## About Opal Security
Opal is an authorization reasoning platform that empowers security and engineering teams to manage access and reduce identity risk at scale. We provide real-time visibility, prioritized insights, and frictionless just-in-time controls across every identity: from employees to AI agents. At our core is an intelligent data layer that continuously analyzes access behavior to surface and contextualize the most critical risks. Unlike legacy IGA or workflow tools, Opal gives our customers read-write authority to enforce least privilege and remediate exposures directly. As environments grow more dynamic and autonomous, Opal becomes a self-improving, policy-enforcing system – ensuring control, resilience, and the ability to move faster without increasing risk. The world's best companies, such as Databricks, Figma, Blend, and Cloudflare, trust Opal to govern and adapt sensitive access. Opal is backed by Greylock and some of the top security experts around the world, including Silicon Valley CISO Investments (SVCI).

## Opal Security Reviews
 ### 1. Clear and consistent access management for a wide range of services.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Daniel L. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 15, 2023

**What do you like best about Opal Security?**

Opal makes managing access to a wide range of services simple and consistant. Its UI is clear and intutive requring minial end user documentation. Functiuonality is continuously updated based on customer feedback.

**What do you dislike about Opal Security?**

None to report. This might sound fishy, but it is the case!

**What problems is Opal Security solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Opal allows our team to grant managed access to range of services in a clear and consistent manner, to the point only one doc is needed to cover hundreds of different resuorces for end users. It has performend reliably for over a year and a half, even migrating between different kubernetes clusters with zero issues. Configuration management via Terraform has performed reliably as well. The product feels good in the hand and easy to learn.

**Official Response from Eugene Ling:**

> Thank you so much Daniel! It has been a pleasure partnering with you!

 ### 2. Free up your dev teams to dev

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Pharmaceuticals | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 15, 2023

**What do you like best about Opal Security?**

Opal has re-thought traditional access management. They enable self-service like many products, but they take a unique approach and also provide the related capabilities (monitoring and auditing) to make it a fully-featured solution. This frees up our development teams to do more value added work.

**What do you dislike about Opal Security?**

Opal is great for developers and technical teams but can be a little difficult for non-technical end users. If they can simplify the user experience there will be no use case that they can't address!

**What problems is Opal Security solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our primary use case is access to AWS. We have >90 AWS accounts, >60 permission sets and >150 AD groups - managing that was becoming impossible. Opal is helping us simplify the access management process for AWS as well as enable self service to get the developers out of the loop.

**Official Response from Eugene Ling:**

> Yes! Freeing up dev team to actually do their work is important! We really believe in self-service. Thank you for your feedback! User experience is very top of mind for us and we will continue to raise the bar there

 ### 3. Opal is the best PAM solution to meet our very specific security requirement

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer & Network Security | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 15, 2023

**What do you like best about Opal Security?**

Opal has an intuitive UI and request workflow for end users, with complete control for administrators to define multiple request flows with mutiple stages, which can be configured via Terraform IaC. The Opal team have been excellent in understanding our requirements, providing details of how Opal can meet them and in the odd case where it couldn't have added features to ensure Opal could do what we needed.

**What do you dislike about Opal Security?**

While the UI is excellent there could be more options to filter when searching through large data sets and for the search criteria to persist between page loads, for example when trying to find a specific AWS account in a list of hundreds.

**What problems is Opal Security solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Opal is allowing us to decouple our IdP from AWS, access to AWS via Opal allows an MFA challenge (which is seperate from our IdP MFA challenge) at connection time and gives users just in time access, this gives us an improved security posture in separating our business IT from our customer facing services and data.

**Official Response from Eugene Ling:**

> Thank you for the feedback! We pride ourselves on being customer-centric and will continue to invest our efforts there. Filtering through large data sets is an active area of exploration – stay tuned!

 ### 4. Finally a Modern IAM Platform!

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 15, 2023

**What do you like best about Opal Security?**

Opal allows me to define what least privilege looks like and ensure its consistently enforced. This is the first product i've seen that enables deep, granular, zero trust access management.

**What do you dislike about Opal Security?**

Using Opal requires that administrators genuinely care about least priviledge in their organizations. The product provides all the tools necessary, but you will need to understand who owns what, setup the necessary approvers, and ramp up on the product.

