lens induce variations. It more importantly has the best image noise reduction on the market, something quite important to me as much of what I shoot has some dark areas where noise is easily shown. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about OpticsPro?

The noise reduction is unbelievable. I occasionally take dog agility photographs. The speed of the dogs demands a fast shutter speed, but since I'm taking photos inside of a building the light isn't great. Flash can't be used because it would distract the dogs and handlers. This means that I need to use a high ISO. Optics Pro does a much better job at cleaning up the noise than the other software I tried - Adobe Lightroom and Canon Digital Photo Professional. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about OpticsPro?

It doesn't do a few things that Adobe Lightroom does that are really convenient. The dust removal tool apparently can't be resized (I'm still using the trial version, but I've had it for quite a while). Lightroom also let's me see where I've used the dust removal tool if I go back months or even years later. Lightroom also let's me save "Snapshots" with different settings; of course, Optics Pro does, however, let me use versions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering OpticsPro:

At this point in the trial evaluation I'm really happy with the software. I'd definitely recommend it to any photographer looking to process images. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is OpticsPro solving and how is that benefiting you?

My software expenses have been reduced since I don't need an Adobe subscription anymore. I had been doing the bulk of my photo editing in Lightroom and then bringing the image into Photoshop for final editing before printing. Optics Pro will replace Lightroom in my workflow and I have a copy of Photoshop CS4 and Gimp. The cataloging function of Lightroom has already been replaced with Daminion which works perfectly with Optics Pro. From Daminion, I can search for a specific image then choose to open it with Optics Pro. The two pieces of software work together just as seamlessly as switching Lightroom modules. And it's faster.
