## OpenEye Reviews
  ### 1. OpenEye Makes Client Training Easy, with Outstanding Partner Support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Heather D. | VP of Operations, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 15, 2026

**What do you like best about OpenEye?**

I appreciate how easy it is to train our clients on using it. They can use OWS for not only viewing the cameras and exporting footage, but the alerts and reports are vital for day to day operations. The customized user groups for permissions insures everyone that needs access has it, but each group can have their required permissions configured for use.

I also LOVE our channel partner account team! They are beyond amazing with answering questions, collaborating on custom needs and taking feature recommendations in to account and communicating them to the development team. I can always call Rich or Ryan and I know they will answer and assist me however they can. I have also had the pleasure of working with the engineering and development team and they go above and beyond to assist with the more complicated situations that arise.

I have worked with OpenEye for MANY years and have never had a complaint. I will always recommend OpenEye to all of our clients!

**What do you dislike about OpenEye?**

The only negative thing I can think of is that over the years the support desk has changed quite a bit. I have always appreciated the friendly voices and relationships built with each member of OpenEye and feel like they really do their best with troubleshooting and questions and if they don't know the answer, they are wonderful at reaching out to someone who can better assist. in the last few years the help desk is not nearly as friendly and I am not sure they have as much understanding when it comes to the issues we may be facing when needing to call into them for support. However, the rest of the team ALWAYS follows us and makes sure to assist in finding resolution.

**What problems is OpenEye solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They do an amazing job and constantly updating their platform and hardware/software for the ever changing market. I truly feel like they communicate with us when our clients have specific needs and go out of their way to try and find an implementation that fits our needs. The visual search feature has been LIFE CHANGING and they are always updating their channel partner training on each new feature as well as provide great documentation for presenting new features to our clients.

  ### 2. Simple UI and Easy Admin Management

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Nick R. | Security Professional, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 15, 2026

**What do you like best about OpenEye?**

Simple UI, and fairly easy to manage from an admin perspective.

**What do you dislike about OpenEye?**

Lack of EBR option for Loss Prevention/Retail Theft
Software does not include E911 service over VoIP to respond to real incidents in real time.
There is no way to dewarp fisheye camera views in the OE Mobile App.
There is no AI Agent to assist with search or auto-review footage to prevent false alarms from triggering alerts.
No way to manage PINs directly in the web application in the event you want to use your OpenEye cameras as an intrusion system alternative.

**What problems is OpenEye solving and how is that benefiting you?**

OpenEye is the only VMS we have that can integrate with our DMP panels to push video alarm events when the intrusion system is triggered. This helps speed up the process when responding to intrusion calls.

  ### 3. OpenEye Web Services the good and the bad

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Manufacturing | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 04, 2022

**What do you like best about OpenEye?**

Easy to use and an intuitive GUI. Adding cameras to the system is quick and easy and doesn't require too much knowledge other than the IP and sign-on info. Good features for the price point.

**What do you dislike about OpenEye?**

OWS has some significant downsides, however. PTZ control and use is sporadic and can be troublesome even when using OpenEye cameras.
They also charge per imager on a camera instead of per IP address. Most if not all other providers charge by IP. So with OpenEye, a four-imager camera requires four separate licenses. This is a significant cost increase over other providers.

**What problems is OpenEye solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Allows for easy access and management of cameras and recorded footage. Adding users including those outside the company is incredibly easy and offers a huge range of customization so you are only given out the access and privileges that are required per person. No blanket categories where you are required to give out more than is needed. This is probably the best feature in my opinion.

  ### 4. Flawless Security Solution with Outstanding Features

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Manny M. | Warehouse Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 27, 2026

**What do you like best about OpenEye?**

I love how OpenEye flawlessly solves everything about security and is interconnected with my alarm system. The system is so reliable. One thing I really like is that it sends you screenshots of any movement when you set it up after hours, which makes it super convenient to go back and review. It's also incredibly easy to backtrack some events. Plus, with its large storage capacity, I can view recordings for thirty or forty days without any issues. I have 26 cameras running, and it still works incredibly well. I also find it really useful that if something happens, like a power outage, OpenEye notifies you. The setup was easy, though you need a bit of a networking background.