**What problems is Opal Security solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Opal helps us both understand, and action user access. Before using Opal engineering access was generally over-provisioned, long lived, and obscure. After switching to Opal we were able to understand exactly who had access, who needed, and why.

**Official Response from Eugene Ling:**

> Our team has loved working with you and we really appreciate your consistent and thoughtful feedback! Thank you for your support!

 ### 5. Game changer in enterprise access management

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alfredo H. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 03, 2023

**What do you like best about Opal Security?**

The Opal product is a game changer for us in enterprise access management. However, Opal as a partner is the thing we like the most when considering to continue working with the company. Opal is both a fantastic prodct and the Opal team is a fantastic partner.

**What do you dislike about Opal Security?**

We have not had any issues working with Opal that we haven't been able to resolve via the customer feedback and product development processes.

**What problems is Opal Security solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Opal solves our complex enterprise access management, request, and review challenges. In addition, Opal has been very helpful in supporting employee onboarding and offboarding functions.

**Official Response from Eugene Ling:**

> Hey Alfredo! Thank you for the kind words – we have really enjoyed working with you. We will continue to push the envelope in terms of our product and partnership

 ### 6. Critical app for robust access management!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jacob B. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 27, 2023

**What do you like best about Opal Security?**

Opal has been a great cornerstone for our identity and access program, enabling robust authorization controls in a super user-friendly manner. It's super easy to review and approve requests right from slack.

Opal makes a great combo with Okta, the ability to grant tiles behind certain approvals or rotating on-call schedules is amazing for reducing the risk of privileged accounts. Plus, the access review feature helps make auditing a breeze!

**What do you dislike about Opal Security?**

The webhook functionality is great for apps that aren't behind SSO but requires some extra overhead to set up custom functions for applications to manage access which can slow down onboarding new apps.

**What problems is Opal Security solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Identity and access management, especially around privileged access to systems that require administrative approval before granting. Opal gives us an extra layer of security in ensuring least privileges when accessing systems.

**Official Response from Eugene Ling:**

> Hey Jacob! Thank you so much for the review. We love the partnership with Merge and your feedback is noted. Custom app functionality is on our roadmap an will be released soon!

 ### 7. Smooth UI, support docs could be better

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Zhe S. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 08, 2023

**What do you like best about Opal Security?**

UI is smooth and clear to use. It's straightforwar to request access.

**What do you dislike about Opal Security?**

* Documentation could be better with explicit examples, including in-app prompt and api docs
* Users are not able to click links to go to the apps from Opal

**What problems is Opal Security solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Access control

**Official Response from Eugene Ling:**

> Thank you so much for the feedback! We're thrilled to support you on the access control use case. Providing clear and easy documentation is paramount – we will raise the bar there!

 ### 8. Opal helps us reduce security risk

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jon A. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 08, 2023

**What do you like best about Opal Security?**

Opal isn't just another security tool that produces too many warnings. Opal has enabled us to reduce risk by minimizing privilege across Engineering, while making it easy to obtain admin when needed. So far we've used it to minimize privilege on Kubernetes, IAM roles, breakglass, self-management of low-risk accounts, OpsGenie on-call integration, and the list goes on.

**What do you dislike about Opal Security?**

Opal needs deeper integration with AWS. Few people have the experience necessary to write even simple IAM policies for accessing protected production resources. Opal should come with automatic integration for approved privilege escalation on basically any AWS resource -- the user should be able to type "I need admin access on bucket verkada-prod-thumbnails" or "I need eksadmin on the prod cluster", and Opal will come up with a reasonable IAM policy.

**What problems is Opal Security solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Already answered

**Official Response from Eugene Ling:**

> Hey Jon – thank you for your feedback on Opal Security. We are pleased to hear that our platform has enabled you to reduce risk by minimizing privilege across engineering while still making it easy to obtain admin when needed. We are proud to have been able to help your company in such a wide variety of ways, from minimizing privilege on Kubernetes to self-management of low-risk accounts.

We appreciate your feedback on our integration with AWS. We are always looking to improve our platform and make security as seamless as possible for our users. We will take your comments into consideration as we continue to enhance our tools.

