I especially appreciate the improvements that I have been developed in just the past couple of years - adding functionality that helps us feel confident that we invested in the right tool. **What do you dislike about OpenAsset?** We work with a lot of vector files or images with transparency, which must be linked locally to maintain the transparent effect. This has been very needed and is such a good change. We were using InDesign documents to keep our project information and employee experience. OpenAsset has drastically sped up our process for proposals and makes it so that we know our information is not outdated. **What do you dislike about OpenAsset?** We have not connected it to Deltek VantagePoint yet. This is purely an issue with how trustworthy our data in VantagePoint is though. I would love to see the capability to update InDesign and PowerPoint templates on my own without having to go through the OpenAsset staff. They have been very quick and responsive, but sometimes it's such a small change that it would be easier to do on my own. **Recommendations to others considering OpenAsset:** This has really helped us streamline our resumes and project sheets. Now they are able to easly find the pictures they need, select them, and download them for their use. **What do you dislike about OpenAsset?** I would love to be able to give access to everyone that would like access to the images, but the cost of an unlimited users license is a little cost perhibitive. **What problems is OpenAsset solving and how is that benefiting you?** Before OpenAsset our remote offices struggled to be able to review photos using a VPN network to our servers that stored the images. With a cloud based system we are able to access and download our images and videos from anywhere. The ability to take the high resolution images stored in OpenAsset and create a hyperlink that allows the final user the ability to download those high resolution images in a matter of seconds. ### 14. The integration to powerpoint and InDesign expedite the way we design and reduce the file size of what we work on, therefore speeding up the process. **What do you dislike about OpenAsset?** OpenAsset often has small glitches. Some images might get corrupted and we have to keep a backup on our drive in case we need to upload them again. Another example is images sometimes translate to InDesign or PPT upside down or distorted but this is an easy fix we live with. **What problems is OpenAsset solving and how is that benefiting you?** OpenAsset is researching other software to implement with directly like we already do with Adobe InDesign and Microsoft Powerpoint. Some sort of built in AI that could do a basic tagging could be helpful. **Recommendations to others considering OpenAsset:** Make use of the OpenAsset support team - they're really helpful if you have any issues / queries. **What problems is OpenAsset solving and how is that benefiting you?** OpenAsset has allowed us to recognise images that we don't have copyright to use a lot easier and more sufficiently. While you can log on to your account from any browser, it's not ideal on a tablet or mobile phone. We have a wide range of stakeholders in our organization quickly hopping in to access information quickly, and the multiple ways to present and organize files makes this much easier than our existing server or other cloud-based platforms. The indd integration is also pretty key for our team; I only recall trying the ppt integration once and running into hiccups, but likely that's a me issue. **What do you dislike about OpenAsset?** Our issues are often a matter of employees not knowing how to use the platform well, not finding something, and abandoning the process. Things like multiple views (project vs file vs album), multiple categories, search fields that are automatically retained, etc, often upset occasional users. Likewise, two different search views (project sidebar vs main search bar) and two different batches of taxonomies is difficult for someone not steadily in the platform to use. It almost seems like a generalist view that was just files might be helpful? Is that already a setting? Are people seeing that and still getting confused, lol? We also struggle with trying to gather projects or files by searching in the opposing taxonomy. For example, wanting to see spaces with centerline views inside of a range of seating--those are tags set to files rather than projects, so when perform a search we see a number of files but can't quickly distill that to the projects included in that search. Or perhaps we can and I'm overlooking the feature. Otherwise, curious to continue to dig in further and try to bring in more of our media. **What problems is OpenAsset solving and how is that benefiting you?