**What do you dislike about OpenEye?**

i like everything in openeye. it is better than blueiris software or any other security camera software i have previously used.

**What problems is OpenEye solving and how is that benefiting you?**

OpenEye solves everything about security with its flawless system. It alerts me when electricity goes out and offers great storage, allowing me to backtrack recordings for 30-40 days with 26 cameras running.

  ### 5. Powerful Account Management, But Slow Web UI and Licensing Model Needs Improvement

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 27, 2026

**What do you like best about OpenEye?**

Remote camera login, powerful enterprise account management features.

**What do you dislike about OpenEye?**

Slow connections to recorders & lack of quick reponsiveness in web-UI. Lack of clear information about what advanced features are available on which license, with what hardware, etc. (especially when looking at existing accounts with older model hardware installed).
Integration with Alarm.com is OK at best, and all-around the "advanced" and AI features feel "young" and not yet fully-baked.

**What problems is OpenEye solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Remote access across locations is the main benefit, however the lack of a single login for Alarm.com & OWS is a pain point here. For the Standard License - looking at this as "onsite NVRs with a cloud access platform" an nothing more... the licensing is too expensive. We could sell a lot more if there was a lower cost license model for simple cloud-managed remote access, status monitoring, etc with the option to upgrade for advanced features/analytics etc.

  ### 6. Modern, Easy-to-Use Platform with Robust Analytics and Great OpenEye Support

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brett L. | Corporate Security Manager, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 27, 2026

**What do you like best about OpenEye?**

Modern interface, robust analytics, ease of use, working with OpenEye reps. Later on in this survey you ask if we switched from a different vendor to OpenEye. We did switch from Verint and March Networks. Neither showed up in the search window, so I had to mark now. We feel OpenEye is superior in performance and features than both of those solutions.

**What do you dislike about OpenEye?**

No significant downsides identified as of yet.

**What problems is OpenEye solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We had some issues with firmware updates, OpenEye is working diligently with our IT team to resolve.

  ### 7. Effortless Accessibility and Reliable Performance

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 27, 2026

**What do you like best about OpenEye?**

I appreciate OpenEye for its ease of access, making everything clearly available and accessible from anywhere, which is crucial for stability. I really like how it's easily accessible for all users, regardless of their level of computer or software experience; it feels like anyone can use it. The playback features are used quite a bit, and the reports have been very valuable for managing all of our customer accounts and inventory. We strongly prefer using the OpenEye Windows servers over the Linux servers because troubleshooting and accessing them remotely is much easier. OpenEye integrates well with the AI image verification tool Ai-RGUS, which helps manage offline cameras. The initial setup of OpenEye was very easy to configure before installation.

**What do you dislike about OpenEye?**

We strongly like using the OpenEye Windows servers over the OpenEye Linux servers, as troubleshooting issues and accessing the Windows servers remotely is quite a bit easier.

**What problems is OpenEye solving and how is that benefiting you?**

OpenEye provides ease of access and stability, making it user-friendly for all experience levels. Its playback features and reporting tools effectively manage customer accounts and inventory. Setup and configuration are straightforward, enhancing efficiency for our team and clients.

  ### 8. Reliable, User-Friendly Security Solution with Minor Connectivity Hurdles

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Melissa L. | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 29, 2026

**What do you like best about OpenEye?**

I find OpenEye to be reliable and extremely user-friendly, which greatly reduces the number of service calls and makes training much more intuitive. I appreciate its cloud-based accessibility, allowing users to securely access systems without needing software on their computers or using VPNs. The initial setup was very easy, aside from figuring out how to assign licenses, and we had no issues getting the system up and adding our cameras.