Thank you for choosing Opal Security as your security partner. We look forward to continuing to support your business.

 ### 9. Opal has become a core pillar of our IAM strategy and is the primary method of granting access

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matthew J. | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 08, 2023

**What do you like best about Opal Security?**

Onboarding a variety of access patterns (Okta groups, AWS IAM roles, SSH access) in a flow that allows both technical and non-technical users to access resources smoothly.

**What do you dislike about Opal Security?**

We leverage custom integrations with Opal, which is still an evolving part of their product. It allows us to integrate with our own internal API platforms, but it lacks stable documentation.

**What problems is Opal Security solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We built our own, in-house approvals system to track sensitive resource approvals. Opal has replaced this tool and exceeded its capabilities. We want to grant temporal access to every resource at our company, not just a handful of resources. This helps us meet PCI, SOC, and ISO compliance.

**Official Response from Eugene Ling:**

> Hey Matthew! Thank you for your review and we are thrilled by our partnership. We are glad to hear that our platform has helped your company onboard different access patterns smoothly, and that it has exceeded your expectations by replacing your in-house approvals system and meeting your compliance requirements. Custom integrations are a huge priority for us and we are heavily investing in documentation and functionality. Thank you for your product feedback and continued support!

 ### 10. Trusted Access Management

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shannon J. | IT Engineer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 05, 2022

**What do you like best about Opal Security?**

Customer Focus:

Drata's onboarding with Opal was a fantastic experience. Opal's entire team was incredibly reactive to our needs and feedback. During implementation, their sales engineer Andrew was a great resource and gave some of the best customer service we've ever had. Post implementation, they are still reaching out, meeting with us about feature requests/enhancements and giving regular product updates. Steven, Umaimah, Eugene, Kevin, Andrew, Alex and Lance are a fantastic team, and some of the best humans out there.

The Product:

Opal enhances Drata's internal IT processes:

Automating access requests by connecting to our stack and allowing employees to request access to applications, roles within applications, and Okta groups removes administrative overhead from access request IT tickets. Additionally, they have granular Github, AWS and Saleforce roles/profile access request capabilities. At Drata we utilize Opal in Slack; access requests via CLI are also available for heavy engineering shops.

**What do you dislike about Opal Security?**

We are looking forward to working with Opal on additional features.

**What problems is Opal Security solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Security automation is the name of the game at Drata -- and Opal fits the theme by allowing ephemeral/time-based access requests with auto-revocation after a specific time-grant. Don't want to give permanent access to admin accounts that require maintenance? Grant just enough time to complete the job with no tracking to downgrade privileges later. Additionally, Opal allows you to send alerts for access grants to a Slack channel for easy logging and monitoring.

**Official Response from Eugene Ling:**

> Hey Shannon! Thank you for writing the review. I'm glad to hear that you had a fantastic experience with Opal's product and team! We are definitely looking forward to working with you on our product roadmap. We really appreciate all of your support and feedback!

 ### 11. Opal just makes things so much easier

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mike W. | Sr. Director of Security, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 30, 2023

**What do you like best about Opal Security?**

The reduction in time necessary between an access request and provisioning has been reduced dramatically. This helps us meet our internal SLAs across the organization. Effective, time-limited, auto revoked access is the ideal state for any access management program.

**What do you dislike about Opal Security?**

I can't truthfully answer this question. There is nothing I have wanted Opal to do that it either doesn't do already, or hasn't been responded to very quickly by the product and support teams.

**What problems is Opal Security solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Access requests used to take a long time to go through and get all the approvals and passing tickets all over the place. Opal simplifies that into one easy workflow. Expired access was commonly not re-visited to be renewed or revoked. Opal integrates automatic deprovisioning of access after a predetermined amount of time.

**Official Response from Eugene Ling:**

> Thank you Mike for sharing your positive experience with Opal Security. It's great to hear that the tool has significantly reduced the time needed for access requests, helping you meet internal SLAs. It's also awesome to hear that Opal has been able to meet all your needs and that the product and support teams have been responsive to your requests. Thank you for supporting Opal and we look forward to serving our security roadmap!

