Openstack is an open source freely available private cloud management and orchestration platform. It has a wide range of features (dare I say more than those available on similar commercial platforms) such as true multi-tenancy with network isolation, distributed routing, container support, automation support with ansible, puppet, chef, support for bare-metal, a wide variety of services such as LBaaS, FwaaS, VPNaaS, etc.

Complexity and reliability.

Openstack is complex to understand and implement. Troubleshooting is difficult unless you have the technical manpower and skillsets. Openstack uses rabbitmq as its primary messaging component and we've had several issues with rabbitmq (some due to operator error, some due to underlay network instability issues, etc.). But my beef with rabbitmQ is that is does not recover easily once the problem is fixed. Once rabbitmq is down the entire platform is down. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
