## OpenX Reviews
  ### 1. Solution for Publisher's Programmatic Advertising

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 20, 2022

**What do you like best about OpenX?**

OpenX is a great tool to create and Manage Open exchange campaigns.

**What do you dislike about OpenX?**

Sometimes the reporting gets delayed and the data is updated only after 24 hours for the previous day's data. It sometimes gets tricks when we are calculating the discrepancies for Ad Partners.

**What problems is OpenX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

To manage Ad campaigns, especially open auction.

  ### 2. Great For Creating Reports

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Cassidy E. | Linear Associate Account Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 30, 2018

**What do you like best about OpenX?**

My clients are constantly asking for reporting, they want to know how many clicks their ads got, what percentage of people clicked on them, how many people saw the ads, etc and this tool helps us track those numbers accurately and easily.

**What do you dislike about OpenX?**

I have to use this in combination with another program called SailThru in order to generate all of the information my clients ask for. I would like for these services to somehow be combined.

**Recommendations to others considering OpenX:**

Be sure you know the functions, it's great for generating reports and filtering results to very specific things!!

**What problems is OpenX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are solving the issue of tracking ad clicks and impressions, generating reports easily that can be modified and filtered for the specific information and client we are looking to track, and it's very easy!

  ### 3. Free with good features, but limited at times

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Robert S. | Founder & Creative Director, Banking, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 02, 2018

**What do you like best about OpenX?**

Good targeting and campaign management; fairly easy to deploy; excellent customization ability; as a free solution, an excellent value

**What do you dislike about OpenX?**

Support can be difficult to reach; security vulnerabilities with their ad server

**Recommendations to others considering OpenX:**

There are alternatives that may be more suitable, especially for high-volume agencies or those who rely on a strong support team

**What problems is OpenX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

OpenX has made it easy to manage ad campaigns and monetize websites, both for our firm and for our clients

  ### 4. OpenX for Publishers

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mark W. | CEO & Founder, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 10, 2017

**What do you like best about OpenX?**

I like how they cater to publishers of all sizes. Also have good programmatic tools for publishers

**What do you dislike about OpenX?**

some of the rates are low for the programmatic revenue.

**Recommendations to others considering OpenX:**

Continue to play both sides of the ad stack (i.e. ssp and dsp). Since you have ad serving capabilities, you are one of the few companies that can compete with Google (DFP/DFA) in the programmatic space.

**What problems is OpenX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Helping to monetize my ad inventory globally and not just in the US.

  ### 5. Programmatic Solution

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Sarah S. | Media Planner, Marketing and Advertising, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 23, 2017

**What do you like best about OpenX?**

We have a great relationship with The Trade Desk and work with OpenX to complement our PMP buys. They help scale and reach our target efficiently. While I do not directly handle the buy with OpenX, they have been a consistent partner in 2016.

**What do you dislike about OpenX?**

There is less transparency in site specific metrics here and optimization options by site are limited. If we were able to optimize on certain site level data, that would be helpful. There is limited scale for video within premium environments.

**Recommendations to others considering OpenX:**

Work with a DSP to help manage updates

**What problems is OpenX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Programmatic scale issues - the benefits are obvious through efficient pricing and relatively successful engagement metrics. The ability to overlay data segments has bolstered our targeting across the board for a number of campaigns within our client.

  ### 6. Limited Infastructure

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 08, 2016

**What do you like best about OpenX?**

I use OpenX in my daily work life to source and monitor ad campaigns we use for clients. I like that Openx is standardizing all of their different pages. Create line items, create ads... all follows the same guidelines

**What do you dislike about OpenX?**

Lately, OpenX has been making a lot of changes to their interface... that I wouldn't say is 'for the better'. In particular, their new reporting tool is very convoluted and difficult to use. We find ourselves reverting to the old reporting tool for now...but they will be getting rid of it soon.

**What problems is OpenX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are delivering ads to our customers.

  ### 7. Perfect to acquire customers for a new product launch

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 06, 2016

**What do you like best about OpenX?**

Ability to micro-target my target audience with a good conversion is a gift for anyone launching a new product. Analytics is top-notch and helps us do A/B testing etc.

**What do you dislike about OpenX?**

UI can be improved. Ability to create multiple user accounts with varied permissions is desired as we do not want every one to put hands on all the data

**Recommendations to others considering OpenX:**

Targeted campaigns - OpenX is the tool to go for!

**What problems is OpenX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We were launching a new product. We defined our target audience and were searching for a good tool to kick start our online user acquisition campaign. OpenX helped in starting our campaign without much hassle. Also, it even helped us by analysing which segment of users had better conversions and let us tweak our product according to customers.

  ### 8. Amazing UI

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 19, 2016

**What do you like best about OpenX?**

I like the agility of the Open X. Lots of options to customize

**What do you dislike about OpenX?**

THere is nothing specific to dislike. I have had good experience.

**What problems is OpenX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I was trying to solved a business critical issue. Customization ,flexibility is what i have realizesd.

  ### 9. OpenX Partnership

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 29, 2016

**What do you like best about OpenX?**

They take traffic quality very seriously and have an abundance of supply to offer their demand partners. Very high quality display relationships.

**What do you dislike about OpenX?**

Can be difficult to get a response from a member of their team which makes it difficult to start new business and grow revenue.

**What problems is OpenX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have been able to purchase display supply that we were not able to get otherwise. Their relationships allow one partner to supply a variety of verticals.

  ### 10. OpenX Review

**Rating:** 2.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Government Administration | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 29, 2016

**What do you like best about OpenX?**

This product falls short of meeting expectations for businesses in need of ad tracking and management despite its heavy use by those in the industry.

**What do you dislike about OpenX?**

It is not comprehensive enough and has bugs.