 ### 12. Great product with a promising future

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Evgeny L. | Head of Cyber Security, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 16, 2022

**What do you like best about Opal Security?**

Ability to manage access approval workflows, time-restricted access, automate access provisioning, break-the-glass access. User access reviews via Opal make things streamlined and easy. Out of the box, it helps us save time on User Access Management.

**What do you dislike about Opal Security?**

It's a relatively new product that can be improved, but I have confidence in the team that is working on it. The features that were promised to us have been delivered on time. I have a positive outlook on the future of the product.

**What problems is Opal Security solving and how is that benefiting you?**

There're certain areas that we've discovered while using the product that did not fit well with how our environment is setup; however Opal support team has always been quick to respond and come up with a patch or a workaround. Helpful!

**Official Response from Eugene Ling:**

> Thank you, Evgeny, for taking the time to write a review! It's great to hear that you find Opal Security useful for managing access approval workflows and automating access provisioning. We look forward to supporting your security roadmap – we appreciate you!

 ### 13. Access orchestration and lifecycle at scale.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Todd T. | Lead Security Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 22, 2022

**What do you like best about Opal Security?**

The team at Opal is in touch with the technical requirements of the target market. I can't say that for a lot of early-stage companies. They're building proper tooling and technology, such as the early prioritization of a terraform provider and a high-quality AWS SSO integration, to enable their customers to scale. They've also addressed the access-lifecycle reporting/auditing components that allow for rapid deployment of access workflows to gain approvals from internal compliance and audit teams. The pace of delivery in 2022 has been extraordinary - and they're one of the most promising companies I've had the pleasure to work with in a long time.

**What do you dislike about Opal Security?**

Not so much a dislike of anything from Opal but more of an understanding that the problem space they're building for is massive. A challenge they will need to overcome is that many companies will try to pull Opal in several directions. Maintaining discipline and telling customers, 'no, we're not going to build that, it's not part of our core mission' is not easy.

**What problems is Opal Security solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They're a platform for building flexible access automation without creating countless Okta Workflows or our own internal tooling. The positive developer experience related to JIT-based access is clear.

**Official Response from Eugene Ling:**

> Hey Todd – thank you for your review of Opal Security. It's great to hear that you appreciate the team's technical expertise and focus on delivering useful features, such as the Terraform provider and AWS SSO integration. I'm glad that Opal is helping you to build flexible access automation without having to create your own internal tooling. Thank you for your product feedback and support! We appreciate you!

 ### 14. Essential security platform to enforce least privilege

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Enrique E. | Co-Founder & CEO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 21, 2022

**What do you like best about Opal Security?**

Opal's platform has allowed us to manage our GCP environment in a SOC-2 compliant and secure manner. We can easily demonstrate that our critical databases and servers are time-bounded, have escalation paths, and are fully audited. Our developers love using the platform - Opal's CLI and Slack bot are slick!

**What do you dislike about Opal Security?**

Overall, we have been delighted with Opal! The team has been responsive to our questions and feedback. If there's any constructive feedback, I hope they can expand their list of integrations.

**What problems is Opal Security solving and how is that benefiting you?**

To help improve our SOC-2 process, Opal has enabled us to implement access management best practices right out of the gate. The implementation only took a few days, and our team barely needed time for onboarding since most of the workflows are out of Slack

**Official Response from Eugene Ling:**

> Thank you so much for the positive review, Enrique! We are thrilled to be working with you. Managing least privilege in GCP is definitely not easy and your team has done a fantastic job automating access reviews and requests.

 ### 15. First few weeks using Opal

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Noah S. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 01, 2023

**What do you like best about Opal Security?**

Love the ability to quickly request access to nearly all of our resources, removing the need to reach out to specific people. Being able to view the progress of an access request and who is required to grant access is great.

**What do you dislike about Opal Security?**

I think Opal definitely has some room to improve in their CLI and UI experiences. The CLI tool needs to be more flexible to allow for user to better integrate it into their workflows.

**What problems is Opal Security solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Provides quick and easy access to different engineering resources.

**Official Response from Eugene Ling:**

> Thank you Noah for your positive feedback on Opal Security. We are thrilled to hear that our platform has made it easy for you to request access to your resources, while also allowing you to track the progress of your requests.

