## OpenText NetIQ Identity Manager Reviews
  ### 1. How to facilitate user management

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Mining & Metals | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 11, 2020

**What do you like best about OpenText NetIQ Identity Manager?**

There are a some items that I like. Fist one is the scalability of the solution, I have worked with customers from 5.000 users to more than 200.000 users. Easy to install and start to use. Once you learn the Designer interface, development of new connection drivers and workflows are not difficult. The availability of drivers already provided by Micro Focus to connect to different applications give us a lot of flexibility. Code control by the use of packages facilitate the code update and rollback changes if necessary. The RBS is simple to understand and use.

**What do you dislike about OpenText NetIQ Identity Manager?**

One item that I´m seeing some developers complain is the workflow development interface. They say it is not as intuitive as the driver one. And it would be nice to have either specific training with examples of use of each activity for workflow development. We can find a lot of information on drivers development, but as much with workflow development.

**Recommendations to others considering OpenText NetIQ Identity Manager:**

Use it, or at least request a POC for your need.

**What problems is OpenText NetIQ Identity Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The main functionality it is the control of a user life cycle in the company. Since it is hired to the day it is dismissed. In the mean time, provide access to integrated applications can be automated and given the control with due approval process to application managers or administrators. The end user just fills a request, using a workflow, to request or revoke access.

  ### 2. Best of class features and administration tools allows for fastest possible implementations

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jim M. | Star Wars Historian, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 11, 2020

**What do you like best about OpenText NetIQ Identity Manager?**

Real Time sync. Every other IDM tool I've seen batches work. Knowing that a termination happens immediately is important. Admin tools. By far the best set of administration tools I've seen in the market. They not only let you deploy, but they help make the implementation easier. Mature robust architecture. This product has been around a while, because they figured out an elegant solution to a complex and difficult problem. The NetIQ IDM architecture allows for maximum flexibility without having to do everything from scratch.

**What do you dislike about OpenText NetIQ Identity Manager?**

Installation and dealing with the multiple components can be challenging. With different platforms and different library dependencies, installs can be harrowing.

**What problems is OpenText NetIQ Identity Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm a consultant, so I've deployed NetIQ IDM in many situations. I've also deployed other solutions, but IDM has become our benchmark for how long a project should take. Every other product deployment will take longer with the same set of requirements.

  ### 3. a good tool for access compliance

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Dale F. | Senior Software Engineer In Test, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 11, 2020

**What do you like best about OpenText NetIQ Identity Manager?**

the ease of use for normal users
connectivity to many apps
ease of administration
Setting up logins for 30,000 students all in one day! plus removing access from 20,000 past students.

**What do you dislike about OpenText NetIQ Identity Manager?**

Initial setup can be difficult
Some elements could be more customisable
Sometimes failures for runs of 30,000 students all in one day! plus removing access from 20,000 past students, require access to consultants to diagnose the fault.

**Recommendations to others considering OpenText NetIQ Identity Manager:**

Make sure that you get a contract that includes integrating the solution in your environment, and with full ongoing support, the additional costs will add up quickly.

**What problems is OpenText NetIQ Identity Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Setting up logins for 30,000 students all in one day! plus removing access from 20,000 past students. Additionally each user has access to one or many of a suite of 200 + applications.

  ### 4. Excellent solution with a great amount of flexibility.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chad G. | Senior Systems Engineer, Insurance, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 19, 2019

**What do you like best about OpenText NetIQ Identity Manager?**

I like that the software is so flexible. There are so many things you can do with the software and so many different systems you can connect to. And if there are no drivers for your specific system, you can often use one of the generic drivers to accomplish what you need to be able to do.

**What do you dislike about OpenText NetIQ Identity Manager?**

If you need to do more than just minor changes to the pre-built drivers, there is a decent learning curve to writing your own drivers or packages.

**What problems is OpenText NetIQ Identity Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are using IDM for syncing between many connected systems including eDirectory, Active Directory and Oracle Unified Directory (OUD). This has allowed us to have disparate applications that use disparate user stores but yet the user uses the same username and password for them all. With OUD specifically it has been a great tool to populate the OUD system with process accounts and keep the passwords synchronized. In the past, each database had users local so management effort was huge. By implementing OUD and creating IDM drivers to populate the OUD instances, we have saved countless hours of work by the Oracle admins who, in the past, would be helping the application administrators during process account password changes. Now the application administrators can change the passwords on their process accounts without any interaction from the Oracle admins which saves the application administrators as well as the Oracle admins time. It also lowers the amount of downtime the applications have while the passwords for the process accounts that they use to connect to Oracle are changed.

  ### 5. My Experience with Identity Manager is good and I high recommend to go through this and implement.

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gourav D. | Sr. Consultant, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 11, 2020

**What do you like best about OpenText NetIQ Identity Manager?**

In current situation, data is a huge risk to handle but as a solution Identity manager plays a good role.

**What do you dislike about OpenText NetIQ Identity Manager?**

I would to see more awareness around Identity Manager.