** We suffer from the wonderful problem of too much media. Our teams are steadily on-site visiting active projects and taking shots of venues, largely for research/documentation. Our clients are steadily generating professional photography of the spaces once they're open. We're steadily generating internal photography of events and inter-office happenings. Our designers are steadily amassing research images and their own drawings and renderings. Our sales team is steadily generating content for proposals. It becomes impossible to manage without a solution like this that allows us to storytell within a custom, accessible framework. ### 27. This provides our firm with consistency in our products. We enter information on projects into Deltek and it is then linked to OpenAsset and from there disseminated to our website, data sheets in InDesign, and PowerPoint presentations so that all information has a single source of content. OpenAsset also allows us to organize and simplify our external PowerPoint presentations by letting us upload PowerPoint slides and then create PowerPoint templates from which we can create individual project slides. This feature is game-changing and a big time saver. The best part is that we can create our own PowerPoint template (or multiple templates, though we only need one) without any help from OpenAsset support. It took me about 15 minutes to read the article on how to create the template, test it out, and then fine-tune the template for company use. **What do you dislike about OpenAsset?** By and large, OpenAsset is very user-friendly. One discovery made recently is that when creating PowerPoint presentations from Albums you cannot simple select an entire album along with other PowerPoint slides uploaded to OpenAsset in other Albums and have it build an entire presentation for you. Adding this feature would be very helpful. There should also be a feature to be able to create a gallery of images to share externally on the fly. The current functionality provides a download, which is pretty archaic. **Recommendations to others considering OpenAsset:** If you are integrating with Deltek products, it is a great solution. **What problems is OpenAsset solving and how is that benefiting you?** OpenAsset provides a platform for our website, data sheets, and PowerPoint presentations to all use the same information as it is pulled from Deltek Vantagepoint. We can now create PowerPoint presentations on the fly using templates we have created ourselves. We also use Open Asset to reference images using three different main keyword groups according to our needs. ### 32. It also ensures people are using the latest/greatest and approved language. **What do you dislike about OpenAsset?** Sometimes the system isn't as customizable as we need. We have had to make some work-around's to do some of the things we've needed. We ended up using the Employee module to also store Client POC info so we could link them to projects. It would be nice to have a separate section. The Searching and filters are very limiting. Sometimes we need to search for 4 different parameters, but we're having to only be able to search for 2 and then manually sort through those. Also, an Excel export of searches would be good. **Recommendations to others considering OpenAsset:** It's a great system to store photos and information about projects and employees. The linking function from Projects to Employees is great and then being able to select what projects to put on a resume is amazing! We're able to qualify our projects for proposals much faster now and then export a Word document project profile to start editing for the specific proposal. As we get more and more projects entered, we are starting to see the efficiencies. **What problems is OpenAsset solving and how is that benefiting you?** We had a big problem saving new information on project write-up's. OA has given us a process to save these new pieces and keep everything stored in one place and people know when they get the project narrative, it is the latest and greatest and has been Tech Edited and then they can edit out the information they don't need. ### 41. And, the support team has been and continues to be stellar. **What do you dislike about OpenAsset?** Though it's easy to teach the basics, there's quite a learning curve to master the platform to find it's best usage for our organization. The support of native InDesign files (via ZIP) is not quite as intuitive or easy to use as other asset types. **Recommendations to others considering OpenAsset:** Leverage the customer care team. Having the access to sync with Deltek Vision makes it so much easier to apply the project data and create searchable keywords. Our customer account manager, Christine Tipold, has been wonderful. She's always so helpful and available to chat when I need to brainstorm what is available that would best meet our needs. **What do you dislike about OpenAsset?** There have been a few occasions where I've determined a certain feature would be most helpful to better manage my files and determine who has access to what. There are still a few tweaks/additions to be made in the User Group access options that would be more beneficial to the admin. Particularly speaking to Restricted Use access level files. There should be a limitation/block to allow Restricted Use files selected when creating a contact sheet. Though a user group can ONLY view a Restricted Use file, they can still use that file on a contact sheet. This could create BIG problems if files were used improperly. This is my battle at the moment. Also, it would be ideal if the admin has the ability to set a default selection for the file display views on the entire account. Contact me if you want to know more about why this would be needed/helpful to me. This is my other current battle. **What problems is OpenAsset solving and how is that benefiting you?** My current problems are listed in the previous question and as of right now they are not getting solved and I'm not benefitting from them.