We appreciate your feedback regarding our CLI and UI experiences. Since your review, we have implemented many changes to drastically improve the CLI and UI experiences. Thanks again for sharing your experience with Opal and for being such a great customer. We appreciate you!

 ### 16. A very useful tool that manages inventory of resources and permissions to it.

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Mini R. | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 23, 2023

**What do you like best about Opal Security?**

It has built in integrations with AWS , mongo and several other commonly used tools

**What do you dislike about Opal Security?**

The UI is a bit messy and it will help to have finer grained controls on approval process like: require manager approval require FIDO approval , multiple approval. ALso the webhook solution for custom integrations needs to be per resource.

**What problems is Opal Security solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Temporal access to resources Just in time provisioning with consent from resource owners is a big win.

**Official Response from Eugene Ling:**

> Thank you Mini for your feedback on Opal Security. We are thrilled to hear that our platform has been a useful tool for managing your inventory of resources and permissions. We appreciate your feedback regarding our UI and approval process. Since your review, we have released a completely new user experience and design system. We really appreciate your helpful product feedback and we look forward to continuing to support your business.

 ### 17. New age product with a lot of potential

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Computer Software | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 14, 2022

**What do you like best about Opal Security?**

Opal's willingness to listen to our feedback and fix/enhance faster than any other product I have worked with.
Intuitive UI, and so far, nothing has 'broken'.
All the features work as expected, unlike many industry-leading products that advertise features that do not work when the tire meets the road.

**What do you dislike about Opal Security?**

Dependency on Okta groups for access governance. I would rather see Opal reconciling access directly from the applications, providing the actual state of application access.
Reporting capabilities leave a lot to be desired.

**What problems is Opal Security solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Application access requests, approval workflows and automated access granting.
Saves a lot of effort and time by avoiding manual intervention.
Also, all the events and approvals are auditable, making our interactions with auditors much smoother and more transparent.

**Official Response from Eugene Ling:**

> Thank you for sharing your feedback on Opal Security. It's great to hear that you find Opal to be a responsive and reliable solution with an intuitive user interface.

We appreciate your feedback regarding reporting capabilities. We have worked really closely with your team to address these challenges and your feedback has greatly improved our platform. Thank you for your support and we look forward to serving you!

 ### 18. The best permissions management platform on the market

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 12, 2022

**What do you like best about Opal Security?**

Opal's has designed every feature perfectly. I personally LOVE their least privilege automation. I can comfortably know that someone who was given production database access while they're oncall won't have it after their rotation. I've also heard resounding reviews from our more technical engineers on its implementation. It's definitely made for developers and admins intelligently.

Lastly, the Opal team always seems committed to our success. They follow up regularly and clearly communicate when anything (rarely) doesn't go as planned. A team of rockstars who will treat you with respect.

**What do you dislike about Opal Security?**

I had to sit here for a while to come up with something I'm not happy with so take that into account. If there's anything I could say is lacking it would be that they aren't self service. I've heard they're working on this, but right now you have to schedule a demo to see the product which is sometimes something I'd rather not do. What I will say though, is it's well worth it to go through their process. Their success team alone dramatically improved our quality of life and honestly for such a complex organization like ours its helpful to be guided through it.

**What problems is Opal Security solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Opal is helping us solve least privilege and manage our most sensitive aspects of our business. We are able to carefully manage, audit, and maintain an amazing practice around permissions. This means our teams are more productive and we close more deals by being able to focus less on SOC/SOX/ and ISO compliance.

**Official Response from Eugene Ling:**

> Thank you so much for the positive review! We've worked really closely with developers to ensure a seamless experience. Self-service is an active area of exploration – stay tuned for more updates!

 ### 19. Opal = Top Notch Security

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Gil F. | Co-Founder, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 26, 2022

**What do you like best about Opal Security?**

At Merge, we're all about security. We have numerous security certifications and must ensure we're following industry best practices. Using Opal, we've built exactly what we need. Time-based access, easy Slack-based approvals, and flexibility to use it for anything, including internal tools, have made it a game-changer.

**What do you dislike about Opal Security?**

There isn't much we don't like about Opal. Obviously a world where they connect to every tool in existence would be amazing, but it's not realistic, and their flexible webhooks enable us to connect it to anything we need.

