Simplicity is the best thing about this app. Even without much knowledge, you can start streaming in 15 minutes. Or record video, or do both at the same time. The program allows you to fully manage your broadcast and not have to worry about configurations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I haven't found any downsides to this app, and you could say it's the best choice I've ever tried. Especially considering it's free. It's probably a head start over its paid counterparts and has more features. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Open Broadcaster Software (OBS) is a free video recording and streaming software that allows our church to Livestream our worship service without spending extra money. There are a lot of capabilities, and the software allows for some very cool aspects, such as including PowerPoint slides, our logo, etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It seems like the software has been glitchy since the last couple of updates. We also changed cameras simultaneously, so it is taking longer to determine what is causing our issues. The fact that it is free also comes with the downside of not having comprehensive customer service. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's not hardware intensive and can be run on a normal device as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's UI can be a bit better, sometimes it's difficult to operate for beginners. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I enjoy the ability to change the scenes, have multiple people on the streams, and the options to be creative. I can use videos from the pc and also bring my guests in through practically any platform. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
If there's something I would like to see corrected, it would have the be the amount of resources this program takes on my pc. My cooling fan shouldn't have to turn on if I'm streaming just me and a low resource requirement game. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Top of the line for streamers at an affordable cost of FREE! Very little knowledge is needed to get yourself streaming, but it has the capability of more advanced features. Tons of tutorial videos out there to help you along the way. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
To do some stuff, there is a bit of a learning curve. Some things are not as intuitive as it should. The UI is very bland with a basic approach, so it is not visually appealing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

OBS allows you to record and broadcast video from your computer even if you don´t have the technical skills required by other broadcasting software.
You can create customized scenarios and place frames with your camera and monitor, combining everything in a single video stream. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Recorded videos have to be remuxed. This procedure is done manually, and it creates a new file of about the same size as your recording.
The so-called 'Studio mode' should have editing functionalities such as other video editing software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

A free, open-source solution that allows for extreme customization and all necessary options to put on live-streaming events of all sizes and topics. Does everything as well as its competitors, at a free cost. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
To fully maximize the usefulness of OBS, technical knowledge and incorporation of plugins and third-party work is nearly required. These are also available, but effort is needed to use them well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I have to record the screen frequently for work. Tried a lot of different software for it, even tried the paid ones as well. But OBS Studio blew my mind. It is the best software I have ever used for screen recording. And even being absolutely free it is way better than paid software. This one is highly recommended. There is nothing to dislike when you are getting this kind of quality software that too for free. Been using this for almost a year now and once you get used to the UI this software will provide everything you will ever want. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Open Broadcaster Studio allows me to create truly professional online meetings through any platform like Zoom. I can use multiple cameras, deliver video and web content, do top-tier chromakey, and more. I constantly get comments about how the quality of my online meetings is the best they've ever seen. I've created many special effects people aren't used to seeing on a zoom call, like intros and outros, overlays, desk cam view so people can see me writing on paper, etc. I can also play videos with much higher quality that screensharing through zoom and deliver powerpoint presentations better, too.
I have more control of the audio as well. I can adjust the sound to give my voice that 'radio announcer' tone. In fact, I've been asked more than one time if I ever do voiceovers or if I've done radio work. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The complexity can be overwhelming. There are so many things you can do with this software; it has a big learning curve. Using it is not for the faint of heart; you are delving into professional production territory. You need to be willing to open multiple pieces of software to do an online meeting properly.
I have found that after I set up a new function in OBS then want to tweak it later, it takes me a while to get back to the nuts and bolts of how I created the effect. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