**What do you dislike about OpenEye?**

We tend to run into issues with ONVIF cameras staying connected, specifically Hikvision and Allustra.

**What problems is OpenEye solving and how is that benefiting you?**

OpenEye secures and monitors locations reliably, reducing service calls and offering intuitive training. Its cloud-based accessibility allows secure system access without needing software or VPNs.

  ### 9. Works Seamlessly with Existing Cameras and Scales as Budget Allows

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Karim S. | Business Development Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 19, 2026

**What do you like best about OpenEye?**

It works with my existing cameras, which gives me time to phase in additional areas as my budget allows.

**What do you dislike about OpenEye?**

I am still working on the live view with large monitors. I might need to buy into the NVR hardware

**What problems is OpenEye solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ease of setup, I can even use on a server. Again this allows for growth into the solution without the primary cost.

  ### 10. Easy to Use Anywhere, with Helpful Date-and-Time Search

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Automotive | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 07, 2026

**What do you like best about OpenEye?**

Ease of software use. I like that I can pull it up on my desktop at work and use it from mobile device at home if I need to. Being able to go back to specific dates and times to find a 'concern' is also a plus.

**What do you dislike about OpenEye?**

I haven't found anything yet that is an 'openEye' issue. Our biggest concern is the wiring in our building doesn't allow us to see all of our cameras on one data base, if that makes sense. It's split between two servers, but again that is our issue not an OpenEye issue.

**What problems is OpenEye solving and how is that benefiting you?**

No problem

  ### 11. Great Alarm.com Alert Integration and Helpful Rep Support

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Telecommunications | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 27, 2026

**What do you like best about OpenEye?**

Alerts that integrate with an Alarm.com alarm system.
Example: Alarm armed - turn on alerts.

Support from our reps is great.

**What do you dislike about OpenEye?**

Load times are slow compared to another VMS we use called Obseron.

Hardware is expensive.
Sometimes hard to figure out what server is required.
Support is great though when we need help.

**What problems is OpenEye solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Customer like the alerts that are reliable.

We like the alerts about customer issues (cameras offline, HDD failure, etc) when they are accurate. There seems to be some issues with those recently.

  ### 12. Motion Sensing + Timeline Search Make Finding Events Fast

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Banking | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 27, 2026

**What do you like best about OpenEye?**

The motion sensing mixed with the timeline searching allow me to look into events without having to scrub through hours of footage

**What do you dislike about OpenEye?**

I do wish there were more global option toggles rather than everything being bound to a user group. It's not a huge deal, but it would save some time when deploying a feature bank-wide

**What problems is OpenEye solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Allowing me to efficiently search for specific footage of events, and keeping an easy to access area for all of our footage and camera settings

  ### 13. Exceptionally User-Friendly Experience from Setup to Daily Use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Security and Investigations | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 27, 2026

**What do you like best about OpenEye?**

Interface is very user friendly when compared to competitors. Really, everything from new account creation to install to user friendliness is way above everyone else.

**What do you dislike about OpenEye?**

Only issue I have come across is 3rd party integrations. OpenEye will release a software update that breaks the integration so we then have to wait for another software release that fixes it.

**What problems is OpenEye solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Love the new active deterrent cameras so you don't have to add an external speaker or strobe.

  ### 14. Easy to Use, Best-of-Breed Compatibility, and Amazing Support

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Manufacturing | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 27, 2026

**What do you like best about OpenEye?**

It works with all the best of breed products and is very easy to use. The support team is amazing from sales to tech.

**What do you dislike about OpenEye?**

I would say their camera line. We have had some issues with the cameras themselves, but the servers and VMS Platform is outstanding

**What problems is OpenEye solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They have helped register projects for additional discounts to help us win jobs. They have helped design projects as well.