**What problems is OpenText NetIQ Identity Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Data on multiple systems is difficult to track and manage which is helped and manageable through Identity Manager

  ### 6. Best Identity Manager Solution on the Market

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Joey K. | Engineer IV, Information Technology and Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 18, 2019

**What do you like best about OpenText NetIQ Identity Manager?**

The biggest benefit to Micro Focus IDM is that it is completely based on standards and doesn't require specialized developers to implement. Many other IDM solutions out there require writing connectors in a vendors specific coding language (i.e., - Java, etc). MF IDM utilizes XML to customize connectors.

**What do you dislike about OpenText NetIQ Identity Manager?**

Support in recent years is not as good as it once was.

**What problems is OpenText NetIQ Identity Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have implemented MF IDM multiple times and have even taught classes on implementation. It is a wonderful framework that can be used to integrate nearly any system.

  ### 7. Not trivial, but extremely powerful and capable

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Odd Kristian L. | Senior Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 20, 2019

**What do you like best about OpenText NetIQ Identity Manager?**

It's a very powerful eco-system that can handle almost any scenario you need handled.
The designer with it's relative ease of use, and driver package handling is a favorite.

**What do you dislike about OpenText NetIQ Identity Manager?**

The software installation on a large scale is not trivial, especially identity application & OSP, and would definately benefit from simplification or more automation, although I will say it has become a lot better in 4.7.

**Recommendations to others considering OpenText NetIQ Identity Manager:**

The system and consepts takes a bit of time to learn properly, but it's well worth the effort.
Plan your implementation properly, and find out in detail what you want the system to do.

**What problems is OpenText NetIQ Identity Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are provisioning and de-provisioning several thousands students and employees every year, with fully automated activation, password change or reset, and access control.

  ### 8. OSU review.16

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 16, 2019

**What do you like best about OpenText NetIQ Identity Manager?**

The graphical interface that allow me to code in a easy way... and I can switch over to the actual code (on rare occasions). The copy/paste feature is helpful too. I paste code into a text editor to help with coding.

**What do you dislike about OpenText NetIQ Identity Manager?**

Identity Manager needs to add a "skip" option in the foreach loop as well as adding an "elseif" option in the if statement.

**What problems is OpenText NetIQ Identity Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It makes Identity Management of our complex system much easier.

  ### 9. Very satisfied

Very very satisfied

Does not exist an HA configuration, it's a SPOF

**What problems is OpenText NetIQ Identity Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Provisioning between heterogeneous systems

  ### 10. I am an auditor in corporate and have reviewed GIS for this product.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Banking | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 23, 2018

**What do you like best about OpenText NetIQ Identity Manager?**

Reporting and scalability however as an auditor I do not see the best parts of the product.

**What do you dislike about OpenText NetIQ Identity Manager?**

The way we implemented here at the bank. Meaning we have not centralized and have separate instances between platforms

**Recommendations to others considering OpenText NetIQ Identity Manager:**

Currently this product is being used by many other big customers.

Access reviews for application managers and the managers themselves.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Andreas R. | IT Supporter, Marketing and Advertising, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 15, 2016

**What do you like best about OpenText NetIQ Identity Manager?**

The NetIQ access manager has all the functionality and stability we were looking for. It's a very mature product and very logical to use. While the documentation could be quite heavy, authentication worked solidly once hooked up.

It's also extremely well documented.

**What do you dislike about OpenText NetIQ Identity Manager?**

While it's a mature product, the interface and usability could use a big lift. It's quite heavy for a small team, It would be great if it integrated with more products, and the integrations there are can be quite costly. It's definitely not for soho.

**Recommendations to others considering OpenText NetIQ Identity Manager:**

There's an extensive amount of documentation. Ensure that you have the resources to deploy fully and learn using it. Also ensure you're aware of whats required for every service you want to hook up.

**What problems is OpenText NetIQ Identity Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed a solid IDM solution that could do SS and provisioning for services both internally and in the cloud. It was also a requirement that we could hook it up to an AD, which some of our services required.

  ### 13. Longtime user

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

NetIQ identity manager is a true enterprise product. Stable, well developed and with all the features you could expect.
It has an easy to use workflow for creating users.
The self-service portal for resetting passwords etc. is easy to deploy.
Has strong user activity monitoring.
Was easy to install on premise

**What do you dislike about OpenText NetIQ Identity Manager?**

The interface is a bit outdated, a quick overhaul of the interface would mean the world.
It would be nice to be able to customize the self-service portal more.

**Recommendations to others considering OpenText NetIQ Identity Manager:**

Don't be put out by the interface. This is a powerful sw with exactly the features you need.

**What problems is OpenText NetIQ Identity Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Aviation & Aerospace | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 21, 2016

**What do you like best about OpenText NetIQ Identity Manager?**

I like for the advanced users that you're able to save information, it's been a lifesaver for myself as an Advanced user for quite some time, but on the Service Desk it's been very very difficult. We are still working through things.

**What do you dislike about OpenText NetIQ Identity Manager?**

We just rolled out NetIQ in our location and it's been a real pain. User are able to have SSO, but continually get locked out over and over and over again, the software keeps suggesting their network login instead of the custom logins for each of theese websites and programs and our tickets keep piling up, very annoying.

**Recommendations to others considering OpenText NetIQ Identity Manager:**

Not work it to be honest, I'm not a huge fan.

**What problems is OpenText NetIQ Identity Manager solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Saving users putting in their passwords, but they are not remembering them, causing more issues. The benefits are not great to be honest.