**Recommendations to others considering OpenX:**

dont buy this product!

**What problems is OpenX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tracking of ad activity online.

  ### 11. OpenX

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Broadcast Media | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 09, 2016

**What do you like best about OpenX?**

Extremely great at header bidding, very progressive in their thinking and able to monetize publisher's website better

**What do you dislike about OpenX?**

Nothing at all. They are great at what they do.

**What problems is OpenX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

remnant monetization

  ### 12. 360 plattform

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 26, 2016

**What do you like best about OpenX?**

The interface is really simple and usefull. It achieve good CPM and with good brand safety

**What do you dislike about OpenX?**

there are some problems related with the PMP, difficult to generate and use passback

**What problems is OpenX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Private Market Places , and inventory discovery

  ### 13. Easy to use but lacing features

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Roy M. | Director of Programmatic, Marketing and Advertising, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 05, 2015

**What do you like best about OpenX?**

As a product to help monetize our backfill on the display side, it generated decent fill rates and CPMs.

**What do you dislike about OpenX?**

As a network, it could have been an easier process to implement a large group of sites or make bulk edits to floor rates and passback tags.

**Recommendations to others considering OpenX:**

Although they aren't my top choice, I would recommend them to other publishers. I also enjoyed working with my account reps. They were very responsive and easy to work with.

**What problems is OpenX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have used them to help monetize our backfill on our O&O properties. Having the self-serve feature was very useful when needing to make changes during off hours.

  ### 14. OpenX ad exchange

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Online Media

**Reviewed Date:** November 25, 2014

**What do you like best about OpenX?**

OpenX made it very easy to opt in or out to RTB. Setting up campaigns is also quite easy to do. They have a massive help center, although written in technical language so may be a little bit hard to understand to someone new. Account management is fantastic, they are very helpful and easy to reach when needed.

**What do you dislike about OpenX?**

The system tends to get slow sometimes, Also sometimes changes to live order do not save, if order is not paused for the time to make changes. OpenX does not provide ad review center on RTB and dealing with ad issue can get a long process. I would like to see more flexibility with dates when creating scheduled reports

**Recommendations to others considering OpenX:**

It is important to structure inventory and network very at the very beginning as making changes in the feature might be difficult. Also investing time in proper training right at the beginning will pay off later on as many of functionality work differently then on most ad exchanges.
Also it is a good idea to create saved reports. It makes live easier and speed up weekly reporting a lot.

**What problems is OpenX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use OpenX as ad exchange and RTB, we serve 350 million impressions a month and OpenX proved to be reliable platform. Account manager is always in hand willing to help with issues, training or just random questions. Also reporting tool is quite good, I find there everything what I need and is easy to navigate.

  ### 15. Useful Ad Network monetization solutions

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** James W. | Director of Product, Ad Solutions, Internet, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 30, 2014

**What do you like best about OpenX?**

Team was great and very involved on helping to setup the account and make sure we started to see delivery quickly. They offered competitive value on the Web units.

**What do you dislike about OpenX?**

They did not always provide high volume fill so although they offered to help diversify our setup they were not really one of the big contributors as I had hoped. Over time I believe we can get more from them.

**What problems is OpenX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

There was a large dependence on just a couple different ad networks which could cause the company to see high level changes on the monetization side. The goal was to diversify the setup so one partner did not control it all. OpenX helped take some of the inventory and although not a large percentage we saw great CPM returns from them.

  ### 16. OpenX / Revive Ad Server, free, but at what cost?

**Rating:** 0.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Automotive | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 25, 2014

**What do you like best about OpenX?**

The free price tag is always a very inviting factor when choosing a ad network, however, free comes with a cost in this case. Expect zero support and zero reliability should something go wrong.

**What do you dislike about OpenX?**

We have have used OpenX for about 3 years. It's constantly being hacked. Security holes and vulnerabilities run rampant and it always takes a loss of data or corruption of files to be reported before OpenX will do anything about it. There is also very limited support. The community forum is a graveyard of unanswered questions.

**Recommendations to others considering OpenX:**

The entire software needs to be revamped, not repackaged as Revive.

**What problems is OpenX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Honestly? None what so ever. We recently switched over the Google DFP for Small Business. It's a much better solution.

  ### 17. OpenX Review

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 27, 2015

**What do you like best about OpenX?**

Ease of setup. It's quite a set and forget platform although this might be bad if you want special customizations and specific price floors.

**What do you dislike about OpenX?**

Doesn't play well with passing to google tags. Lack of data about bids/prices/floors.

**Recommendations to others considering OpenX:**

Always pays on time, always replies to support questions in a timely manner. They really do have good support.

**What problems is OpenX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Fills at high CPMs but the fill rate tends to be a lower then other "true ad exchange" products. Most of its demand comes from Appnexus...

  ### 18. OpenX - Cheap Inventory. You get what you pay for.

**Rating:** 1.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User

**Reviewed Date:** December 30, 2014

**What do you like best about OpenX?**

Broad reach for display units. Cheapest CPM prices out there for IAB standard units.

**What do you dislike about OpenX?**

Extremely low quality (shady) inventory: We were continuously uncertain where our ads were running or whether they were visible at all. We saw incredibly low click through rates/survey completion rates from this inventory.
Customer service liaisons were primarily concerned with pushing additional spend as opposed to rectifying issues,

**Recommendations to others considering OpenX:**

I would only recommend using this inventory when in desperate need of cheap reach which does NOT need to perform to any measurable KPI.

**What problems is OpenX solving and how is that benefiting you?**

At times I am called upon to distribute survey units or pixel packages at an extremely high scale without receiving remuneration from the advertiser. This inventory can be used to preserve margin while still delivering on the contracted number of bonus impressions.