  ### 15. Access from Anywhere: A Flexible Cloud Service

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 28, 2026

**What do you like best about OpenEye?**

It’s a cloud service that you can connect to from anywhere.

**What do you dislike about OpenEye?**

In some cases, online support should be available.

**What problems is OpenEye solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As a financial institution, we are required to keep video records for a minimum of 90 days. The system was not recording the videos during that time. Although the issue has been resolved, we do not have recordings for that period.

  ### 16. Intuitive Navigation That’s Easy from Day One

  ### 18. Easy and very user-friendly platform management

Remote site video management from a central site

  ### 19. Easy to use and very helpful

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Bradley B. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 19, 2025

**What do you like best about OpenEye?**

What I like best about OpenEye is how easy it is to use and how reliable the video footage is. Whether I’m checking in on a job site or reviewing something that happened, the system loads fast and the quality is always clear. I also like that I can access everything from my phone without jumping through hoops.

**What do you dislike about OpenEye?**

The only thing I don’t really like about OpenEye is that sometimes the mobile app can lag or take a few extra seconds to load live video, especially when I’m on the go. It’s not a deal-breaker, but it can be frustrating when I need to check something quickly

**What problems is OpenEye solving and how is that benefiting you?**

OpenEye is helping me keep an eye on my roofing jobs and equipment when I can’t be there in person. It gives me peace of mind knowing I can check in anytime from my phone, and if something happens, I’ve got clear video to back it up. It’s definitely helped cut down on theft concerns and keeps my team more accountable too.

  ### 20. Top Notch Partnership

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Retail | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 20, 2025

**What do you like best about OpenEye?**

Over my career I have had many technology vendors. OpenEye is not a vendor, they are a partner. They always go above and beyond to take care of their customers. I can't say enough about how they make sure their customers are successful.

**What do you dislike about OpenEye?**

I don't know that I really have a comment. I know in the past we have had some issues getting some equipment, but truly that was an issue with one of OpenEye's supplier. Not sure that could have been anticipated.

**What problems is OpenEye solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We mainly rely on for loss prevention and litigation avoidance.

  ### 21. "Review on OpenEye: My Experience, Prons and Cons"

  ### 22. My Hands-On Review of OpenEye Security Surveillance Systems

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Prashant S. | Software Developer, Information Technology and Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 31, 2024

**What do you like best about OpenEye?**

OpenEye's security system's motion detection cut down on false alarms by screening out harmless movements, like animals or weather effects. This feature, along with smart analytics helped spot unauthorized people and keep them out of off-limits areas. The system also sent out instant alerts when someone breached the perimeter letting security staff react right away. Plus, managing all sites from one central point cut down on admin work and made security practices more uniform. OpenEye's support team's ability to fix issues also helped keep the system up and running.

**What do you dislike about OpenEye?**

During my time using OpenEye's security systems. I ran into issues with the face recognition feature. It didn't work well when the lightning was poor or when staff wore masks or hats. The HD video needed a lot of bandwidth so we had to upgrade our network to things running. Smaller offices without much tech know-how found the system's advanced features too complex, which meant they needed extra help and training. At first, we struggled to make OpenEye work with our existing security setup, but their customer support helped us sort it out. The initial costs for hardware and licenses were high, but in the long run, the system's benefits made it worth the money we spent.

**What problems is OpenEye solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I found OpenEye's motion detection feature of their security system outstanding. It filters out the non-threatening movements from what it perceives through its sensors, thus reducing false alarms due to animals or weather-related disturbances. With this feature, unauthorized personnel were detected in our no-go zone, and measures were quickly initiated to prevent their intrusion into forbidden areas. The system provides real-time alerts in case of a breach in the perimeter so that actions can be taken by our security team. The enormous reduction in administrative overhead and the introduction of consistency into our security practices by having all our locations controlled from a central hub is what drew us to OpenEye. Moreover, with OpenEye's excellent remote troubleshooting support team, system downtime was minimized and everything kept running.
