The ever-improving platform comes with many very useful features for auditing, change tracking within submissions, API integration for constructing data integrated AI-enabled dashboards to highlight analysis of collected data in near real-time. The native user interface offered in the subscription service provides a solid foundation to navigate and review submissions to ensure data quality on the project admin side, and allows flagging for follow up review and rejection of submissions, which is also API integrable to external applications for expanded automated data quality flagging and management. Over the past 10 months as a subscription base member, our project has had zero access issues and zero downtime. Tech support has been very prompt to respond to questions and helpful to troubleshoot ODK use. Excellent value! **What do you dislike about ODK?** ODK subscription service has been a pleasure to use, however the self-hosting option can be difficult to navigate as not all of the functionality of ODK has been tested in the knowledge base regarding deploying ODK in advanced network security environments. **What problems is ODK solving and how is that benefiting you?** ODK is instrumental in providing a secure platform to enable community-based field work in remote locations that do not have internet/network access. With ODK Collect, surveyors are able to conduct surveys in off-grid locations and later submit to ODK Central when they can return to a connected region with service. ### 2. The built-in quality control checks we can embed in surveys have significantly improved data integrity and consistency. Because it’s so user-friendly, our partners are also more willing to learn it and use it consistently. Before, teams had to manually enter IDs that included such coding as a three-letter district code, a two-letter community code, and a student number, which was very prone to mistakes. The QR code scanning feature has made a huge difference. It allows us to capture those IDs quickly and accurately, which saves time and greatly reduces errors. It's ease to use and implement on the field, very flexibe, and has strong form logic and data validation while creating surveys. Furthermore the ODK Collect app is incredibly reliable even in very poor connectivity scenarios. The ODK Central ads a huge layer of data security and auditing and provides data sharing with almost everything, from ODATA implementantion out of the box to connectors for Python and R. There is also a vibrant user community that helps a lot for support and inspiration and the Insiders group which brings active members closer to developers team. Absolutely recomended! **What do you dislike about ODK?** I don't actually dislike the way it works now, but the interface for showing submitted data on ODK Central could be improved to ease of finding specific submissions, specially in thousands of submissions scenarios. **What problems is ODK solving and how is that benefiting you?** I've developed assessment solutions based in ODK for environmental certification standards and streamline their risk evaluation. I've also created a traceability solution for non-timber forest products from the extraction to the end product final packaging. Its simplicity makes it one of the most robust software solutions for data collection. The recently released entities function, continuous improvements, clear documentation, and active community support enable the design of strong workflows. **What do you dislike about ODK?** There is little I dislike about ODK. However, working with traceability and first-mile data can be challenging, as capturing reality accurately is not always easy. ODK is not designed for end-to-end commodity traceability management, but when used for its intended purposes—such as mapping and household registration—and linked to other systems, it performs exceptionally well. Additionally, paper remains a preferred method for some, which can make behavior change and adoption frustrating. It was free for our users, the forms were customizable, and ODK Central ended up being a great place to store and manage our data. The support by Yaw was awesome as well. Both in getting set up, and responding to any issues very quickly. Its straightforward to platform (if thats the path you take. they do offer comprehensive support if you take the premium option). The Odata and XLS platform makes the transition of existing forms as well as reporting in a BI tool very straightforward and easy. **What do you dislike about ODK?** Onboarding it manually to save cost can be daunting, but if you follow their provided tutorials to the letter you won't have any issues. It would be nice to customise it with organisational branding - but I'm sure this is something in the works. **What problems is ODK solving and how is that benefiting you?** We are conducting a project that seeks to understand the impact of an outreach project. Existing case management tools require a high level of engagement to onboard and track engagements longitudinally, ODK however leaves it up to the user to create the requirements. We also needed a solution that wasn't priced per end user, and ODK fits both of these requirements. So far my experience with ODK has been really positive. This was my first time building an XLS template for ODK Collect, and between the forum, YouTube and ChatGBT I was able to get an amazing amount done in a shjort time with zero experience. Customer service has been good as well, ressponding within 24 hours to any email inquiries. I would definately recommend ODK, and this will be the solution our company uses from now on. **What do you dislike about ODK?** It is a shame the solution doesn't work with iPhone, although I understand the App Store ecosystem is a challenge. Google Plus Codes are also not supported in the front-end for ODK Collect, meaning we have to come up with a back-end solution to transfrom GPS coordinates to Plus Codes, but these Plus Codes will not be vbisible for the ODK Collect users. **What problems is ODK solving and how is that benefiting you?** ODK is allowing us to build mobile solutions to gathering field data efficiently and accurately pertaining to property occupancy and ownership in African countries ### 23. ODK is an integrated data collection tool, which covers all its aspects; from the creation of the data collection instruments, to the collection of the data by the interviewers and the aggregation of the data in the server. All of these elements work effectively and in a very user-friendly manner. Unlike other solutions, I never felt that my efforts or data could be compromised, and I have never experienced a single issue which I could not resolve in a very short time. I was particularly impressed by how easy is linking the tablets to the server and how well ODK handles different versions of the forms, even when the data collection is ongoing. On top of that, the support offered by ODK is exceptional, always responsive, and effective in solving doubts and issues. I can't recommend this solution enough, and I will continue using it from now on without question. **What do you dislike about ODK?** In my opinion, the greatest flaw of ODK is the need for an Android device to truly preview the forms being developed for data collection. While it is possible to create the forms without such device, it is important having access to one to learn what interviewers will see during the interviews. The preview tool in ODK Central is sub-optimal, as presents it presents the question in a very different way than in tablet running ODK Collect. There is also room for improvement in how roster or repeat question are handled. That is, when the same follow-up questions are asked about the options selected in a previous question. Questions need to be repeated in the form rather than being generated automatically, as it would be fitting. The visual aspect of ODK Collect's interface is serviceable but it could be improved. Form building in ODK would benefit from a repository of examples, which users can access directly. **What problems is ODK solving and how is that benefiting you?** ODK is enabling the collection of data in portable devices in settings with limited internet access. ODK allows a high-quality data collection and the trasmission of the data within hours of being collected to a server, where it is conveniently aggreated and downloadable in a convenient format. ### 47. Opening enketo forms in read-only mode, or more complex users and roles management, but most of these features are rather work in progress or not depending directly on ODK. This made our work easier, ensued that connectivity would not slow down our activity. No-Cost / Low-Cost No-Code Device-independent - Even 5-year-old Android phones support ODK Collect App. The data is received with a setup on Google Cloud which is very simple to setup.
