The reduction in time necessary between an access request and provisioning has been reduced dramatically. This helps us meet our internal SLAs across the organization. Effective, time-limited, auto revoked access is the ideal state for any access management program. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I can't truthfully answer this question. There is nothing I have wanted Opal to do that it either doesn't do already, or hasn't been responded to very quickly by the product and support teams. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Ability to manage access approval workflows, time-restricted access, automate access provisioning, break-the-glass access. User access reviews via Opal make things streamlined and easy. Out of the box, it helps us save time on User Access Management. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
It's a relatively new product that can be improved, but I have confidence in the team that is working on it. The features that were promised to us have been delivered on time. I have a positive outlook on the future of the product. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The team at Opal is in touch with the technical requirements of the target market. I can't say that for a lot of early-stage companies. They're building proper tooling and technology, such as the early prioritization of a terraform provider and a high-quality AWS SSO integration, to enable their customers to scale. They've also addressed the access-lifecycle reporting/auditing components that allow for rapid deployment of access workflows to gain approvals from internal compliance and audit teams. The pace of delivery in 2022 has been extraordinary - and they're one of the most promising companies I've had the pleasure to work with in a long time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Not so much a dislike of anything from Opal but more of an understanding that the problem space they're building for is massive. A challenge they will need to overcome is that many companies will try to pull Opal in several directions. Maintaining discipline and telling customers, 'no, we're not going to build that, it's not part of our core mission' is not easy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Opal's platform has allowed us to manage our GCP environment in a SOC-2 compliant and secure manner. We can easily demonstrate that our critical databases and servers are time-bounded, have escalation paths, and are fully audited. Our developers love using the platform - Opal's CLI and Slack bot are slick! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Overall, we have been delighted with Opal! The team has been responsive to our questions and feedback. If there's any constructive feedback, I hope they can expand their list of integrations. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Love the ability to quickly request access to nearly all of our resources, removing the need to reach out to specific people. Being able to view the progress of an access request and who is required to grant access is great. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I think Opal definitely has some room to improve in their CLI and UI experiences. The CLI tool needs to be more flexible to allow for user to better integrate it into their workflows. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It has built in integrations with AWS , mongo and several other commonly used tools Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The UI is a bit messy and it will help to have finer grained controls on approval process like: require manager approval require FIDO approval , multiple approval. ALso the webhook solution for custom integrations needs to be per resource. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Opal's willingness to listen to our feedback and fix/enhance faster than any other product I have worked with.
Intuitive UI, and so far, nothing has 'broken'.
All the features work as expected, unlike many industry-leading products that advertise features that do not work when the tire meets the road. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Dependency on Okta groups for access governance. I would rather see Opal reconciling access directly from the applications, providing the actual state of application access.
Reporting capabilities leave a lot to be desired. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
Opal's has designed every feature perfectly. I personally LOVE their least privilege automation. I can comfortably know that someone who was given production database access while they're oncall won't have it after their rotation. I've also heard resounding reviews from our more technical engineers on its implementation. It's definitely made for developers and admins intelligently.
Lastly, the Opal team always seems committed to our success. They follow up regularly and clearly communicate when anything (rarely) doesn't go as planned. A team of rockstars who will treat you with respect. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
I had to sit here for a while to come up with something I'm not happy with so take that into account. If there's anything I could say is lacking it would be that they aren't self service. I've heard they're working on this, but right now you have to schedule a demo to see the product which is sometimes something I'd rather not do. What I will say though, is it's well worth it to go through their process. Their success team alone dramatically improved our quality of life and honestly for such a complex organization like ours its helpful to be guided through it. At Merge, we're all about security. We have numerous security certifications and must ensure we're following industry best practices. Using Opal, we've built exactly what we need. Time-based access, easy Slack-based approvals, and flexibility to use it for anything, including internal tools, have made it a game-changer. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
There isn't much we don't like about Opal. Obviously a world where they connect to every tool in existence would be amazing, but it's not realistic, and their flexible webhooks enable us to connect it to anything we need. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The Opal platform has helped my organization to implement federated access to engineering systems and makes it easy to track who is assigned to what. We have received good feedback from engineers regarding the self-service UI and central repository for access requests. Integrations with our core apps have made it easy to onboard and exit users from those apps from a central place. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The Opal product is maturing and the philosophy regarding objects and functionality within the application. This isn't really a bad thing, it just brings with it some changes to UI and thought process about objects within Opal. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