**What problems is Opal Security solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Opal has helped us ensure we follow the most critical security practices and protect our customer data effectively.

**Official Response from Eugene Ling:**

> Hey Gil! Thank you for your feedback! It's really important for scaling companies to adopt time-based access. We really appreciate your support and partnership! We are heavily invested in the custom applications API and we've made significant improvements since your review!

 ### 20. Streamlined access request platform

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Mental Health Care | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** November 14, 2022

**What do you like best about Opal Security?**

The Opal platform has helped my organization to implement federated access to engineering systems and makes it easy to track who is assigned to what. We have received good feedback from engineers regarding the self-service UI and central repository for access requests. Integrations with our core apps have made it easy to onboard and exit users from those apps from a central place.

**What do you dislike about Opal Security?**

The Opal product is maturing and the philosophy regarding objects and functionality within the application. This isn't really a bad thing, it just brings with it some changes to UI and thought process about objects within Opal.

**What problems is Opal Security solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Opal has helped us in our journey to federated access and least privilege in AWS. The integrations with Google and Okta have allowed us to implement pipelines for user onboarding and day 1 standard access, as well as self service for elevated access. The team at Opal routinely meets with us to discuss our progress toward our goals, ask for feedback about the system, and demo new functionality coming.

**Official Response from Eugene Ling:**

> Thank you for sharing your positive experience with Opal! It's great to hear that the platform has helped your organization implement federated access to engineering systems and to track access assignments easily. It's also good to know that the self-service UI and central repository for access requests have received positive feedback from engineers. We appreciate you!

 ### 21. Opal is the foundation of Switchboard's infrastructure security

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Chris J. | CTO, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 27, 2022

**What do you like best about Opal Security?**

- It's relatively easy to integrate into existing infrastructure
- The concepts are simple and relatively easy to use
- Reliability and uptime has been great
- Team has been incredibly supportive and fun to work with

**What do you dislike about Opal Security?**

- Opal is still a relatively early-stage company
- The self-hosted deployment option is less mature than hosted
- Core UX flows have been evolving and improving

**What problems is Opal Security solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use Opal to control access to our infrastructure. Not only do our compliance certifications (SOC 2) require this, but it's also part of the core security posture that we sell to customers.

**Official Response from Eugene Ling:**

> Hey Chris! We really appreciate the positive sentiment. I hear you regarding core UX flows – we've completely re-designed our product to make the experience easier to use. Thank you for your support and partnership!

 ### 22. Important part of our daily workflows

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Shensi D. | Co-Founder, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 12, 2022

**What do you like best about Opal Security?**

The Opal team is really great. They're really responsive and very helpful. It's clear that they're eager to make their customers happy.

Opal has become a critical part of our daily workflows. We use the Opal Slack feature a lot, and it's helped speed up access requests.

**What do you dislike about Opal Security?**

Nothing comes to mind right now. We've been able to get new features and help as we need it.

**What problems is Opal Security solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We wanted to increase our security posture by limiting who at our company had data to what, and Opal has been very effective at allowing us to do that as we grow quickly.

**Official Response from Eugene Ling:**

> Hey Shensi! Thank you for the amazing review – we definitely pride ourselves on being customer obsessed. Thank you for your support and partnership!

 ### 23. Excellent product with even better customer service.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brandon P. | Enterprise Security Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 29, 2022

**What do you like best about Opal Security?**

The highlight for my team is how attentive Opal has been to implementing the product and how responsive their team has been to issues we encountered while setting Opal up in our environment.

**What do you dislike about Opal Security?**

There isn't anything really negative I can say. Some features aren't available yet, but Opal is constantly upgrading and adding features to address this.

Before Opal, access reviews and requests were a painful and manual process. Now, we have automated, audited processes that allow us to focus on higher priority tasks.

**What do you dislike about Opal Security?**

User Access Reviews could be a little more feature rich (pre-assigning), and Jira integration was a little shaky.

Opal is allowing us to focus on more important work by automating user access and audits.

**Official Response from Eugene Ling:**

> Hey Michael! Thank you for the positive review! We are thrilled to hear that Opal has been able to automate both access reviews and requests. We really appreciate your feedback.
